Including Plural Conoid Members Patents (Class 451/476)
  • Patent number: 10086491
Abstract: A honing tool for working several separate bores that are arranged coaxially in series and have different diameters. The honing tool includes several cutting bar groups arranged coaxially in series, wherein a diameter of a cutting bar group of the several cutting bar groups, which diameter is formed by radially extendable cutting bars, differs from a corresponding diameter of at least one other cutting bar group of the several cutting bar groups. A centering bar group is arranged in an axial direction to a free end of the honing tool adjacent at least one cutting bar group; or a guide bar group is arranged directly adjacent opposite the free end of the honing tool adjacent the at least one cutting bar group, or both the centering bar group and the guide bar group are arranged accordingly.

  • Patent number: 8690644
Abstract: An arm 21 has a shape for grasping a part in a circumferential direction of a tool holder 7. The arm 21 is connected to the tool holder 7 with a bolt 23 inserted into a fixing hole 22 provided in a base side portion of the arm 21. A tapped hole 25 used for exchangeably attaching a cutting tool 24 is formed in a tip side portion of the arm 21. A groove part 26 extending in parallel to an axis of the tool holder 7 is formed in a position close to the base portion of the arm 21. Owing to the groove part 26, the arm 21 works as an elastic hinge when an external force is applied, so as to increase or decrease a radial dimension of the cutting tool 24 while keeping its parallelism to the axis of the tool.

  • Patent number: 7070491
Abstract: The application describes a honing tool for use with a CNC machine. A fluid actuator provides the mechanism for causing radial adjustment of abrasive elements. The actuator consists of a piston and cylinder assembly mounted within the tool and powered by cooling fluid of the CNC machine. Actuation motion is driven by a helical drive on the piston which imparts rotary motion to a feed rod. Upper and lower feed rod sections are connected through a clutch. Axial movement is imparted to a feed cone by threaded engagement between the feed cone and the lower feed rod section.

  • Patent number: 6106383
Abstract: An air gage is integrally constructed within a honing tool having a body formed as a removable outer shell on which is mounted the abrasive elements of the tool. The shell is mounted on a mandrel which contains means to adjust the radial position of the abrasive elements which engage the adjustment means through slots in the shell. The air gage allows monitoring of tool performance during a honing operation.

  • Patent number: 5527214
Abstract: The tool includes a body which supports angularly spaced roughing hones and angularly spaced finishing hones for radially inward and outward movement between collapsed and expanded positions. Expansion of the roughing hones is effected by axially spaced ramps when a rod is moved linearly in one direction while expansion of the finishing hones is effected by additional axially spaced ramps when the rod is shifted linearly in the other direction. By turning an adjusting nut from the free end of the tool body, the axial spacing between the ramps of the roughing hones may be changed for purposes of adjusting the inclination of the roughing hones. A second adjusting nut coaxial with the first nut may also be turned from the free end of the tool body to change the axial spacing between the ramps of the finishing hones and thereby effect adjustment of the inclination of the finishing hones.
