Abstract: A flame adjusting device for a gas burning device includes a flame adjusting wheel securely mounted to a disk of a valve on a gas tank and a neck extends from a side of the flame adjusting wheel and a ring is mounted to the neck. A protrusion extends from the ring and is accessible for the users. When shifting the protrusion, the ring and the flame adjusting wheel rotate to adjust the gas released via the valve. When a user wants to change the volume of gas released via the valve, he/she holds the protrusion and rotates the flame adjusting wheel so that the disk of the valve is rotated while the ring is remained still.

  • Patent number: 6234784
Abstract: A safety lighter uses a double release lock mechanism applied to a conventional construction of igniter and valve release. Before the lighter can be activated and a flame produced, a latching collar around the button normally pressed to cause operation of the lighter must be released from a locking position in which this button is locked from being pushed down by an interior set of fingers engaging a ledge. The latching collar is itself locked into the button by the restraint between a first tab and groove latch and is only released by a pressure which disengages this first tab and groove restraint therebetween. With this tab and groove latch released by a strong thumb pressure of the operator that can only be done by an adult, the collar can be slid down to a point where a second tab and groove latch is activated between the button and collar. At this point the latch fingers are forced off the ledge, but downward extending arms of the collar engage the same ledge.

The gas lighter comprises a gas ignition device including a corrugated wheel secured on a shaft rotatably and movably mounted in profiled openings of body brackets, as well as a flint spring pressed toward the corrugated wheel. The cylindrical shaft of the corrugated wheel is mounted in said opening so as to move along a direction which is transverse relative to a direction of action of the flint spring, and in a direction coinciding with the direction of action of the flint spring. The opening is a convex polygon with a right angle between adjacent walls. The ends of the wall of corrugated wheel are provided with spigots having a polygonal surface.

Abstract: A device for removably securing an object having a detent to a support. The support includes having a receiver to receive a portion of the perimeter of the object including the detent. The receiver may be cup-shaped. The support further includes a deformable tab disposed which is received by the detent. The tab may be disposed on a prong and the detent may be disposed on the perimeter of a well where the well is shaped to receive the prong. When engaged, the tab couples to said detent to removably secure the object to said support. The support also includes an actuator engaging the deformable tab to decouple the tab from said detent. The support may optionally be coupled to a key chain or a tether. In a second aspect of the invention, the support receives a portion of the perimeter of a cigarette lighter to secure the cigarette lighter from child-tampering and accidental ignition.

Abstract: An improved safety mechanism of a lighter contains an idle wheel with coarse grains, pivoted on two ratchet arms on the top end face of the lighter; a seat right below the idle wheel; a tension spring received within the seat and a flint bar provided between the tension spring and the idle wheel. The oval axle of the idle wheel of an oval shape is loosely inserted in a smaller hole at the upper portion of an egg shaped slot on the two ratchet arms, the portion of the egg shaped slot being bigger gradually downward. Upon lighting up, an appropriate counterbalance force against the spring tension is applied for the oval axle of the idle wheel to shift downward into the lower portion of the egg shaped slot and then the idle wheel may be rotated to rub against the flint bar to effect ignition.

Abstract: A safety mechanism in a cigarette lighter that utilizes a double-button actuator system. The safety button has an aperture through which is positioned an ignition button. The safety button and the ignition button are adjoined by a flange such that when the safety button is depressed the ignition button is also depressed. The safety mechanism also includes a stopper which limits the downward movement of the safety button. Thus the safety button translates downward sufficiently to operate the fuel-release lever opening the fuel-discharge valve. However, in order to activate the piezoelectric unit the ignition button must be depressed below the level of the contact surface of the safety button.

Abstract: A lighter safety system which in a first "safety on" position prevents the ignition of the lighter by blocking the depression of the lighter trigger. The simultaneous forward engagement of a safety pin with the operator's thumb and the rearward depression of the trigger by the operator's fingers (of the same hand) allows the lighter to ignite. The safety pin is pivotable about a positioning pillar in the housing. • Patent number: 6077069
Abstract: A selectively actuatable child resistant lighter device is disclosed which includes a body defining reservoir for containing a combustible gaseous medium such as butane, and having a valve arranged to be selectively actuated between a normally closed position and an open position which permits the exit of the gaseous medium. Such child resistant lighter can selectively produce sparks at a location proximate to the gaseous medium exit to ignite the gaseous medium, and a safety mechanism prevents actuation of the valve to the open position when sparks are produced. Such child resistant lighter device embodies a resiliently releasable safety latch which prevents the actuation of the valve actuator to the open position. The safety latch is selectively movable to a position out of interference with the valve actuator, so that the gaseous medium may be released and ignited by the sparks.

Abstract: A lighter of the disposable type, ignition of which requires depression of an actuator that is resistant to the manipulations of unintended users. The lighter is normally maintained in a position that prevents depression of the actuator through the incorporation of a mechanism that increases the difficulty of operation. The safety mechanism requires displacement in two directions in order to allow full depression of the actuator and activation of an ignition means. When the mechanism is so displaced through the application of force by a user, it cannot remain displaced without continuous application of such force and will return to the normal, blocking, position when the force is removed.
