Abstract: This disclosure concerns methods, systems and apparatus that can be automatically activated by means of insertion into a jack socket and designed such that when inserted, no longitudinal force is exerted on the jack. In particular, self-muting connectors employ a spring-biased switch with an internal spring and a protrusion. When the connector is disconnected, the protrusion extends outwardly of a ground sleeve and the spring contacts an inner signal conductor. In this state, the switch shorts the signal conductor and ground sleeve together. When the connector is inserted into a complementary jack socket, the protrusion is urged inwardly and the spring deformed such that it ceases to contact the inner conductor, thereby the breaking the short-circuit between the signal conductor and ground sleeve. This allows a normal electrical connection to be established between the connector and the device to which the connector is inserted.

Abstract: An additional miniature switch or jumper switch to be integrated within the power connector of any device that is using transformer but that does not need to be connected to it all the time. The energy saving switch will disconnect the primary winding of the transformer from the voltage source when the device does not need to be powered. The energy saving switch could also be integrated within the turn-on/off circuit of any devices that is using transformer continuously plugged to a voltage source to power the device that may be turned-off either with an interrupter (mechanical or even electronically with remote control). The energy saving switch operates when a transformer is not in use but still wasting energy while connected to a voltage supply. The energy saving switch will simply disconnect the primary winding of the transformer when no device is connected or when the device is turned-off.

Abstract: Embodiments may include connectors with discharge elements integrated into the connectors to interconnect conductors of a cable to attenuate or discharge an electrostatic charge built up on the conductors. In some embodiments, the conductors are momentarily connected to ground as the connector couples with another connector to interconnect a cable with, e.g., a computer. In further embodiments, the discharge elements interconnect the conductors of a cable to redistribute an electrostatic charge and thereby minimize the impact of a discharge when the cable couples with an electronic system such as a computer. Another embodiment comprises a male connector with discharge elements, which ground conductors of the cable as the cable is being inserted into the connector. The discharge elements are pushed out of the way of the conductors as the conductors couple with the connector.

A pair of contact conducting strips is located on a bottom surface of the sliding insulating base, and conductive clips disposed internal of a pair of socket holes extend to the bottom portion of the outer housing and form folded strips. When a pair of plug terminals is correctly inserted, then the sliding insulating base is pressed down, thereby causing the lower contact conducting strips to make conductive contact with the folded strips, and causing clips on the conductive clips to make contact with the inserted plug terminals to supply power for use by an electronic product. When a plug is incorrectly inserted or metallic foreign body is inserted, then no electric conduction is realized.

Abstract: A modified standard SATA data connector is provided with a power supply circuit. The connector includes male and female data connectors. A male signal interface has seven male data connection pins, consisting of four data, a power supply, and two ground pins, the power supply pin replacing one of three original ground pins and connecting with a power line of a circuit board. A corresponding female signal interface has seven female data connection pins consisting of four data, a power receiving, and two ground pins. While the female and male data connectors are engaged, power can be supplied from the power line of the circuit board to an applied device connected with the female data connector via the power supplying and receiving pins. Thus, the SATA data connector can work without an external SATA power cable, and the volume of the cable can be reduced.

The present shunt is a conductive spring held in position by a shunt housing between the two conductive terminals so that both of its curved lateral ends contact the terminals when the bulb holder is removed. When the bulb holder is inserted, a pushrod on the flat central portion of the conductive spring presses the spring down into a well in the shunt housing so that the curved lateral ends of the conductive spring are drawn away from the electrical terminals, thereby allowing current to flow through the Dumet wires to the filament.
