Interrelated To Move Plural Tools Patents (Class 451/483)
  • Patent number: 8753175
Abstract: A position adjustment mechanism for grinding wheels includes a rotating body, a first grinding unit, a second grinding unit, and a fixing nut. The rotating body includes a fixing surface and a first thread portion. The first grinding unit includes a first grinding portion and a fixing portion fixedly engaged with the fixing surface. The second grinding unit includes a second thread portion, which is threadedly engaged with the first thread portion of the rotating body, and a second grinding portion which is spaced from the first grinding portion and which has a different grinding precision from that of the first grinding portion. The fixing nut is threadedly engaged with the first thread portion, and presses axially against the second grinding unit. Thereby, a rough grinding and a fine grinding can be accomplished together within a grinding process, and adjustment on a spacing between the two grinding wheels becomes easy.

  • Publication number: 20030207657
Abstract: A tool for finishing an outside diameter surface of a cylindrical workpiece. The tool includes a rotatable substantially cylindrical member having an inner work-engaging surface adapted for finishing the O.D. surface of the cylindrical workpiece. The inner work-engaging surface includes abrasive particles thereon and defines a bore to receive the workpiece. The substantially cylindrical member includes at least one longitudinal split permitting radial expansion and contraction of at least part of the cylindrical portion for workpiece O.D. finish adjustment. The tool includes a rotable shaft, a plurality of spring loaded work-engaging elements adapted for finishing the O.D. surface of the workpiece. The work engaging elements have abrasive inserts. The plateaued O.D. surface has peaks that are 3-10 times smaller than the valleys.

  • Patent number: 6558240
Abstract: A rotary honing tool includes a rotatable body member mounted on a shaft and having attached rotatable honing arms as well as a band or collar fitted about the body. The collar is engaged with the body by means of a lug on the collar fitted into a channel on the outside face of the cylindrical body. The collar may be rotatably displaced to control radial extention of the honing arms.

  • Patent number: 5564968
Abstract: A honing tool comprises an hexagonally shaped mandrel having a cylindrical bore extending centrally therethrough. Six similar tool holders are each provided with a pair of spaced cylindrical gear racks having rack gear teeth formed thereon and integrally attached to an elongate tool support. A metal tool carrier to which is suitably bonded a tool, such as an abrasive cutting stone or a wiper is removably attached to a respective tool support by a clamp screw. The gear racks of each tool holder are slidably mounted in respective bearings holes in the mandrel. Gear teeth on the racks mesh with gear teeth formed on a splined shaft rotatably mounted in the mandrel bore. Thus, rotation of the shaft counterclockwise relative to the mandrel extend all of the tools outwardly to extended positions.
