Abstract: A system and methodology that facilitates management and utilization of variable subscriber identifiers (V-SubIds) for protecting subscriber privacy is disclosed herein. In one aspect, an Anonymous Customer Reference (ACR) component receives a V-SubId, which is a short-lived subscriber identifier that is to be inserted in a communication messages transmitted from a user equipment instead of a unique device identifier (UDID) of the user equipment. On expiration of the V-SubId, a new V-SubId is received and utilized in subsequent communication messages transmitted from the user equipment. Further, trusted systems/applications can exchange the V-SubId for a subscriber identifier (SubId) associated with the user equipment. Furthermore, untrusted systems/applications can exchange, based on user authorization, the V-SubId for an application-specific ACR that remains static and/or valid for a predefined time period.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide systems and methods for NFC secure application support when an NFC device is executing in a battery-off or battery-low mode. In such a case, the NFC device may have enough power to execute some applications (e.g., read-only applications) but not enough power to execute others (e.g., applications that require data to be written). Embodiments of the present invention enable these lower-power applications to be executed by the NFC device even when a host communications device has no battery power.

Abstract: A digital image viewing system comprises a wireless phone unit, a battery charger for the wireless phone unit and a digital photo frame in short-range wireless communication with the wireless phone unit. The digital photo frame may include phone function unit. Usual slide show is played on display of digital photo frame and replaced by a special image when a speaker of digital photo frame plays a ringer melody. The special image relates to a person causing the ringer melody. An operation at the wireless phone unit is transmitted to the digital photo frame through the short-range wireless communication to change the special image back to the usual slide show. Upon receipt of e-mail with image data attached, cellar phone automatically but conditionally opens the e-mail and takes out the image data to transmit it to digital photo frame through the short-range wireless communication or direct contact with battery charger.

Abstract: NFC-capable systems and devices, and related methods, for controlling operation of an NFC-capable mobile device are disclosed. Through NFC communication, the NFC-capable mobile device detects a load associated with a surface proximate the NFC-capable mobile device. Based at least partly on a determined sustained intensity of the load, the NFC-capable mobile device triggers operation of a camera of the NFC-capable mobile device to capture an image of the surface proximate the NFC-capable mobile device. Based at least partly on a determined correspondence of the captured image with stored image data, the NFC-capable mobile device executes a device control command, such as to control some aspect of the NFC-capable mobile device based on the detected surface, which may be part of a holster for holstering the NFC-capable mobile device.

Abstract: An embodiment of the invention provides a method for social network based Wi-Fi, wherein an antenna of a mobile electronic device identifies at least one wireless network within range of the mobile electronic device, and wherein owner(s) of the wireless network(s) are identified with a processor. Relationship status(es) between the owner of the mobile electronic device and the owner(s) of the wireless network(s) are determined with an analysis engine. The wireless network(s) and the relationship status(es) between the owner of the mobile electronic device and the owner(s) of the wireless network(s) are displayed on the mobile electronic device. A request to access a wireless network is received from the owner of the mobile electronic device. Access to the wireless network is automatically granting when the relationship status between the owner of the mobile electronic device and the owner of the wireless network is above a predetermined threshold.
