  • Patent number: 9697061
Abstract: A service provider system may provide virtualized computing services to clients, including encapsulating services that call other (encapsulated) services. Once configured to delegate parameters to encapsulated services, an encapsulating service (and its API) may not need to be modified when an encapsulated service (or its API) is modified to support more, fewer, or different features or corresponding arguments. For example, an encapsulating service may receive a service request call from a client that includes arguments for an encapsulated service (e.g., as header information, or as an opaque block or uninterpreted key-value dictionary) and may call the encapsulated service, blindly passing along those arguments. An encapsulating service may access stored policy-based arguments or obtain arguments from a central service. Arguments passed to an encapsulated service may override default parameters of the service.

Abstract: A multi-layer user-selectable electronic testing (MUSET) system provides a cascaded set of alternative testing formats for test-takers to select a testing format that best accommodates their level of ability. Test-takers can answer fill-in-the-blank (FITB) items on a computer or other input device. If the test-taker is less confident of their understanding, they can select multiple-choice (MC) or true/false (T/F) testing formats. The MUSET system measures, tracks, and stores the amount of time it takes to answer test items, to switch testing formats, and to change answers. Test-takers indicate a confidence level that they have in the correctness of their answer. The MUSET system determines confidence characteristics, latency characteristics, and hesitancy characteristics of the test-taker and gathers additional parameters to build a performance profile of the test-taker's skills/traits/abilities.

Abstract: An information sharing system includes a computer network formed of terminals and a server and allows information about a posted message to be shared among users. The system or a terminal acquires a question message input via the terminal together with positional information associated with the question message and causes the acquired question message to be accessible to the users. The system or terminal acquires an answer message input by a respondent via the terminal as an answer to the question message and causes the acquired answer message to be accessible to the users. The system or terminal acquires positional information of the respondent and restricts the respondent from inputting the answer message to the question message on the basis of question positional information that is the positional information associated with the question message and respondent positional information that is the acquired positional information of the respondent.

Abstract: An application that is capable of monitoring Internet or network traffic and performing recordings of computer video output based on one or more violations of network activity policies. The recording application can be installed on the computer to be recorded or another computer or server that is connected through the network to the computer to be recorded. The monitoring application contains a configuration interface that allows a user to set thresholds for certain types of network policy violations. When the one or more violations are detected, the recording application will begin recording video of the computer's video activity. The application can be configured to include settings such as the length of the recording. In a typical environment, the application is a hardware appliance that is capable of monitoring web activity and network traffic and can connect to the computer over the network in order to perform the recording.

Abstract: A method of verifying that a storage system is complying with best practices guide includes a software program running in host servers for determining the host server configuration parameters, and comparing the host server configuration to the storage system configuration. If a newly added best practices rule is found to be different than either the current configuration of the storage system or the host server configuration, then an alert may be generated, and sent to a storage system user or manager. In addition, a suggested change notice may be generated and transmitted to the storage system user or manager. There may also be a suggested change notice sent to the host server. Best practices rules may be stored in a data base and updated frequently.

Abstract: According to one aspect, the subject matter described herein includes a method for dynamically selecting questions to be presented in a survey. The method includes providing for assignment of priorities to potential survey questions. The method further includes determining a selection probability for each question based on the assigned priorities. The method further includes storing questions in a database embodied in a non-transitory computer readable medium. The method further includes dynamically selecting, from the database and based on the selection probabilities, questions to be included in surveys to be presented to a plurality of individuals such that different individuals are presented with different sets of questions.

  • Patent number: 9305303
Abstract: A sentiment analysis computing system includes a storage medium and a processing system. Sentiment input is received from audience members viewing a streamed/webcasted event. The received input is stored to the storage medium. A time slice of the webcasted event is determined and sentiment inputs that are within that time slice are obtained. A sentiment value is calculated for the determined time slice based on aggregated sentiment values. The calculated sentiment value for the time slice is then output by the sentiment analysis computing system.

  • Patent number: 9299265
Abstract: An adaptive learning system and method (“ALS”) for optimized, automated learning is disclosed. The optimal sequencing method is adaptive in the sense that it continuously monitors a student's speed and accuracy of response in answering a series of questions, performing a series of classification tasks, or performing a series of procedures, and modifies the sequencing of the items presented as a function of these variables. One goal of the technique is to teach the subject matter in the shortest possible time. The optimal sequencing method may be used independently or in conjunction with disclosed perceptual learning and hinting methods.

Abstract: The present invention relates to method for measuring a storage frame having at least one tray defining an at least one approximately horizontal storing plane and being used for storing rod-like elements, the rod-like elements serving for storing products, each having a sausage-shaped body and a loop for a pendulously storage of the products on a rod-like element. The method comprising the steps of moving the storage frame into the operating range of a measuring apparatus, scanning the storage frame by the measuring apparatus for detecting and recording data regarding geometrical dimensions of the storage frame including at least the height of the tray. The method further comprises the steps of referring the height of the tray to a reference height, creating a dataset including at least said height, storing the dataset in a data memory device, and creating a link between the dataset and the respective storage frame.
