Abstract: A tool (1) for mechanochemical treatment comprises a shaft (10), a number n of working ledges (20), n?1, and a force application arrangement (2). The force application arrangement (2) is configured for applying a working force (F) on the working ledges (20). The working ledges (20) comprises wear-resistant material with a Vickers number above 800 HV and a Young modulus above 200 GPa. Each working ledge (20) has a contact surface (22) facing away from a main axis (11) and having a surface roughness Ra below I ?m. The contact surface (22) has a convex curvature which has a radius of curvature that is at most equal to a closest distance from that point to the main axis. A width of the contact surface (22) is less than r/2n. The working force applied on each working ledge (20) is at least P?L?r/2n, where P=107 Pa and L is the contact surface length.

Abstract: A bearing assembly cooperates with a bearing seat formed in a bearing housing and includes a bearing having an inner ring, an outer ring and a rolling element in engagement with the rings and an anti-rotation device. The anti-rotation device engages the outer ring to the bearing housing limiting rotation of the outer ring within the bearing seat. The anti-rotation device includes a first feature engaging the outer ring and a second feature engaging the bearing housing. The features limit the rotation of the outer ring within the bearing seat. The first feature has a resilient protrusion with a contact surface for engagement with the outer ring.
Abstract: A honing tool comprises a tubular tool body fastened with an end section in a tool shank and a cutting region on an opposite end section with at least one honing-stick accommodating opening. The dimensions of the honing-stick accommodating opening and of the honing stick are matched to one another so that the honing stick is accommodated in a radially movable manner, and essentially free of play in a circumferential direction of the tool body, between boundary surfaces of the honing-stick accommodating opening. A play-compensating device between the honing stick and the honing-stick accommodating opening comprises at least one elastically deformable supporting element which is supported with a pressure force, in a fitted state of the honing stick, on one hand on a side surface of the honing stick and on the other hand on a boundary surface, opposite the side surface, of the honing-stick accommodating opening.
Abstract: A tool for use in abrading, honing, lapping or otherwise finishing or working the interior surface of a bore, aperture, cylinder or like work piece includes an abrading element dependently supported about a mandrel assembly. The abrading element has a longitudinal slit in order that the abrading element is radially expansible upon the outward application of force from within a longitudinal bore provided therethrough. The mandrel assembly includes a threaded rod upon which is formed a radially expansible arbor, which is formed by application over and about the threaded rod of one or more radially expansible, preferably cylindrical, bushings, which bushings are separated and bounded by a plurality of radially fixed, preferably spherical bushings. The mandrel assembly may also be used as an inside diameter mandrel for supporting a work piece undergoing a machining process.
Abstract: The application describes a honing tool for use with a CNC machine. A fluid actuator provides the mechanism for causing radial adjustment of abrasive elements. The actuator consists of a piston and cylinder assembly mounted within the tool and powered by cooling fluid of the CNC machine. Actuation motion is driven by a helical drive on the piston which imparts rotary motion to a feed rod. Upper and lower feed rod sections are connected through a clutch. Axial movement is imparted to a feed cone by threaded engagement between the feed cone and the lower feed rod section.
Abstract: The compositions and dosage forms of the invention are clinically useful as methods for increasing the effectiveness, efficiency and safety of biguanides (metformin) and/or sulfonylureas in the prevention and treatment of insulin resistance and diabetes mellitus, alone or in combination, as a nutrient for humans. The carefully chosen active ingredients of the invention are designed in a modular fashion to prevent and rectify adverse events associated with insulin resistance syndrome and diabetes mellitus, and with the clinical use of biguanides (metformin) and/or the sulfonylureas. These modules are: (1) Mitochondrial Metabolic Group, (2) Plasma and Mitochondrial Membrane Integrity Group, (3) Nocturnal Group and, (4) Insulin Alternative Group. When used in concert with a biguanide, a sulfonylurea or with a combination of both, the invention will broaden the clinical usefulness of these drugs.
Abstract: A supporting device for a plurality of adapter chucks for the precision grinding or polishing of optical components comprises a spindle shaft having a central bore for supplying one of a gas and a vacuum, at least one arm adjustably supported by a head of the spindle shaft and having a seating for an adapter chuck, and a flexible vacuum/gas line provided between the seating and the spindle shaft. The arm is adjustable as to its angle of inclination relative to an axis of the spindle shaft.
Abstract: An air gage is integrally constructed within a honing tool having a body formed as a removable outer shell on which is mounted the abrasive elements of the tool. The shell is mounted on a mandrel which contains means to adjust the radial position of the abrasive elements which engage the adjustment means through slots in the shell. The air gage allows monitoring of tool performance during a honing operation.
Abstract: A tool body having a removable outer shell on which is mounted the abrasive elements of the tool. The shell is mounted on a mandrel which contains means to adjust the radial position of the abrasive elements which engage the adjustment means through slots in the shell.
Abstract: The tool includes a body which supports angularly spaced roughing hones and angularly spaced finishing hones for radially inward and outward movement between collapsed and expanded positions. Expansion of the roughing hones is effected by axially spaced ramps when a rod is moved linearly in one direction while expansion of the finishing hones is effected by additional axially spaced ramps when the rod is shifted linearly in the other direction. By turning an adjusting nut from the free end of the tool body, the axial spacing between the ramps of the roughing hones may be changed for purposes of adjusting the inclination of the roughing hones. A second adjusting nut coaxial with the first nut may also be turned from the free end of the tool body to change the axial spacing between the ramps of the finishing hones and thereby effect adjustment of the inclination of the finishing hones.
