Abstract: A method, according to one embodiment, includes forming a lubricant film on a magnetic disk having at least a magnetic recording film above a substrate, and a protective film above the magnetic recording film, and wiping the lubricant film while rotating the substrate, e.g., at about 3.0 m/s to about 3.5 m/s by pressing a pad against a wiping cloth e.g., at a loading speed of about 12 mm/min to about 36 mm/min e.g., under a pressure of about 3 gf/mm2 to about 9 gf/mm2. The pad has a convexly curved surface in contact with the wiping cloth, and the wiping cloth is disposed so as to oppose the lubricant film. The method also includes pressing a cleaning tape which includes abrasive grains against the substrate on which the protective film and lubricant film are formed while rotating the substrate to remove protrusions. Apparatuses and forming the layers are also described.
Abstract: A sander has a base, a rotating assembly, multiple abrasive assemblies, multiple driving assemblies and multiple reciprocating assemblies. The rotating assembly is rotatably mounted on the base on an axis that is parallel to a Z-axis and has a bottom end. The abrasive assemblies move linearly and reciprocatorily in a plane parallel to an X-Y plane and are rotatably mounted on the bottom end of the rotating assembly. The driving assemblies are respectively connected to and drive the abrasive assemblies to rotate. The reciprocating assemblies are mounted securely on the rotating assembly to linearly and reciprocatorily drive the abrasive assemblies in a plane parallel to the X-Y plane. A linear reciprocating direction of each abrasive assembly is opposite to that of an adjacent abrasive assembly.
Abstract: In an apparatus at a carding machine for grinding a clothing drawn onto a rotating roller, having a carrying device with at least one grinding element and an advancing device serving to set the grinding element against the clothing, wherein the apparatus comprises a biasing device serving for automatically continuing to push forward the grinding element in a contact-making direction during the grinding procedure, the carrying device is attached to the carding machine. In order to make it possible, by simple means, to shorten the time until service-readiness carrying elements adjusted in respect of the spacing b relative to the roller are utilized for adjustment of the biasing device.

Abstract: Machine for machining using abrasive belts circular workpieces supported by at least one pair of parallel rollers.
To pass the workpieces under the machining station(s) 6, the support rollers 16 driven in rotation are moved in translation parallel to their axes.
The rollers 16 are preferably mounted on a table 13 mobile in translation which can also carry means 19 for positioning the workpieces to be machined.

Abstract: In a process and an apparatus for centerless superfinishing of rollers with arbitrarily curved jacket faces by means of an oscillatingly driven honing stone, the rollers are transported in the continuous process and the honing stone moves together with the rollers at the same speed or at superimposed speeds. The rollers rotate relative to their associated honing stone as a result of being transported causing machining to occur.

Abstract: A pivoting polishing block assembly comprises a torsion arm having a molded polishing block joined thereto in pivoting relation about the central axis of the torsion arm. The molded polishing block comprises a polishing block holder having a plurality of openings formed therein, and an abrasive pad formed thereover composed of an abrasive, moldable material. An apparatus for cleaning and polishing rolls, which includes the pivoting polishing block assembly, is also provided.
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for fine-working or microfinishing of workpiece surfaces, particularly rotationally-symmetrically moved workpieces with oscillating or rotating tools such as honing stones or fine polishing stones, which are in-fed against the workpiece. Dependent on a measured parameter proportional to the machining force, the tool infeed is controlled such that a continuous workpiece material remove with constant removal speed is achieved. The reaction force is measured at any point in the flux of force to determine the machining force.
