  • Patent number: 9352438
Abstract: Exemplary embodiments of the subject invention comprise methods and apparatus concerning balanced abrading of a tire surface by an abrading tool. Such an abrading tool may comprise a pair of counter-rotating, driven abrading members, each of the abrading members having a rotational axis generally extending laterally across the tool, the abrading members being spaced apart in a lateral direction of the tool by a desired distance, each of the abrading members having an abrading surface defined by at least one outer diameter, the abrading surface extending axially relative to the rotational axis of the abrading member, wherein each of the abrading has a shaft upon which each abrading member is arranged, each of the shafts being adapted to be driven by a driving source. The tool further includes a body to which each shaft and abrading member is attached.

  • Patent number: 7803034
Abstract: A system for moving and positioning an object such as a tool. The system has a first assembly that has a first rotatable portion that is rotatable about a first axis, and a second assembly that has a second rotatable portion that is rotatable about a second axis that is not coincident with the first axis. The system may include a third assembly that has a third rotatable portion that is rotatable about a third axis that is not coincident with the second axis. The assemblies are coupled such that rotation of the first rotatable portion causes eccentric rotation of the second and third rotatable portions about the first axis. The system also includes a controller for causing one, two or all three of the rotatable portions to rotate, so as to establish a desired position of an object that is coupled to the system.

  • Patent number: 5980365
Abstract: A tool grinding machine has a moveable tool receiving member and a support rotatable about a vertical axis. The support includes a solid disk having a great mass allowing a vibration-free grinding at great output. Grinding spindles are arranged vertically on the disk for grinding a tool received in the tool receiving member. The grinding spindles have a vertical extension above the disk. The disk has a vertical thickness matching at least the vertical length of the grinding spindles.
