Abstract: A composite seam system including a narrow weld bead joining two panels of fabric and a seam tape applied thereon. The applied seam tape comprises a top layer, a reinforcing layer and an adhesive layer melted through the reinforcing layer and connecting the top layer to the fabric panels over the weld bead. The narrow weld bead and the small seam allowance of the fabric panels it joins allows the seam tape to be secured over the weld bead to the fabric panels while lying in a flat plane. The use of a narrow reinforcing layer of woven polyester, nylon or non-woven ultra-fine fibrous material in the seam tape allows the seam tape to be flexible enough to move with the fabric it joins, reducing the incidence of tape edge abrasion.

Abstract: A wall insulation panel for use on a wall comprises at least the successive layers of: a first protective panel having a wall-meeting surface and a vacuum insulating panel (VIP) facing surface, an intermediate VIP panel; and a second protective panel having a VIP facing surface and an outward facing surface. There is an expansion region between at least one of the first and second protective panels and the VIP panel to allow for expansion of the VIP panel without deformation of the outward facing surface of the second protective panel. In this way, the expansion region allows for expansion of the VIP panel without deformation of the VIP facing surface of the second panel, and thus without deformation of the outward facing surface. This maintains the integrity and aesthetic appearance of the outward facing surface, and any further surface or layer thereon, such as a rendered layer.

Abstract: A composite structure has a first section, a second section, and a curved corner joining the first and second sections. The structure has a stack of fiber-reinforced plies including first and second external plies which run from the first section into the second section on an inside and an outside of the corner, respectively. A discontinuous first internal ply is sandwiched between the first and second external plies so that more of the first internal ply is located within the first section than within the second section. A second internal ply is sandwiched between the first and second external plies. The fibers of the first internal ply run at an angle ? to the fibers of the second internal ply. In some embodiments the angle ? is greater than 3° but less than 20°. In one embodiment the angle ? is between 35° and 42°.

Abstract: A package reclosing strip includes an adhesive layer that extends the full width of a flexible film strip. Formation of a dry edge on the strip, suitable for grasping by the user, is accomplished either by adhering a strip of material such as a dry tape or by the application of a liquid overcoating which chemically deadens the adhesive. The dry edge tape material is preferably made of mono-oriented polypropylene. The film strip is substantially transparent and includes graphics on the underside, beneath the adhesive coating. The graphics show through the film strip, providing visibility of the graphics from the outside.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an enhanced perimeter polymer sheet. The enhanced perimeter polymeric sheet is generally comprised of a polymeric film substrate and may have a first enhanced perimeter region proximate to a first edge of the polymeric film substrate. The first enhanced perimeter region may further comprise an area extending generally along at least a portion of said first edge of the polymeric film substrate. A primary region of the enhanced perimeter plastic sheet may be defined by the polymeric film substrate. The primary region may be located generally inward from the first enhanced perimeter region and the primary region may have a set of attributes. The first enhanced perimeter region will have a set of attributes. Moreover, at least one attribute of the set of attributes of the first enhanced perimeter region may differ from a corresponding attribute of the set of attributes of the primary region.

Abstract: A presence detection system for detecting presence of a living being (2) within an area (4), the system comprising a first light source (6a) providing light of a first spectrum, a first sensing means (8a; 10a) which is arranged to filter the light of the first spectrum. The first sensing means produces a first presence detection signal (12a) based on the light of the first spectrum originated from the first light source and reflected from the living being (2). The presence detection system comprises a processor device (14) for concluding the living being's presence within the area (4) based on the first presence detection signal (12a). The processor device provides a position (22a) of the living being (2) within the area based on the intensity of the first presence detection signal (12a) and based on the known position of the first light source (6a) within the area (4).
