Abstract: The educational system for testing memorization provides a computerized classroom system for testing a student's memorization of a text to be recited, for example, the text of the Qur'an. A set of digital data representing a text of a written work to be memorized by a student, such as the text of the Qur'an, is recorded in a database. Upon selection of a text portion to be tested, the portion is divided into individual words, and the user recites the portion, with the audio input being received and recorded by the system. The audio input from the user is converted into textual data, which is compared with a corresponding word of the portion stored in the database. If the spoken word matches the corresponding word portion stored in the database, the word is instantly displayed on a computer display, and the user may then speak the next word.

Abstract: A method for reinforced programmed learning to enhance human acquisition of knowledge and skills which includes a step of providing an electronic device for reinforced learning arranged for electronic interaction with a student. On the electronic device for reinforced learning contains at least one database including course templates of preselected education information organized for at least partial retrieval in accordance prearranged course instances. An access information may be arranged to enable the electronic interaction between the electronic device and the at least one student, and storing information pertinent to the at least one student such that the at least one student may select the at least one of prearranged course instances and participate in interactive processing of the preselected education information.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods associated with interactive educational tools are described herein. One device includes instructions executable by a processor to cause a plurality of mobile devices to each represent a respective subsystem associated with an objective, cause an interaction between at least two of the plurality of mobile devices to represent a relationship between the respective subsystems represented by the at least two mobile devices, and aggregate a number of interactions between the at least two of the plurality of mobile devices to form a coordinated response associated with achieving a particular objective.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method and means of grading students. This invention is a software application utilizing profiling techniques that when combined or imbedded with available knowledge on the human learning experience will individually evaluate each student based on their current ability and capacity to learn, by subject. Student's tests are graded electronically against their personal ability and capability profile for grade. The profile system software is applicable to many learning situations requiring a measured outcome.

Abstract: A system and computer-implemented method that includes analyzing content of textual information, automatically deriving a plurality of questions from the analyzed content, presenting the plurality of questions derived, to a user via a user interface, determining, via the user, a validity of the plurality of questions, and generating at least one valid question as determined by a user along with a corresponding answer to the at least one valid question. The method further includes generating a summary of the textual information using the answers generated.

A computer software product and method are also provided for real-time capture of students' interactions with an online homework and grading system to produce timely updates to statistics on time spent answering questions. A computer program product and method are further provided to allow statistical data to be presented from WebAssign's online homework system without significantly increasing the IO requirements of the application database server.

Abstract: Systems and methods for collecting information about a student's educational and social activities from a plurality of networked sources, storing the information, and providing access to the information are provided. A collection component receives information associated with a student, including at least educational activity information. A portfolio component then associates the information in a portfolio for the student, which is stored in a data store, and an access component provide access to the portfolio. An educational activity component provides educational activities to the student and a social activity component provides a public interface and social activities for students.

Abstract: The computer-implemented system to facilitate creation of educational information employs a networked computer system that stores at least one resource in association with a first electronic file, storing metadata information about usage of the resource. A resource assembly tool implemented by a computer is programmed to access the networked computer system to display information to an instructor about at least one resource, including the metadata information. This aids the instructor in selecting resources for inclusion in educational information being created. The resource assembly tool is configured to assemble the educational information to include resources selected for inclusion being created for dissemination to learners via said networked computer system. The networked computer system is further configured to capture information about usage of the resource and to update the stored metadata information to reflect said captured information.

The scoring component instructs a remote healthcare professional to measure and document different aspects of the scored diagnostic test. Further, a video component of the scored diagnostic test is provided on the graphical display of the mobile device. The video component allows the remote healthcare professional to view a patient while remotely administering the scored diagnostic test.

Abstract: A digital media item, such as an electronic book (eBook), may include testing content. The testing content may include questions about the content of the digital media item. When is user is viewing the digital media item on an electronic device, such as an eBook reader, the user may be allowed to select whether the testing content is displayed. The user may also be allowed to select a particular mode of testing, such as automatic testing, selective testing, etc. If the user chooses to display the testing content, the user may also be allowed to provide answers to the testing questions.

