Patent number: 5217766Abstract: A method for forming stabilized preforms for complex composite articles is disclosed using a solid meltable uncatalyzed thermosetting resin as the stabilizing agent. The resin is applied to each layer of the preform and heated to melt the resin and bond the layers together. After cooling, the resin resolidifies but does not set and thereby holds the layers in the desired preform shape. The layers can be first formed into a flat sheet as a raw material from which shaped preforms can be made by cutting the sheet into sections which are placed over a mandrel and reheating to thereby remelt the solid resin to allow the preform to conform to the shape of the mandrel. Utilizing this process allows complex composite parts to be easily preformed and assembled prior to placement in a mold for resin injection molding, without inhibiting part strength as the resin is compatible with the injection resin and is cocatalyzed by the catalyst contained in the injection resin.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 1992Date of Patent: June 8, 1993Assignee: United Technologies CorporationInventors: Nicholas P. Patent number: 5013591Abstract: A bituminous building sheeting which is compatible with hot mopping bitumen and bituminous cold adhesives and whose covering mass is modified with APP and IPP. The mass, homogenized under high shear forces is cooled off after the application of 180.degree. to 200.degree. C. at a cooling speed of not more than 120 K/min. Polymer spherulites form on the surface thereby which improve the adhesiveness and prevent oily components from exuding out of the bitumen.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 1989Date of Patent: May 7, 1991Assignee: Rutgerswerke AktiengesellschaftInventors: Bert Haushofer, Ernst Scherp, Wilfried Schumacher, Petru Sabau

Patent number: 4987017Abstract: A thermoplastic elastomer composition which comprises 25-95% by weight of a polyamide and 75-5% by weight of a halogenated butyl rubber, a chlorosulfonated polyethylene or both thereof. Said composition is excellent in resistance to Freon gas permeation and has good oil resistance and low-temperature resistance. A hose wherein the layer to be contacted with a gas is made of the above thermoplastic elastomer composition is suitable as a Freon gas R-22 hose.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 1990Date of Patent: January 22, 1991Assignee: Japan Synthetic Rubber Co., Ltd.Inventors: Hozumi Sato, Humito Shimada, Akio Sakaguchi, Yasuhiko Takemura, Tadaaki Nishi, Hisao Ono, Masanobu Nagano, Takumi Miyachi

Patent number: 4985286Abstract: An abrasion-concealing agent for glass containers, which comprises (A) a polyorganosiloxane and (B) a volatile polydimethylsiloxane, a glass container in which abrasions on the surface thereof have been concealed by the abrasion-concealing agent, and a method for concealing abrasions on a glass container by using the abrasion-concealing agent. The abrasion-concealing agent has excellent abrasion-concealing properites, film strength, water resistance, safety, workability and resistance to an aqueous alkaline solution washing, and does not cause any damage to labels on glass containers in the coating process.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 1990Date of Patent: January 15, 1991Assignees: Toshiba Silicone Co. Patent number: 4977002Abstract: Apparatus and method for applying heat shrinkable film to containers and other articles having a vertical body position, e.g., the cylindrical body of a container, and one or two re-entrant portions, e.g., a shoulder on a bottle. A segment of film is applied to the vertical surface without heat shrinking and with one or two end portions overlapping the re-entrant part of the article. Heat is applied to the overlap or overlaps to shrink them onto the article.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 1989Date of Patent: December 11, 1990Assignee: B & H Manufacturing Company, Inc.Inventor: Wolfgang Hoffman

Patent number: 4971844Abstract: A device for fixing or transferring and fixing a powder containing thermoplastic resin on to a receiving material under the influence of pressure and heat, in which device the fixing member in pressure contact with the powder during the fixing of the powder image is provided with an outer covering consisting mainly of silicone rubber. The silicone rubber is the reaction product of polyorganosiloxane bearing Si--H groups and polyorganosiloxane which bears Si--(CH.dbd.CH.sub.2) groups and which on average contains between 40 and 1000 monomeric units per polymer chain, bears 1.5-4 terminal vinyl groups, bears at most one non-terminal vinyl group per 80 monomeric units and contains at most 2% Si atoms in the form of SiO3/2 or SiO4/2 units. The thickness of the silicone rubber covering is preferably less than 500 micrometers.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 1989Date of Patent: November 20, 1990Assignee: Oce-Nederland B.V.Inventors: Bauke Schoustra, Johannes H.
