The thin thermally insulating coating is comprised of a binder and void containing particles, ranging from 0.1 microns to 200 microns in size, adapted to being restricted by the binder. A heat-activated adhesive is supported by the inside surface of the sidewall. When the sleeve is heated the heat activated adhesive bonds the sleeve to the cup.

The ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer forming the third layer functions as a barrier for preventing contaminants from migrating from outside of the third layer toward the first layer (innermost layer). Further, it is possible to improve the formability of the multilayer film since the difference in density between the resin for forming the first layer and the resin for forming the second layer is set to be 0.02 g/cm3 or less.

Labels made from films of the present invention can be thermally adhered to glass substrates and exhibit sufficient adhesion to glass substrates to withstand washing/rinsing, filling, and pasteurization processes utilized in the bottling industry.

    Abstract: A pack of articles (2) packaged using a plastic material film (3) having a preferred direction of tearing (D), a plurality of articles (2) being disposed side by side in one or more superposed layers, the film being folded over along a winding direction (E) around the articles which it retains, opening means being provided on the film to facilitate the tearing thereof. The means for opening the film (3) comprise a continuous zone of weakening (A), which zone is oriented transversely to the preferred direction of tearing (D), and forming a band (6) which surrounds the pack, this zone of weakening (A) having a mechanical strength which is sufficiently high to bear the traction stresses exerted on the film to retain the articles, but sufficiently low to permit opening of the film, without a tool, at any point whatsoever of the zone.

A polypropylene composition for a laminated and oriented film being film-formed for a long time without hurting a transparency and a low temperature heat-sealing property and having an excellent solvent resistance and an excellent hot-tack property, and a laminated and oriented film having this composition on a surface layer are provided.

    Abstract: The subject invention pertains to a film structure suitable for the packaging of perishable food, comprising at least one film layer which in turn comprises a blend of at least one homogeneous linear or substantially linear ethylene polymer and at least one polypropylene polymer, wherein the film structure is characterized as having a 2% secant modulus which is at least 8% greater than a comparable film structure prepared without the polypropylene polymer, an oxygen transmission rate of at least 700 cc(at STP)-mil/100 in..sup.2 -day-atm at 25.degree. C. The inventive film structures exhibit an optimized balance of properties, making them especially useful in modified atmosphere packages for perishable goods. The inventive films are particularly suited for the packaging of fresh fruits, vegetables, and other perishable items which would benefit from controlled access to environmental oxygen.

The cross-linked phenoxy resin comprises a solvent-soluble phenoxy resin of the formula ##STR1## wherein the solvent-soluble phenoxy resin is cross-linked by a melamine formaldehyde resin.
