The housing further comprises an outlet body with an exit aperture. A pivoting door element is mounted in the interior space and shaped as a second cylindrical segment with a second radial surface with a second angular divergence which is less than the first angular divergence. The door element has a pivot axis that allows the second radial surface to slide along the first radial surface.

In this device, one end of an air flow channel is connected to an air conditioning unit for blowing temperature-regulated air into a vehicle interior, and the other end opens into the vehicle interior. The air flow channel draws air into the vehicle interior from the opening, the intake air is passed through a battery and heated by heat exchange, and the air is then sent to the air conditioning unit. The air conditioning unit sends the air from the air flow channel to a sensible heat exchanger, and after this air undergoes heat exchange with air taken in from another channel, the air is exhausted out of the vehicle interior.

The air conditioner increases an amount of airflow and reduces airflow resistance since airflow paths are formed on both sides of the evaporator in addition to a direction perpendicular to the separator. Consequently, the airflow entering a lower part of the evaporator can be uniformly distributed.

    Abstract: In a vehicle air conditioner, first and second downstream side passages are provided in an air conditioning case to guide air to a defroster opening and a foot opening, respectively. A switching door is capable of switching between a partition position for partitioning the first downstream side passage and the second downstream side passage from each other, and a communication position for establishing communication between the first downstream side passage and the second downstream side passage. An air outlet mode switching device is capable of switching between a foot mode and a foot/defroster mode. In the foot mode, the air outlet mode switching device causes both the foot door and defroster door to be opened and causes the first switching door to be set at the partition position. Therefore, it is possible to prevent a problem due to an air outlet mode door with a small opening degree.

By this arrangement, dimensions of the air conditioning apparatus are reduced with respect to horizontal and vertical directions. Thus, this compact air conditioning apparatus can be installed in a small space such as in a center console or an interior side trim space.

Accordingly, a temperature of air blown from a foot outlet into a passenger compartment is different from that of air blown from a face outlet.
