Blade Sharpener Patents (Class 451/196)
  • Patent number: 8944894
Abstract: An adjustable manual abrasive sharpener having a pair of sharpening slots formed in a frame with opposing abrasive arms being pivotally mounted in each of the sharpening slots. A rod is mounted on the frame for rotatable motion and for linear motion long its axis of rotation from a position at which the rod is locked against rotation to a depressed position whereby the rod may be rotated. The bottom end portion of the rod includes a pinion gear which engages a pair of gear racks which are mounted for movement laterally relative to the axis of rotation of the rod. The pair of gear racks respectively engage slots formed on the bottom of the abrasive arms in each sharpening slot. Rotation of the rod causes movement of the gear racks to adjust each pair of abrasive arms with respect to each other to vary the sharpening angle of the abrasive elements.

  • Publication number: 20100163010
Abstract: The present invention is a slicing method and a wire saw apparatus including winding a wire around a plurality of grooved rollers and pressing the wire against an ingot to be sliced into wafers while supplying a slurry for slicing to the grooved rollers and causing the wire to travel in a reciprocating direction, in which the ingot is sliced with controlling a temperature of the ingot by supplying a slurry for adjusting an ingot temperature to the ingot independently from the slurry for slicing while the slurry for adjusting an ingot temperature is supplied to the ingot only at the exit side of the wire caused to travel in the reciprocating direction. As a result, there is provided a method and a wire saw apparatus in which rapid cooling of an ingot especially in a time close to end of slicing of the ingot can be alleviated, consequently degradation of a nano-topography can be suppressed, and further high-quality wafers having a uniform thickness can be sliced when slicing the ingot by using a wire saw.

Abstract: A sharpening apparatus (16) for a blade-like cutting implement. The sharpening apparatus has an elongate body (18) and a cutting edge extending widthwise across one end of the body (11) at a predetermined angle relative to the longitudinal axis of the body (11). The cutting edge is formed by an inclined face formed on one side face of the body. The apparatus includes a cradle (26) for holding a blade-like implement to be sharpened and a mounting body for mounting the cradle (26) relative to a grinding surface. The cradle is mounted on a pair of guide rails (22, 24) for movement along a rectilinear path, the cradle including first and second rail followers slidably connected to a first and second of the guide rails respectively. The cradle (26) includes a seat for locating the blade-like implement at a reselected reference position on the cradle (26) such that the cutting edge of the implement to be sharpened is located parallel to said rectilinear path.

  • Patent number: 6019023
Abstract: The invention relates to a cutting machine for cutting a flexible material by a cutting wheel rotated by a motor. The cutting wheel and the motor are carried by a cutting head mounted to move horizontally along two orthogonal axes and to rotate about a vertical tangential servo-control axis. The invention further includes a support table covered with a mat into which the cutting wheel penetrates. The cutting wheel is adjustable to change the depth to which the cutting wheel penetrates into the mat. The cutting wheel is also adjustable to change the horizontal distance between the vertical tangential servo-control axis and the axis rotation of the cutting wheel so that the cutting wheel penetrates into the mat a front contact point situated in the vicinity of the tangential servo-control axis.

  • Patent number: 5453042
Abstract: A device for removing skin from a fish, includes a flat table-like support for the fish body, and a spike-like anchoring means adapted to penetrate the head of the fish during the skin-removal operation. A skin clamp mechanism is powered by a motor-driven chain conveyor to move along the fish body for pulling the skin from the fish body. As the skin clamp mechanism reaches the end of its stroke an arm structure is elevated from the fish support to press down on the partially severed fish skin. The skin-clamp mechanism reverses direction so that the fish skin is looped around a roller on the arm structure as the skin-clamp mechanism returns to its starting position. The arm structure prolongs the skin-removal process into a two-direction operation, so that a relatively long length of fish can be accommodated in a given length device.

  • Patent number: 5397262
Abstract: An improved knife grinder is desinged to have a motor transmission axle which transmits one or two units of wheel axle with its angles which are facing one another and entend slightly upward and outward. A base is fixed onto the vertical bottom surface which extends from the wheel shaft in coordination with the bearing positioning wheel axle, onto the upper end of which an axle bush can be housed. One or two units of glaze wheel is fitted onto the outer edge of the axle bush. While a stripe column is housed onto the position which is corresponding to the axle bush at its interior. Extending outward from the glaze wheel, three layers made of such materials as plastic, foam and grinding cloth are formed. A stair face is set on the upper end of the plastic layer, into which a positioning cover can be housed, and its mutli-angled protrusive column will be housed into the axle bush positioning hole; while the multi-angled groove at the other end will allow the wheel axle to be tightly screwed by a scew nut.
