Abstract: A lightweight equipment pad that is design to place equipment such as outside condenser units includes a closed-cell polyurethane foam core and a UV stable polyurea coating. The closed-cell polyurethane foam core generally formed into a rectangular shape and significantly reduces the overall weight of the lightweight equipment pad in comparison to existing equipment pads. A top surface and a plurality of lateral surfaces of the closed-cell polyurethane foam core are fully covered with the UV stable polyurea coating to improve the strength and durability of the lightweight equipment pad. A top coating of the UV stable polyurea coating that is superimposed onto the top surface functions as a non-skid textured surface to prevent any equipment from shifting following installation.

Abstract: In conjunction with a so-called patterned medium comprising recording tracks each having an array of unit minute recording portions of a magnetic material separated by non-recording portions of a nonmagnetic material, the invention aims to prevent the recorded information from being disrupted by contact of a magnetic head slider with the medium. The magnetic recording medium of the invention includes recording tracks each having an array of unit minute recording portions (14) of a magnetic material separated by non-recording portions (16) of a nonmagnetic material. The surface height of the unit minute recording portions (14) is set lower than the surface height of the non-recording portions (16).

Abstract: An improved coextruded asymmetric multilayer plastic structure and method of forming the same are provided. The layers of the structure consist of a barrier layer comprised of an ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer, an adhesive layer on each surface of the barrier layer, inner and outer surface layers, and a bulk layer positioned between the outer surface layer and its adjacent adhesive layers. The bulk layer is comprised of a thermoplastic polymer and calcium carbonate in an amount sufficient that the multilayer structure has an acceptable level of curling. The structure can be used to form a tubular body that has a cylindrical shape. A collapsible dispensing container having a body wall formed of the aforementioned structure and having improved product dispense properties is also provided.

Abstract: A process for forming an inorganic material layer pattern on a substrate. The process includes the steps of transferring an inorganic powder dispersed paste layer supported on a support film to the surface of the substrate to form the inorganic powder dispersed paste layer on the substrate; forming a resist film on the inorganic powder dispersed paste layer transferred to the surface of the substrate; exposing the resist film to light through a mask to form a latent image of a resist pattern; developing the exposed resist film to form the resist pattern; etching exposed portions of the inorganic powder dispersed paste layer to form an inorganic powder dispersed paste layer pattern corresponding to the resist pattern; and baking the pattern to form an inorganic material layer pattern.

  • Patent number: 6355331
Abstract: A surface structure including a skin (13) a build-up (18) and a backing (20). A skin is formed and a build-up layer is applied to the skin. In one embodiment, gas pressure is applied to form the skin in a single-sided die. A nozzle on a five-axis arm then applies resin to the skin in a selected pattern. The selected pattern may form a hexagonal “honeycomb” cell structure, for example, to support the skin and may transition to a columnar cell structure for better crush resistance. The hexagonal-to-columnar structure provides superior crush resistance in automotive body panels, for example, and improved solar energy concentration in solar energy applications.

  • Patent number: 6265044
Abstract: A vacuum covering method for covering a profiled surface of a base member with a sheet by effecting bonding between the sheet and the base member under vacuum, wherein the base member has a multiplicity of spaced vacuum grooves extending across the profiled surface. When air is evacuated from the vacuum grooves, the sheet is drawn by vacuum or suction down onto the profiled surface. The base member is injection-molded of synthetic resin and undergoes thermal shrinkage when it becomes cool after molding. With the vacuum grooves provided in the profiled surface, thermal shrinkage is distributed uniformly over the entire area of the profiled surface and does not generate shrink mark which may form a depression on a front surface of the sheet bonded to the base member.

Abstract: The method and apparatus of the present invention prevents the formation of pin-holes during stretching of strip laminates in the cross machine direction. Pin-holes are prevented by creating slack areas along the length of the web where the edges of the non-woven strips meet with the polymer film, pressing the slack areas into the interdigital stretching rollers without stretching the slack areas, and stretching the remainder of the web in a typical manner. The slack regions are formed prior to interdigitation by, for example, formation of a furrow, a fold or a corrugation.

  • Patent number: 6221460
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a liquid absorbent material that is particularly useful as a liner material for personal care absorbent articles such as diapers, training pants, incontinence garments, sanitary napkins, bandages and the like. The material contains a plurality of peaks across its surface at spaced-apart intervals separated by channels. Disposed within the peaks is a liquid absorbing material capable of absorbing body exudates and liquids in general. Due to the materials and the nature of the construction of the present invention, when used as a liner material for personal care absorbent articles such as diapers, it tends to reduce the total surface area in contact with the infant's skin and it also provides a plurality of air channels within the diaper from the front waistband to the back waistband of the diaper thereby providing a path for increased air circulation.

Abstract: In an adsorbing body for humidity and odorous gas exchange such as an adsorbing sheet for dehumidification, an adsorbing element for dehumidification or an adsorbing element for total heat energy exchange, a sheet or a honeycomb laminate is impregnated or coated with silica sol containing, as solid content, not more than 30% of the silica sol weight of minute silica particles not larger than 120 Å in diameter which contain many stable silanol radicals on the surface and 0.01-1% of alkali metal ion Na2O. It is then dried to rigidly fix silica gel. Other humidity adsorbing or absorbing agents such as zeolite, organic high-polymer electrolyte, etc. may be mixed in said silica sol. Silica gel with excellent humidity adsorbing ability can be strongly adhered to a sheet or a honeycomb laminate in an extremely simple method.
