Abstract: A laminate structure (e.g., hot or cold wrap) formed from outer substrates that are bonded together to form at least one pocket is provided. The pocket is separated by an inner substrate such that the pocket defines an upper pocket region and a lower pocket region, each of which contains a reactant. Due to the presence of the inner substrate, the reactants do not intermix prior to activation of the laminate structure. To activate the laminate structure, a tension force is exerted so that the inner substrate ruptures, thereby allowing the reactants to freely intermix and produce the desired result. For example, in some instances, the reactants undergo and exothermic or endothermic reaction so that the laminate structure may be utilized as a hot or cold wrap.

Abstract: A process for forming an inorganic material layer pattern on a substrate. The process includes the steps of transferring an inorganic powder dispersed paste layer supported on a support film to the surface of the substrate to form the inorganic powder dispersed paste layer on the substrate; forming a resist film on the inorganic powder dispersed paste layer transferred to the surface of the substrate; exposing the resist film to light through a mask to form a latent image of a resist pattern; developing the exposed resist film to form the resist pattern; etching exposed portions of the inorganic powder dispersed paste layer to form an inorganic powder dispersed paste layer pattern corresponding to the resist pattern; and baking the pattern to form an inorganic material layer pattern.

Abstract: In conjunction with a so-called patterned medium comprising recording tracks each having an array of unit minute recording portions of a magnetic material separated by non-recording portions of a nonmagnetic material, the invention aims to prevent the recorded information from being disrupted by contact of a magnetic head slider with the medium. The magnetic recording medium of the invention includes recording tracks each having an array of unit minute recording portions (14) of a magnetic material separated by non-recording portions (16) of a nonmagnetic material. The surface height of the unit minute recording portions (14) is set lower than the surface height of the non-recording portions (16).
