Including Holding Means Patents (Class 446/262)
  • Patent number: 9457285
Abstract: A toy assembly is provided which may include a chassis defining a cavity therein, a flywheel mounted for rotation to the chassis within the cavity, a first transfer gear secured to a central portion of the flywheel and sized to mesh with a gear rack, and a clutch secured to the first transfer gear to frictionally engage the chassis and flywheel. The toy assembly may also include a housing secured to the chassis and defining a channel aligned with the first transfer gear to receive the gear rack and a spin shaft mounted to the chassis for translation between at least two positions to selectively raise at least a portion of the chassis up off of a surface therebelow. An input for rotation may have a charge wheel and be in communication with the flywheel.

  • Patent number: 9120025
Abstract: A rotatable core is described. The core includes a cylindrically-shaped housing having an indentation area. The indentation area is formed to guide a user where to place their finger for launching, such that by pressing down on the indentation area, the core is forced against a ground surface, which causes it to spin away from the user. Additionally, the core includes a housing with a cavity therein for receiving the object. A release mechanism is attached with the housing. The release mechanism includes a connector for connecting with a corresponding connector on the object and an expelling mechanism for expelling the object. Upon activation of the release mechanism, the connector releases the object and the expelling mechanism forces the object from the housing.

  • Publication number: 20030027485
Abstract: A tethered top is provided with a construction by which it can be accelerated, controlled and/or manipulated using a tether that remains attached to one end of the top, top body, or spindle. The tether can optionally be used as a pull string to be wrapped around top or spindle to impart acceleration to the top. The tether remains attached to at least one end of the top via at least one low friction housing connector but does not substantially retard the top's rotation, either when spinning on a surface or as supported in the air by the attached tether, low friction housing connector, and/or spindle.

  • Patent number: 6254450
Abstract: A doll having a fabric book as an integral part thereof. The doll has the shape of a real or fictitious human or animal character, and a fabric book with a fabric cover is secured to the doll and arranged so that the cover blends physically into the overall contour of the doll such that when the cover is closed the cover forms part of the doll exterior. The cover is at least partially releasably attached to the doll so that when the cover is released the pages of the fabric book can be turned and read without the book as a whole becoming detached from the doll. The book contains a plurality of fabric pages under the cover, with the fabric cover having an appearance that blends artistically into the appearance of the overall doll and the book pages containing a story or information whose subject is related to the doll itself.

  • Patent number: 5593338
Abstract: Toy top spinner which uses a toy top body as a spinning wheel to accelerate the spinning speed of the spinning wheel easily, and an adapter used with the spinner to spin toy tops having slightly different diameters. The spinner has its body equipped with a brake in addition to the spinning wheel. The rotor is formed with hook means. Between the spinning wheel and the rotor, there is interposed a gear train which is equipped with an idle gear. The brake includes a braking member and a braked member mounted on the axle of the rotor. The adapter device can be removably mounted on the rotor and has its body formed with a hook member inside of the hook means of the rotor.

  • Patent number: 4891031
Abstract: A driving device for initiating and maintaining a spinning top in a continuous movement of rotation and precession. The driving device is made of a shaft adapted to axially rotate in a tube on which is concentrically fixed a rim. A top is hingely connected by its central post to the end of the shaft adjacent the rim. The post is able to rotate around the rim through a ball-bearing joint and the friction between the post and the rim causes the top to spin around the rim. By momentarily braking or changing the direction of the shaft with a manual contact on the shaft, it is possible to create a precession movement to the spinning top which will raise above the rim.
