Patent number: 7972670Abstract: A structured paper release liner (10) for use with an article (44) backed with a pressure sensitive adhesive, an adhesive-backed article assembly (42) and methods of making each are disclosed. The liner (10) comprises a piece of paper (14) having a release side free of a structural support layer, a back side, and a structured release surface (48) having a pattern formed into the paper (14) on the release side. A release material is on the structured release surface of the paper. The pattern formed in the paper (14) is designed so as to form fluid egress channels in a bonding surface of the pressure sensitive adhesive (46). The fluid egress channels define a structured bonding surface (48) having exit pathways for fluid to bleed out from behind the article when the structured bonding surface (48) is adhered to or otherwise disposed on a substrate.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 2004Date of Patent: July 5, 2011Assignee: 3M Innovative Properties CompanyInventors: David S. Patent number: 7967049Abstract: An apparatus for automatically peeling a removal tape from a removal-tape-attached adhesive tape and affixing the adhesive tape to a battery module. A removal-tape-attached adhesive insulation tape supplied from an uncoiler is held in a folded state by means of a carrier plate. The carrier plate reciprocates between a first position and a second position. When the carrier plate has moved from the first position to the second position, a tape holding unit holds the tape by means of suction. Subsequently, as a result of movement of the carrier plate from the second position to the first position, the removal tape is peeled from the removal-tape-attached adhesive insulation tape T, thereby uncovering an adhesive surface of the adhesive tape. The battery module is dropped toward the adhesive tape at an inclination with reference to the vertical direction, whereby the adhesive tape is affixed to the battery module.Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 2007Date of Patent: June 28, 2011Assignee: Panasonic EV Energy Co., Ltd.Inventor: Masahito Minamikawa

Patent number: 7964259Abstract: A security label 1 according to the present invention can be removably applied on an image photographing device such as a mobile phone 2 incorporating therein a digital camera to cover a lens part 3 thereof. Upon removal, the security label 1 is bent and makes a trace emerge which shows that the security label 1 has been removed. By applying the security label 1 to the mobile phone 2 to cover the lens part 3 thereof, improper photography can be prevented. In a case where the security label 1 is removed to take a photograph, the trace remains on the security label 1 even if the security label 1 is applied again on the mobile phone 2 to cover the lens part 3 thereof. Thus, the fact that a photograph is improperly taken can be easily understood.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 2005Date of Patent: June 21, 2011Assignee: Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd.Inventors: Wataru Koshu, Yoichi Takahashi, Michiro Usui, Kazuhiro Sasaki
