Publication number: 20090133798Abstract: A method for manufacturing a bead cord wire includes the steps of subjecting a steel wire to a descaling treatment, subjecting the descaling-treated steel wire to a chemical conversion coating treatment through electrolysis so as to form a phosphate coating on a surface of the steel wire, and subjecting the chemical-conversion-coating-treated steel wire to drawing so as to produce a bead cord wire. In producing the bead cord wire, the drawing is conducted in such a way that the phosphate coating remains on the surface of the bead cord wire.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 16, 2007Publication date: May 28, 2009Applicants: SUMITOMO (SEI) STEEL WIRE CORP., SUMITOMO ELECTRIC TOCHIGI CO., LTD.Inventors: Hiroshi Sasabe, Hitoshi Wakahara, Yuichi Sano, Kenichi Okamoto

Publication number: 20090088278Abstract: An annular metal cord includes an annular core portion formed in an annular shape, and an outer layer portion spirally wound around the annular core portion while running over an annular circumference thereof plural times and covering an outer peripheral surface of the annular core portion. Each of the annular core portion and the outer layer portion are formed by a strand material which is formed by intertwisting a plurality of metal filaments. The annular core portion and the outer layer portion are formed by a continuous strand material.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 5, 2007Publication date: April 2, 2009Applicants: SUMITOMO (SEI) STEEL WIRE CORP., SUMITOMO ELECTRIC TOCHIGI CO., LTD.Inventors: Hiroshi Sasabe, Hitoshi Wakahara, Yuichi Sano, Kenichi Okamoto

Publication number: 20090087678Abstract: An annular metal cord and an endless metal belt are provided which have superior breaking strength and which are easy to be produced. The annular metal cord includes an annular core portion 3 and an outer layer portion 4. The annular core portion 3 is formed by connecting together both ends of a first strand material 1 which is made up of six twisted first metal filaments 5. The outer layer portion 4 is formed by winding spirally a second strand material 2 which is made up of six twisted second metal filaments 6 around the annular core portion 3. The second strand material 2 is wound at a predetermined winding angle relative to a center axis of the annular core portion 3, and a winding initiating end portion and a winding terminating end portion thereof are connected together. Since it is not that six second strand materials 2 are not wound but that the second strand material 2 is wound six rounds, there only has to be the single second strand material 2, and there is only one connecting portion.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 9, 2006Publication date: April 2, 2009Inventors: Hiroshi Sasabe, Hitoshi Wakahara, Yuichi Sano, Kenichi Okamoto, Koji Kato, Masaki Saito

Publication number: 20080318077Abstract: Metal cable having two layers of construction 4+N comprising an inner layer C1 of four wires of diameter d1 wound together in a helix at a pitch p1, this layer C1 itself being surrounded by an outer layer C2 of N wires of diameter d2 wound together in a helix at a pitch p2. The cable has the following characteristics (d1, d2, p1 and p2 in mm): 0.25<d1<0.40, 0.25<d2<0.40, 3.5<p1<7<p2<14. Such a cable, of preferred construction 4+9, is in particular usable for reinforcing tires, in particular as an anchoring means for a carcass reinforcement of a tire without a solid bead wire.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 11, 2005Publication date: December 25, 2008Inventors: Henri Barguet, Thibaud Pottier, Denis Alvarez, Christian Signoret
