Patent number: 10631527Abstract: A fishing lure made of soft yarn ball that had a hole through the center. The fibrous ball increases the holding power of scent oil. The ability to hold more scent oil means that it takes longer for the scent oil to work out of the ball and thus leaves a longer lasting and larger scent trail for game fish to hone in on. The scent ball is easily adaptable to any type of artificial lure rigging a fisherman chose to use. The soft yarn balls are made from materials used in fly tying. These fibrous products come in highly visible colors. Some even have UV responding dyes that fish respond to. As noted above, the center hole is a carbon fiber micro tube. It is this use of the micro tube that allows the yarn to be tied sufficiently tight to allow for extending holding of the scent oils.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 2017Date of Patent: April 28, 2020Inventor: Donald Habeger

The outwardly extending protrusion slaps against the water as the lure is moved on the top of the water, both on open water as well as on or over weeds, lily pads, and the like. The lure may be segmented or smooth, as desired. Different embodiments of the lure are presented, included different configurations of the protrusion.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 2000Date of Patent: June 25, 2002Inventor: Fred Ward, Sr.

Patent number: 6363651Abstract: An artificial, aquatic fishing lure which imitates the swimming motion of fresh and salt water fish and the method of manufacturing the same. The lure is used with a rod, line, hook, and usually a reel. The lure comprises an elongate body having thin, flexible fins extending along the body of the lure where the outer edges of these fins are longer in length than the attached edges. In another embodiment, a tail portion is included which may be helical in shape or ruffled. The helical design is present in a relaxed state. On tow through water, the helix is extended in a planar manner so that the fin forms a wavy or ruffled sheet-like membrane. In another embodiment, the lure is formed with a tail comprising two appendages which extend from the distal tail portion of the elongate body in an adjacent relationship to one another. In tow through water, the appendages which comprise the tail separate and effect the desired motion.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 1996Date of Patent: April 2, 2002Inventor: Gregory C. Garst

Patent number: 6219955Abstract: An artificial fly/lure includes a body mounted about the shank of a hook. The body is formed of an open mesh weave material secured to the hook. A plurality of open mesh woven material appendages are secured to the body. The appendages project outwardly from the body to a freely movable outer end. A flexible rod is interposed within each appendage. The appendages in several aspects form wings to enable the artificial fly/lure to be constructed in the shape of a naturally occurring fish or insert, such as a flying fish, mayfly or grasshopper. Additional appendages in the form of legs may also be provided on certain of the lures. In another aspect, the body has angularly disposed ends from a central portion which carries the shank of the hook to form the lure in the natural shape of a worm.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 2000Date of Patent: April 24, 2001Assignee: B-17 Fly Tackle LimitedInventor: Thomas A. Patent number: 6212818Abstract: A soft bait fish lure having an elongated body composed of two parts of which the head part is composed of a hard material while the rearmost part representing the tail of the lure is composed of a soft and flexible material. The two parts are joined together by an adhesive so as to provide an integral lure. The rearmost tail part includes cutouts on each side to reduce the thickness so that an integral hinge is formed permitting the tail fin to flex and move simulating swimming motion as the lure is drawn through the water. Flexible legs or claws are integrally formed with the hard part. The midsection of the lure includes an attachment for a fishing line and a hook with a weed guard is included. Guide means are included for aligning the head part with the tail part during attachment. Sound attraction is produced by a rattle device installed in the head part complementing the over-all lure ability. A weight is strategically placed in the head part to stabilize the lure.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 1999Date of Patent: April 10, 2001Inventor: Samuel M. Huddleston
