Fabric-covered Stuffed Figure Patents (Class 446/369)
  • Patent number: 5194033
Abstract: Disclosed is a stuffed animal toy that is structured for being projected through the air, the toy body having a flexible outer layer with a fur-like exterior, head, neck region, trunk and an elongate tail projecting rearwardly from the trunk, the tail being provided with a plurality of annular folds therealong which allows it to be extendable to a substantially greater length, and an elongate elastic element is mounted entirely within the body of the toy, and extends, in its relaxed condition, from the tip of the tail where one end of the element is secured, to the underside of neck region where the other end of the element is secured. A thumb-grasp is also secured at the underside of the neck region. After grasping the ring with one hand and the tail end with the other hand, the elastic element may be stretched, which action extends the length of the tail. The toy can then be launched through the air by releasing the tail.

  • Patent number: 5090938
Abstract: An object capable of having its shape altered has a first cloth-like material formed in a first predetermined shape, an aperture formed in the first material so that an internal hollow of the first shape can be accessed and a second pliable material positioned within the internal hollow and formed to assume a second predetermined shape. The second material is connected to the first material at the internal hollow so that the second material can be withdrawn from the internal hollow through the aperture. In this formation, the aperture is common to both the first and second materials. By extracting the second material from the aperture, the first material can be inserted or pushed through the aperture into the internal hollow, where eventually, the first material and shape are completely contained within the internal hollow and surrounded by the second material. Therefore, the first material and its shape become undetectable as the second material and shape are exposed.

Abstract: A method of creating images, such as the face of a child, on flexible foam plastic, such as a doll's head. The method can also be used to create realistic images of other objects such as pet animals, with the head on a separate piece of foam attachable to the body in different tilted positions by means of Velcro. Existing technology is used to make the type of thermal transfer which obtains its color from deposits of colored wax. This is then brought into register with bumps and hollows on the flexible foam blank, and the blank flattened by mechanical pressure during the transferring step. After completion, the resilience of the flexible foam blank recreates a three dimensional surface; hence, the final product is more representative of the object than was the transfer from which it was made.

  • Patent number: 4795397
Abstract: The doll is considered a "Twin" for a child. It is a method for making a twin doll for a newborn child in which the newborn child has vital statistics including the name, date of birth, weight, length, handprints and footprints. The doll is constructed to have the exact length of the newborn child and to have the exact weight of the newborn child. The imprints of the newborn child are placed on the palm of the hands and the sole of the feet of the doll. The weight, length and imprints remain fixed and the doll is indeed a "replica" of the newborn child. Vital statistics including date of birth and name are also inscribed on the doll.

  • Patent number: 4781648
Abstract: A reversible toy having a pair of substantially equal size fabric skins peripherally secured and configured to selectively expose each skin while enclosing the other skin. Each skin has multiple appendages associated therewith and aligned with the appendages associated with the other skin. The two appendages of each aligned set of appendages are invertible one within the other for an outward projection of an appendage associated with an exposed skin and a corresponding inverting and storing of the aligned appendage within the projecting appendage. The stored appendages defines bulk stuffing for the exposed appendage. The inversion of each appendage is effected automatically upon an extension of the associated appendage.

  • Patent number: 4763369
Abstract: A dual-function pillow which in its normal mode serves as a comfortable bed rest or any other conventional purpose, and in its transformed mode functions as a plaything. The pillow is constituted by a soft and compressible inner bag and a removable outer case which covers the bag, the outer case having printed on its face a two-dimensional character in humanoid or animal-like form. Means such as drawstrings or elastic bands are provided to encircle the outer case and constrict the pillow along transverse lines displaced from opposite ends of the case. The placement of these lines is such relative to the character on the face of the pillow as to transform the two-dimensional character into a three-dimensional figure whose form is generally that of the character.

  • Patent number: 4755160
Abstract: A stuffed toy having spiral-shaped, form-retaining appendages. The appendages have spiral-shaped outer covers made out of a compliant material which are secured together at longitudinal seams extending along the length of the appendages. Fill material is stuffed inside the appendages formed by the covers. As a result, tapered spiral-shaped appendages are fabricated which return to their original shape after being manually deformed without the necessity of using elastic bands, metal devices, or resiliant material.

  • Patent number: 4739529
Abstract: A sleeping bag having an image of a doll attached to the upper surface thereof which image includes separate arm and leg appendages which are secured to the upper surfaces of the sleeping bag and at least one selectively opening panel member which defines the body portion of the doll and which is secured to the upper surface of the sleeping bag in such a manner that when in a first position it defines a pocket in which various articles may be stored and when in a second position the sleeping bag may be folded and received and enclosed therein to thereby form a doll having three-dimensional characteristics. In an alternate embodiment the head of the doll is attached to an edge of the sleeping bag so as to form a pillow when the sleeping bag is in use.
