  • Patent number: 4714445
Abstract: A soft, lightweight toy for a child having an animal-like appearance and feeling warm to the touch of a child. The toy comprises a thin, flexible fabric cover defining a recess. A bladder containing a fluid is removably received in the recess and adapted to lie in contact with inner surfaces of the cover so as to provide a thin layer of the fluid adjacent inner surfaces of the cover. The bladder may be removed and warmed by various means to a desired temperature. Upon insertion into the recess, heat from the bladder is transferred through the cover making the toy warm to the touch. Apart from the thin layer of fluid encapsulated in the bladder under the inner surfaces of the cover, the toy comprises low density materials.

  • Patent number: 4695264
Abstract: A toy is disclosed including two interconnected, eversible figures. The two figures are joined to one another and include separate internal cavities, each having a capacity to hold or contain the other figure. The figures are joined to one another along a common opening and at a point preferably opposite the common openings. As one figure is folded outwardly through the opening, the other figure is progressively eversed and drawn through the opening and into the internal chamber of the figure currently being folded outward. The figure thus being folded outward is progressively stuffed by the figure being everted and folded inwardly into the cavity of the outward folding figure.

  • Patent number: 4644591
Abstract: A soft sculpture face mask is extremely lightweight, breatheable and capable of being easily and inexpensively manufactured. The construction of the mask allows for an unlimited variety of face mask designs utilizing basically the same materials. The mask is three-dimensional and, therefore, more realistic than rubber molded masks which, in any event, are hot and uncomfortable to wear.

  • Patent number: 4614505
Abstract: A toy figure which is progressively transformable into different configurations. The figure has a body portion comprising a mass of compliant fill material with a fabric cover thereover. The body portion has fanciful material (e.g. facial components and appendages) integral therewith. A fabric segment is secured to the body portion and forms a pocket on the body portion. The pocket is resiliently deformable to allow parts of the body portion and its fanciful material to be forced through the pocket as the toy is changed from one configuration to another. The pocket has a memory and, when a desired transformation is achieved, the pocket is contractable to hold the figure in a new configuration. The top figure preferably depicts a fanciful three dimensional character in one of its basic configurations and is transformed into a ball-like form in another of its basic configurations. When the figure is in its ball-like form, some of the fanciful material is visible to give the ball-like form a fanciful appearance.

  • Patent number: 4575351
Abstract: An improved training doll for prospective mothers, sisters, child attendants and the like is provided which includes a life-like torso having the approximate weight, size and appearance of a baby, preferably a newborn infant. The torso has arms and legs articulated to it and including fold lines. The arms and legs are also of the proper approximate size, weight and appearance, to simulate a baby and include means in the form of surface patches for restricting movements thereof to life-like movement directions. Thus, the knees may have patch knee caps and the arms may have elbow patches. The head is also of the approximate size, weight and appearance of a baby and is connected to the torso by a weak preferably tube-like neck which permits the head to freely flop forwardly and rearwardly. This can be accomplished by pinching the neck transversely, as by a sew line, at about the junction with the torso.

  • Patent number: 4531925
Abstract: A manufacturing system for soft goods having intricate curved configurations such as three dimensional toys that compacts and consolidates in a one-piece blank all the pattern parts for the manufacture of the toy where all the pattern parts use the same fabric material. The system includes a generally rectangular fabric blank having halve portions which are substantially mirror images of each other with respect to a median line, the blank providing maximum economy in the cutting and utilization of fabric material. The blank generally includes integrally formed body and leg-forming portions and may also include integrally formed head, ear and tail forming portions. The forming portions are appropriately shaped so that upon forming the blank into the toy, edges of corresponding forming portions mate with each other to enable the toy to be manufactured with a minimum number of seams and pieces. One-piece head forming blanks are also disclosed for use with blanks which, when formed, provide a body for a soft toy.

  • Patent number: 4505687
Abstract: A figurine having a form retaining shape. The figurine comprises a body portion and a head portion connected with the body portion. The body portion comprises (i) a tubular outer covering, (ii) a fill material substantially filling the tubular outer covering, and (iii) a piece of elastic extending along at least a part of the tubular outer covering. The piece of elastic is in a partially tensioned state resulting from being fixedly secured under a state of high tension to at least two points spaced apart along the length of the tubular covering and then being allowed to relax to a partially tensioned state and being held in the partially tensioned state by the tubular outer covering. The piece of elastic allows the body portion to be manually deformed against that bias. The piece of elastic returns the body portion to the predetermined shape when the deforming forces are removed.
