  • Patent number: 6117515
Abstract: Disposable garments, protective clothing and accessory items formed from one or more layers of fractured plastic film or treated nonwoven material are provided for use in clean rooms and similar working environments. The use of non-particulating or low particulating fractured plastic films and treated nonwoven materials reduces particulate contamination resulting from wearing the associated garment or using the accessory item in a clean room environment. Samples of disposable clean room products may be tested in a manner that closely approximates the intended application for the respective disposable clean room product to provide a more realistic measure of particulate emission rates during actual wear or use.

  • Patent number: 6103341
Abstract: A partition for forming a barrier in a channel has a molded resin-based plate and a plurality of thermally expandable pellets attached to one side of the plate. The partition is secured in place in the channel by mounting brackets. As heat is applied, a blowing agent in the pellets is activated and the pellets expand to many times their original volume. The resultant foam seals the gap between the plate and the surrounding structure and further secures the plate in place. The partition is particularly useful in forming a sound/water/air barrier in an automotive cavity.

  • Patent number: 6045891
Abstract: A mold apparatus and method for forming encapsulated glass which includes the use of a plurality of mold sections 10 and 12 which, when closed, cooperate with a sheet 5 and at least one seal 25 to define a gasket forming cavity 35. When a gasket forming material is injected into the gasket forming cavity 35 and is allowed to at least partially cure, a gasket 2 is formed on at least a portion of the sheet 5 to produce a window gasket assembly 50. A seal 25 with an outwardly angled facing portion 27 defines an interior face 37 of the gasket forming cavity 35 and prevents leakage of the gasket forming material and the formation of flash on the sheet 5. In one embodiment of the invention, the mold section 12 is made of a resilient material and mold section 10 is made of a rigid material. In another embodiment of the invention, mold section 12 has positioned therewithin a rigid member 45 having a finishing surface 48 which cooperates with the seal 25 and the sheet 5 to define a gasket forming cavity 35.

Abstract: A slitting and scoring machine includes an upper tooling roller and a lower tooling roller that cooperate to define a tooling nip. Each tooling roller includes an alternating series of coaxially arranged annular knives, annular dies, and annular mandrels. A web of insulation is drawn through the tooling nip to simultaneously (i) cut the web into strips, (ii) score the strips in a manner that promotes the forming of the strips, and (iii) partially form the strips into modified U-shapes. Each strip includes a longitudinally extending middle segment and a pair of longitudinally extending side segments that extend away from the middle segment in a divergent manner to define a longitudinally extending channel. Longitudinally extending grooves are formed by the scoring at the junctures of the middle segment and the side segments. The scoring/grooves promote the divergent shape of the strip.

  • Patent number: 5194309
Abstract: A flat web-shaped blank is formed with a pair of parallel recesses, each of which defines an angle of less than 90.degree. to permit the faces of the recess to press against each other when the side sections of the blank are pivoted into a U-shape. The pressing of the lateral faces of the recess against each other serves to bias the side sections away from each other. The flat blank can be wound in a coil for storage and transportation purposes. The blank can be readily shaped into a U-shaped guide rail and inserted into the groove of an associated window frame portion. Shoulders on the outside of the side sections of the blank can snap fit into grooves in the walls of the groove of the window frame portion.

  • Patent number: 5135788
Abstract: A glass pane has a pair of opposite faces and an outer edge and is held in a structural channel forming a groove by an adapter. The adapter is formed in part by respective metallic edge strips each having an inner portion overlying a respective face of the pane and an outer portion projecting outward therefrom and into the groove. The outer edge of the pane is spaced from the channel and lies wholly outside the groove. Inner portions of the strips are secured to the respective faces of the pane and a nonmetallic bar is secured between the outer portions of the edge strips and engaged in the groove. The strips are secured to the glass by an adhesive and each strip includes a perforate under strip adhered to the glass and an imperforate cover strip adhered atop the under strip. The adhesive has a silicone or water-glass base and is quite resistant to heat.

  • Patent number: 5080950
Abstract: A laminated structural panel which is especially well suited for the construction of a bulkhead used to partition a trailer or other cargo container. The center of the panel is formed by a polyurethane foam core panel sandwiched between a pair of flexible plastic reinforcing sheets adhesively bonded to opposite sides of the core panel. Additional layers of foam are adhesively bonded to the reinforcing sheets, and the outer foam layers are covered by puncture and abrasion resistant skins which are adhesively bonded to the foam. The reinforcing sheets provide the structural foam with tensile strength and with both beam and column strength because of their ability to resist being stretched. The outer foam layers provide impact resistance and enhanced strength due to the effect of the added laminations.

  • Patent number: 5045374
Abstract: A stiff plastic strip is formed to provide reinforcement for longitudinal edges at which interior drywall surfaces meet and for capping corners formed of sheets of wallboard meeting at orthogonal angles. A pair of laterally directed flanges extend in diverging fashion from a central transversely curved region of the plastic strip. A contact sensitive adhesive strip is mounted on each of the flanges to extend longitudinally therealong so as to allow the plastic strip to be pressed against drywall or wallboard surfaces. One of the flanges of the plastic strip may be slit periodically throughout its length to allow it conform to arches and circular openings. In another embodiment a stiff, water impervious plastic sheet with three flanges extending outwardly therefrom has contact sensitive adhesive layers disposed on each of the flanges. The structure can thereby serve as a cap for protruding soffit corners.

  • Patent number: 4977010
Abstract: The elongated strips of came have a U-shaped cross section or an H-shaped cross section. An elongated strip of resilient cushion layer having an adhesive coating on its top surface is pressed into mating contact with the inside surface of the came. The resilient cushion layer functions to prevent chatter or rattle of glass panes that have their edge surface inserted into the came strips. The came acts like a bony skeleton to hold individual pieces of glass pane together in an assembly such as found in book cases and stained glass windows.
