Rollers Patents (Class 451/83)
  • Patent number: 8814634
Abstract: This invention provides a conveying apparatus and a blasting machine equipped with the conveying apparatus that can prevent workpieces from being damaged by the used abrasives attached to the conveying rollers. For the conveying apparatus, a peripheral part 33a disposed at the peripheral surface of a rolling member 33 of a rolling roller 31 is made of a softer elastic material than the material of the panel P, wherein when used abrasives get stuck between the peripheral part 33a of the rolling member 33 and the panel P, since the peripheral part 33a acts as a cushioning material that can reduce the force caused by the used abrasives and loaded on the panel P, even if the panel P is made of a fragile material, such as glass, the panel P can be conveyed without flaws being caused by the used abrasives.

  • Patent number: 6416390
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for marring a surface of a fiber optic substrate by sandblasting one or more sides of the substrate during movement of the substrate past one or more sandblasting nozzles to produce a specific illumination pattern. The nozzles may be operated intermittently to produce intermittent light emitting areas along the length of the substrate. Alternatively, the substrate may be moved past the nozzles at a variable speed, or the pressure of the nozzles or spacing of the nozzles from the surface of the substrate may be regulated during movement of the substrate past the nozzles in order to produce a specific illumination pattern. Also, a perforated plate may be placed between the nozzles and substrate in order to produce a specific illumination pattern. After the sandblasting operation, the substrate may be cleaned and cut to desired lengths, and permanently heat formed into any desired shape.

  • Patent number: 6036581
Abstract: A substrate cleaning method includes the steps of supplying a cleaning fluid containing fine argon particles or fine carbon dioxide gas particles to a nozzle unit which is accommodated in a vacuum container and in which spray nozzle holes are arranged to blow the cleaning fluid toward a plurality of spaces, where a plurality of cleaning target substrates are respectively arranged, from front and back sides simultaneously, discharging the fluid outside the vacuum container to maintain an interior of the vacuum container in vacuum, arranging and fixing the plurality of cleaning target substrates respectively in the plurality of spaces and cleaning the cleaning target substrates while vertically moving either one of the cleaning target substrates and the nozzle unit so that the cleaning target substrates and the nozzle unit vertically move relative to each other, and supplying a discharge fluid, which constantly discharges the cleaning fluid from the spaces, from above the cleaning target substrates.

  • Patent number: 5507683
Abstract: A particle blasting machine for deburring articles includes first, second, and third conveyors, first and second positioning elements, particle abrading apparatus and first and second ejecting elements. Articles are automatically ejected from the second conveyor onto the first conveyor and move in contact with the first positioning element. The second positioning element then moves into contact with the article initiating operation of the particle abrading element. The deburred article is then ejected by the second ejecting element onto the third conveyor.

  • Patent number: 5371972
Abstract: Surface anomalies on pipe are removed preparatory to corrosion coating. The removal is conducted by brushing with wire brush elements or Comax brush elements which may rotate about axes parallel to the pipe axis or substantially radially off the pipe. Both kinds of brush elements may be used in combination. Before subjecting the pipe to brushing, the surface is particulate blasted to remove ferric oxide and better expose surface anomolies. After wire brushing, the surface is again particulate blasted to provide an anchor pattern of indentations promoting adhesion of the coating.
