  • Patent number: 10556320
Abstract: A computerized method and apparatus for high pressure grit or sand blasting comprises an upright cabinet through which work pieces, supported by a roller conveyor, can be disposed for blasting. An elongated actuator assembly horizontally extending across the enclosure interior comprises a pair of rigid, spaced-apart, rails upon which a displaceable carriage can move. The carriage supports a sand blasting head and nozzle. An internal tape within the actuator assembly moves the carriage. Tape condition is monitored by software in response to a magnetic sender driven by the tape idler pulley and an adjacent Hall effect sensor that picks up timed pulses. The actuator assembly is braced by buffer wheel assemblies at each end, in contact with vertical guide rails at each cabinet interior end. The hose-fed sand blasting head secured to the carriage directs sand or towards a target work piece be processed.

  • Patent number: 9248546
Abstract: The present disclosure includes a belt-and-pulley system for a part processing assembly. The part is retained on a spindle assembly of the belt-and-pulley system, and rotation of the spindle assembly is driven by a drive belt of the belt-and-pulley system that travels along a belt path. The belt-and-pulley system includes one or more idler assemblies that permit continuous rotation of the drive belt regardless of whether a part is being processed. As a part is processed, processing material, such as peening material, may be introduced near the belt-and-pulley system and may unintentionally interfere with operation of the belt-and-pulley system. The idler assembly of the belt-and-pulley system includes a vane sweep that is configured to block or prevent introduction of the processing material into the rotational operation of a circular pulley of the idler assembly.

  • Patent number: 8506361
Abstract: A fixture for facilitating sandblasting of a generally cylindrical object includes a frame, a rotary table mounted on the frame, and a moveable blast head which can direct a flow of grit onto a cylindrical object mounted on the rotary table. The blast head may be movable vertically so that it can be extended down into the interior of a cylindrical object. The blast head may also be movable in a rotational fashion. Further the blast head may be movable in horizontal directions so that the blast head can be moved relative to a vertically extending cylindrical surface of a cylindrical object mounted on the rotary table. Controlled movements of the rotary table and the blast head allow uniform sandblasting of the cylindrical object.

  • Publication number: 20080207101
Abstract: An abrasive element has a first surface region which coincides with an enveloping surface of the element, and a second surface region which does not. When the element is pressed against a planar surface, part of the second surface region, which is provided with abrasive material, comes into contact with the surface. Also disclosed are a system comprising at least two part-elements which can be connect to form an abrasive element, and methods for making and using the abrasive element.
