Abstract: Disclosed is a co-extruded water-proof and moisture-permeable film structure, including a top skin layer, a core layer, and a bottom skin layer. The top and bottom skin layers include polyolefin or polyurethane and the core layer comprise polyurethane. The core layer is disposed between the top and bottom skin layers. If polyurethane is adopted in top and/or bottom skin layers, the polyurethane of the skin layers has lower moisture and vapor permeability than the polyurethane of the core layer. The described film can be manufactured by co-extruded bubble blown or co-extruded casting. In addition, the film can be laminated to a fabric to form a water-proof and moisture-permeable textile.

  • Publication number: 20090053447
Abstract: The invention describes a double-sided, carrierless self-adhesive tape which can be used in particular for achieving very durable adhesive bonding of a variety of articles. This double-sided, carrierless self-adhesive tape is composed of a homogeneously crosslinked pressure-sensitive acrylate hotmelt composition of single-layer construction, which may have been lined with release materials such as siliconized release papers or release films. The double-sided, carrierless pressure-sensitive adhesive tape is characterized in that it is composed of a photoinitiator-free, thermally homogeneously crosslinked acrylate hotmelt which is crosslinked predominantly by way of urethane units. It is notable in particular for the fact that it is homogeneously chemically crosslinked through the layer and, in contrast to acrylate layers crosslinked by radiation (UV/EBC), does not exhibit any profile of crosslinking through the layer.

Abstract: Material with high oxygen barrier properties is prepared by evaporating polyfunctional acrylate monomer and condensing the acrylate as a monomer film on a plastic sheet, or by roll coating acrylate monomer onto a sheet in a vacuum. The acrylate is polymerized by irradiation by ultraviolet or electron beam. A layer of metal or oxide oxygen barrier material is applied over the first layer of cross-linked acrylate. A polymerized acrylate layer is applied over the metal layer. Low oxygen permeability polypropylene, polyester or nylon sheets can be made by these methods. Adhesion of the acrylate layer on the plastic sheet substrate is enhanced by reactive plasma treatment of a surface immediately before deposition, the plasma treatment and coating being conducted in vacuum within less than three seconds between plasma treatment and coating. Condensation efficiency is also enhanced by chilling the substrate of the substrate on which the acrylate is condensed to temperatures below 0° C.

  • Patent number: 6818305
Abstract: A molding method and a metal-covered plastic component such as partial or entire fascia, body side moldings, and the like, which have bright surface requirements and which includes a film sheet and a one-piece thermoplastic elastomeric structural carrier are provided. The film sheet includes a decorative layer of metal such as chrome. A plastic layer of the film sheet on which the layer of metal is formed is selected from a group consisting of polyester, polyurethane and polycarbonate. A bottom contact surface of the film sheet bonds with a front contact surface of the structural carrier by diffusion between the contact surfaces thereof within a mold cavity of an injection mold separate from the step of forming a preform which is securely positioned within the injection mold during injection molding to form the plastic part.

Abstract: The polarizing plate protection film of the present invention has excellent adhesion with the polarizer because of the polyurethane resin layer formed on the thermoplastic saturated norbornene-type resin film. In addition, blocking of the protection film can be prevented by the PVA layer formed on the polyurethane resin layer. The polarizing plate using the protection film of the present invention is excellent in terms of durability under high temperature and high humidity conditions, and it is suitably used for liquid crystal displays and such.
