Patent number: 11655975Abstract: The present invention is a lamp apparatus that includes a reservoir for flammable liquids and a wick that can be incorporated with a post and within the cap of a post, such as a deck or fence post. The apparatus can include an external housing that attaches to a post and contains and conceals the internal components of the lamp apparatus within the external housing. This external housing can resemble and function as the cap of a post. The apparatus may allow for a user to remove a snuffing cap from the top of the external housing and ignite the lamp's wick, which then allows the post to function as a torch. The apparatus may also allow for a user to place the snuffing cap back on the top of the external housing to extinguish the flame and discreetly conceal that a lamp is contained within the cap of the post.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 2021Date of Patent: May 23, 2023Inventors: Eric A. Patent number: 8641413Abstract: A device for producing a stable and augmented flame includes a fluid-inducing assembly and a shield. The fluid-inducing assembly includes a flow-diverting mechanism defining a flow-intake end and a flow-accelerating end and includes a plurality of vanes extending from the flow-intake end to the flow-accelerating end. The plurality of vanes is circumferentially disposed and spaced from one another. Furthermore, two vanes include a space defined therebetween, and the space defines a passage which is spiral-shaped. The flow-diverting mechanism further includes a covering member with an enclosed circumferential edge circumferentially surrounded. Thus, each vane in the flow-accelerating end is encircled by the covering member, and each vane in the flow-intake end is exposed to outside and not covered by the covering member. In addition, the shield is hollow and is disposed above the fluid-inducing assembly.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 2011Date of Patent: February 4, 2014Assignee: Pro-Iroda Industries, Inc.Inventors: Wei-Long Chen, Jan-Nan Chen

Patent number: 7083409Abstract: An oil burning lamp has a fuel reservoir, a fuel expansion chamber releasably and sealingly coupled to the fuel reservoir, a burner assembly coupled to the fuel expansion chamber, and an adjustable wick. If the fuel in the fuel reservoir undergoes thermal expansion, it flows into the fuel expansion chamber, thereby preventing fuel leaks and spills. In the preferred embodiment, the burner assembly is permanently coupled to the fuel expansion chamber, thereby preventing users from refueling the lamp while the lamp is burning. The fuel expansion chamber also serves as an overflow fuel chamber, so that if the lamp is inadvertently knocked over, the fuel will flow into the fuel expansion chamber, not out of the lamp.Type: GrantFiled: August 1, 2002Date of Patent: August 1, 2006Assignee: World Factory, Inc.Inventors: Gregory G. Patent number: 6848901Abstract: The present invention provides methods and apparatus for controlling a flame. One embodiment comprises a reservoir for a flame-fueling liquid, a wick, and a collar surrounding the wick. The first end of the wick is within the reservoir and a flame-bearing end is above the first end. Flame-fueling liquid is supplied to the reservoir and is communicated up the wick to fuel a flame emanating from the flame-bearing end of the wick. The collar is slidable along a vertical axis between a first and second position. In the first position, the top of the collar is located above the flame-bearing end of the wick to block the flow of air from reaching the wick. In the second position, the top of the collar is located blow the flame-bearing end of the wick, such that it does not substantially block the flow of air from reaching the wick.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 2003Date of Patent: February 1, 2005Inventor: Susumu Matsuyama
