The metal sheet layers include metal foil having a thickness of 0.006 in. The valley areas are disposed between compressed and uncompressed portions of the structural foil formed during compression of portions of the structural foil. In addition to the valley areas, the structural foil includes spacers. The spacers within the metal sheet layers provide spacing between portions of the metal layers such that the structural foil functions as both a heat shield and an acoustic shield.

Abstract: A method for producing a bent extruded profile that includes extruding a first profile bar having a first lateral formation, extruding a second profile bar having a second lateral formation corresponding in a form-fitting manner to the first lateral formation, and inserting the first lateral formation into the second lateral formation so as to connect the first and second profile bars and to create a form-fitting connection restricting relative movement between the first and second profile bars in all directions except a longitudinal direction of the profile bars. The method also includes bending the connected first and second profile bars using a bending process, wherein after bending, the form-fitting connection restricts relative movement between the first and second profile bars in all directions. In addition, an extruded profile including a first profile bar having a first formation on a first longitudinal side and a second profile bar having a second formation on a second longitudinal side.

Abstract: This invention relates to a method of forming a substrate with preparing a surface capable of making a cocontinuous bond comprising the steps of 1) obtaining a copper or copper alloy substrate and 2) applying an etching composition which comprises (a) an acid, (b) an oxidizing agent, (c) a copper complexing agent, and (d) a copper complex, wherein the copper complex is present in an amount which precipitates when applied to the copper or copper alloy substrate. The method also includes the step of 3) treating the substrate with a coating composition and/or 4) applying a stripping composition to the substrate. The invention also relates to copper articles, having surface porosity, including multilayer articles such as printed circuit boards and compositions used in the method. The present invention provides microporous copper or copper alloy substrates which have improved adhesion properties to organic material.

Abstract: A fuel cell corrugated current collector having successive spaced rows of corrugations, with the corrugations in a given row establishing successive peak and valley regions along the given row and the spaced rows of corrugations being adapted so that corresponding peak regions from row-to-row establish through passages for receiving and supporting solid catalyst elements. The spaced rows of corrugations are such that there is a given pitch between successive peak regions. The corrugations in the rows are also such that corresponding peak regions from row-to-row have a finite off-set which is less than 50 percent of the pitch. This establishes a plurality of through passages in the current collector each extending from row-to-row for receiving and supporting the solid catalyst elements. Also, the off-set is based on the catalyst dimensions and is set such that the corrugations engage the catalyst elements.

The legs are inserted to insert holes of a printed wiring board or the like and soldered thereto. Since the slit is formed adjacent to the leg, the heat applied to the leg for the soldering is not radiated by the body unit by virtue of the slit. Therefore, the part can be reliably attached to the printed wiring board or the like.

Abstract: A lamella strip intended for further processing into a framework band with a U-shaped or V-shaped cross-section comprises lamellae (2) defined by separating cuts (1) which stand opposite one another in pairs, which lamellae are connected with one another via bridges (4). Each lamella (2) is divided by a center cut (6). Each lamella has two oblong bead-like stamp marks (7), which are arranged on both sides of the center cut (6), and end at a distance (A) from the edges (3) of the lamella strip, forming a smooth end region (8). To produce such a lamella strip, first the separating cuts (1) and center cuts (6) are made in a strip of sheet metal, before the bead-like stamp marks (7) are formed.