Abstract: The present invention relates to methods and system for providing threaded feedback, in the form of a two way conversation between a teacher and a student. In one method, conversation data about a topic inputted by a first authorized user is received and that conversation data is transmitted to a second authorized user for display. In another method, conversation data about a topic inputted by a first authorized user is received from a central server and additional conversation data about the topic inputted by a second authorized user is transmitted to the central server. Systems to carry out these methods are also disclosed. The first and second authorized users include a teacher and/or a student. The conversation data includes rich media, and wherein the topics of conversation or feedback include at least educational targets or attainment of educational targets.

Abstract: A system and method for generating a test and an answer key to identify correct answers is disclosed. A test can be created by entering a set of questions with answer choices and correct answers at the same time. The tests can be rendered via a rendering device that includes both the questions and the answer choices. A ticket can be generated that drives a CNC (computer numerically control) machine to create a punched answer key with holes that align over correct answers. The answer key can also be rendered on a transparency utilizing a solid color everywhere except an area where the correct answer should be marked. The test and the answer key can also be rendered and aligned side by side in order to identify correct answers.

Abstract: A method is configured to provide a study pattern analysis service on a network, and a server used therewith. The server receives identification information from a smart pen used by a student to solve questions printed on a study material. The identification information, for each question is marked on locations where the questions are printed. The method and server generates study pattern information about the student based on the identification information received in the server. The study pattern analysis and study guidance for individual students using the study material are possible.

Abstract: A natural interactions academic course designer system and method that allows an educator to integrate a natural interactions forum (such as discussion boards, blogs, and collaborative wikis) into a formal curriculum. Embodiments of the system and method include a natural interactions integration module, which allows an educator to select a type of natural interaction forum and attaches a rubric, and a natural interactions provisioning module that creates the forum, determines the participants, and the learners to be assessed. Embodiments of the system and method also include an assessment module that assesses a validated learner using one or more of three different metrics. These metrics include a participation metric, a tagging metric, and a natural language processing metric. The assessment module then creates a raw score from the metrics used. Embodiments of the system and method also include a learner tracking module that generates a single final score for the assignment.

Each participant then ranks one or more of the options and the issues to create one or more influent functions for each survey. Thereafter, one or more influent functions associated with a participant is aggregated across all participants to create a collective influent function for each survey. The collective influent function for each survey is based on one or more of a satisfaction score and a dissonance score. The possible potential outcomes associated with each survey are then ranked based on the collective influent function.

The method steps include configuring a virtual machine manipulated by a student to complete the first training objective, configuring a smart agent to execute on the virtual machine including a validator specified by the first validation path, generating a result by performing a first validation check of the virtual training session by at least the validator of the smart agent to identify an event of the virtual machine, identifying, using the smart agent, completion of the first training objective based on the result, and advancing the virtual training session from the first training objective to the second training objective in response to identifying completion of the first training objective.

Abstract: A method and system for enhancing search skills of human guides in an information search system. The method allows human guides to be trained when they are not particularly busy fielding search queries from information seekers. The method can include determining whether a guide is idle and presenting to a human guide at least one video or audio source for training the human guide. The video training can include a demonstration of the most effective method for providing search results for an information search query, thereby enabling a guide to learn effective strategies and skills for conducting information searching. The training can contribute to the likelihood of the guide being promoted to a level of a more experienced human guide, thereby allowing greater effectiveness in fielding search queries for information seekers.

Figures within an electronic document can be enlarged by a user input such as a touch gesture. Selected information from the enlarged figure can be hidden and used as an interactive quiz. Abstract: A method of interpreting keypad input includes identifying a first letter of a target word from activation of an initial key, identifying a set of possible intermediate letters of the target word in response to non-activating traversal of associated keys of the keypad following activation of the initial key, identifying a last letter of the target word from activation of a final key following the non-activating traversal, and then determining the target word based upon the identified first, intermediate and last letters. The method is particularly useful in key input devices sensitive to non-activating finger position above the keys.
