Including Thread Actuated Tool Mover Patents (Class 451/482)
  • Patent number: 10930513
Abstract: In a method of manufacturing silicon elements a part having a cross section with four straight sides and four arcuate portions each connecting two of the straight skies with one another and a rotatable abrasive tool which has a circular abrasive working layer composed of abrasive particles are provided, the tool is rotated around a central axis of the part having a cross section with the four straight sides and the four arcuate portions each connecting two of the straight sides with one another, in contact with the four arcuate portions with simultaneous displacement of the tool along an axis of the part to remove outer layers of the outer portions and to finely machine underlying arcuate surfaces of the part, and the part is cut transversely to produce silicone elements.

  • Patent number: 8647175
Abstract: A radially inwardly open raceway formed in a nut centered on a nut axis is machined by of oscillating the nut about the nut axis while pressing a tool secured in a holder radially outwardly into the raceway of the nut. The holder is moved parallel to the nut axis and oscillated about a tool axis perpendicular to the nut axis synchronously with the oscillation of the nut about the nut axis. Springs brace the tool against the holder parallel to the nut axis such that the tool can move limitedly in the holder against spring bias parallel to the tool axis.

  • Patent number: 6689385
Abstract: The compositions and dosage forms of the invention are clinically useful as methods for increasing the effectiveness, efficiency and safety of biguanides (metformin) and/or sulfonylureas in the prevention and treatment of insulin resistance and diabetes mellitus, alone or in combination, as a nutrient for humans. The carefully chosen active ingredients of the invention are designed in a modular fashion to prevent and rectify adverse events associated with insulin resistance syndrome and diabetes mellitus, and with the clinical use of biguanides (metformin) and/or the sulfonylureas. These modules are: (1) Mitochondrial Metabolic Group, (2) Plasma and Mitochondrial Membrane Integrity Group, (3) Nocturnal Group and, (4) Insulin Alternative Group. When used in concert with a biguanide, a sulfonylurea or with a combination of both, the invention will broaden the clinical usefulness of these drugs.

  • Publication number: 20030207657
Abstract: A tool for finishing an outside diameter surface of a cylindrical workpiece. The tool includes a rotatable substantially cylindrical member having an inner work-engaging surface adapted for finishing the O.D. surface of the cylindrical workpiece. The inner work-engaging surface includes abrasive particles thereon and defines a bore to receive the workpiece. The substantially cylindrical member includes at least one longitudinal split permitting radial expansion and contraction of at least part of the cylindrical portion for workpiece O.D. finish adjustment. The tool includes a rotable shaft, a plurality of spring loaded work-engaging elements adapted for finishing the O.D. surface of the workpiece. The work engaging elements have abrasive inserts. The plateaued O.D. surface has peaks that are 3-10 times smaller than the valleys.

  • Patent number: 6139414
Abstract: The present invention provides a radially expandable plateauing tool for finishing bore surfaces. The tool includes a shank for attachment to a means for rotation, and a substantially cylindrical portion including an outer work-engaging surface including abrasive particles secured thereto, and an inner surface defining a bore therethrough with at least one longitudinal split permitting radial expansion and contraction of the cylindrical portion. A metallic spring is disposed within the bore and a threaded bolt assembly or other device is provided for applying an axial compressive force on the spring such that the spring exerts a radial expansive force on the cylindrical portion causing the cylindrical portion to expand to adjust the outer work-engaging surface. The spring is comprised with longitudinal splits aligned with corresponding longitudinal splits on the cylindrical portion to permit coolant flow therethrough.
