Sounding Patents (Class 446/397)
  • Patent number: 5314371
Abstract: A toy for mounting on the dashboard of a vehicle in front of the driver. The toy includes a box-like housing that houses a plurality of tone generators. Each tone generator, when activated, produces the sounds of a military assault weapon, and a selector switch is provided for each tone generator so that the driver of the vehicle may select the desired sound. A firing button is provided so that after the desired tone generator has been activated, pressing the firing button causes the selected sound to be generated. The sounds may be broadcast over a built-in speaker, or over the vehicle's speaker system. LED lights in the top wall of the housing are reflected onto the windshield of the vehicle, and form a simulated target sight. Thus, a driver desiring to vent frustrations may simulate shooting at a fanciful enemy driver by activating the device, activating a selected tone generator, aligning the other vehicle in the target sight, and pressing a firing button to cause generation of the selected sound.

Abstract: A cube shaped toy has a button and a rotary switch on each of the cube's six sides. For each of the cube's six faces, there is an associated set of four tones. Pushing the button on a selected face causes the toy to play the tones associated with that face. In particular, if each face is divided into four quadrants, there is one "quadrant-tone" associated with each quadrant. The toy has just six distinct tones, and when the toy is first turned on, or restarted, all four tones for each face are identical. Whenever one of the rotary switches is turned, the quadrant-tones of the associated face are rotated, and the quadrant-tones for the neighboring faces are also "rotated", generating a new set of tone patterns for each of the five affected faces. By listening to the tones for each face and rotating the rotary switches, the user can move the quadrant-tones until all four tones for each face are identical.

  • Patent number: 4976648
Abstract: The call includes an elongate tubular body having a rim structure defining an elliptical air inlet end. An elastic sheet constitutes a reed and overlies a portion of the inlet end of the body. A backing plate is also located at the inlet end with a plate tongue offset below the elastic sheet. The rim structure is shaped so as to support a span of the elastic sheet in spaced relationship to the backing plate which is received on a recessed portion of the rim structure and held in place by the elastic sheet. An O-ring secures the sheet in place. An adapter adjacent the outlet end of the tubular body permits attachment of a sound absorbent tube for sound modulation. A baffle within the adapter provides an airflow restriction. The backing plate is removably mounted on the tubular body of the call and allows backing plate of different configurations to be used to alter the pitch of the call.

  • Patent number: 4968283
Abstract: A game call imitates the scratching sound made by turkeys and other animals in order to attract the animals. The game call includes a tube having a rough inner surface, with a quantity of granular material flowable over the rough surface. A scratching sound is generated, and the sound is controlled by varying the frequency of tipping of the device to vary the flow of the granular material. The outside of the device is camouflaged by painting, or by inserting within the knit sock. The knit sock is water repellent, and can provide extra length to carry the device.

  • Patent number: 4955845
Abstract: A game calling device is provided which enables the distraction-free simulation of the sounds made by wild game using only one hand to operate. The device includes a support structure having a trough portion and a friction plate positioned within the trough; a call generator comprising the friction plate, a handle block and a striker positioned within the handle block for longitudinal displacement from a beginning position along the friction plate so as to generate a game call; and a spring linking the support structure with the handle block and the striker portion of the call generator to return the striker to a beginning position, thereby completing a cycle of alternating lognitudinal movement. A flexible pouch is provided to enclose the device.

  • Patent number: 4950198
Abstract: A game call includes a substantially cylindrical body, vibratable diaphragm, split ring for fastening the diaphragm to the body, and tubular bell attachable to the body for amplifying and enhancing the sound produced by the diaphragm. The body includes an inlet end surface having a substantially conical recessed portion, an outlet end surface having two planar surface portions angled with respect to one another, and an air passage extending between the inlet and outlet end surfaces. The air passage has a flared outlet opening at the outlet end surface. The diaphragm is fastened in slightly stretched fashion to the outlet end surface such that it at least substantially covers the flared outlet opening. The diaphragm has a seam in proximate relationship to a periphery portion of the flared outlet portion, along which air from the air passage is permitted to escape.

  • Patent number: 4950201
Abstract: This invention is a game call for attracting birds and animals. It involves a tube, open at both ends, and a vibratory reed disposed therein. The call is adapted to be held in the hand of the user by the larger of two major parts, the barrel. The second major part, a voice-unit, secures a vibratory reed. Either the barrel or voice-unit may serve as the mouthpiece. The barrel, provided with external ribs, is constructed of a multicolored soft resilient material, preferably rubber but alternatively may be of other resilient natural or synthetic material.

  • Patent number: 4941858
Abstract: This box type turkey call is a combination of two calls which share a resonance chamber. The first sounder is elastically engaged to work the arm actuator over the edges of the chamber walls and is pivotally mounted. The second sounder is a stylus with sound tube which is used to scrape the slate on the bottom of the resonance chamber. When not in use the stylus is intended to be mounted through the resonance chamber by placement through a hole in the end wall of the chamber. The two calls may be used together. The presence of one sounder in or on the resonance chamber assists in making appropriate calls.

  • Patent number: 4936185
Abstract: An electronic musical instrument comprises a plural number of component blocks capable of being coupled mechanically and electrically in succession and each having therein musical tone elements control means and at least one of the blocks having also musical tone signal generating means. Time range or tonal range of generated musical tones are changed according to how many blocks are connected consecutively in a predetermined or a selected order. The blocks can generate a series of musical tones in a sequence corresponding to a connecting sequence when a switch arranged on the leading block is operated, and a desired musical piece can be performed by operating performance operating means of each block. The electric musical instrument also can be used as an educational toy allowing infants to learn music while amusing and is convenient for transportation since it can be easily dismembered into each block.
