In the processing station (1; 61), the individual containers (50) are rotated about a longitudinal axis thereof while outer surfaces of the cylindrical main bodies (52) are in contact with a scrubbing member (27; 30, 35), for reducing an adhesive surface behavior of the outer surfaces of the cylindrical main bodies (52) of the individual containers. In this manner the surface properties of glass containers may be enhanced significantly with a cost-efficient and simple processing to thereby prevent undesired ‘stickiness behavior’ of the glass containers.

In the covering positions, the slot covers cover end portions of the slot adjacent the ends of the skate blade to prevent insertion of objects through the end portions of the slot during sharpening.

The feed table includes an infeed table segment upstream of the slot and an outfeed table segment downstream of the slot for supporting the workpiece during passage over the slot in contact with the drum, and a pivot mounting the feed table adjacent a downstream end of the outfeed table segment for pivotal movement of the feed table to a desired height with reference to the drum. A height adjustment lock cooperates with the infeed table segment for locking the feed table into a locked position at the desired height with reference to the drum.

    Abstract: A hand-held centerless grinding apparatus for grinding and refinishing convex, concave and flat surfaces. When a surface has been grooved or otherwise indented, the damaged surface can be built up, then must be ground back to the original configuration. A box-like body structure having and open side has inwardly extending V-shaped openings in opposite end walls. A grinder having a drive motor and grinding wheel is mounted on a bracket for grinding wheel movement along a line bisecting the V-shaped opening. The box structure is arranged with the open side against the surface to be repaired. In the case of a shaft, the sides of the V-shaped opening engage the shaft. The bracket is adjusted to bring the grinding wheel to a position conforming to the intended surface configuration. The motor is turned on and the body is manually moved along the surface so that the grinding wheel grinds away any repair material extending above the desired surface.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for initially taking an individual bar from a supply of bars and placing it on an entry conveyor while preventing movement of the remaining bars. Other mechanisms are provided for adjusting the entry conveyor to accommodate the diameter of the bars to be ground. The regulating wheel maintains the bar against the grinding wheel and the movement of the regulating wheel toward the grinding wheel during the grinding action is sensed by an encoder device. The encoder device in turn signals to a servomotor to move the grinding wheel an amount equal to but in the opposite direction to the regulating wheel to compensate for the wearing of the grinding wheel. The regulating wheel is set at a slight angle relative to the bar to impose a vector force that moves the bar through the grinding station to the exit conveyor from where the bar is subsequently moved to a holding area.

The roller slides along a track formed in the table or platform which has the identical configuration as the knife blade.
