Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention include a method for synchronizing a popularity value of distributed cache data, a method, an apparatus, and a system for cooperative and distributed caching. The synchronizing method includes: receiving, by a first base station, a request for accessing a packet domain service sent by a user equipment; if the first base station determines that the packet domain service is locally cached, sending the packet domain service to the user equipment and incrementing a current popularity value of the packet domain service in a list of locally cached content of the first base station according to a preset function; and sending, when the current popularity value of the packet domain service is accumulated to a preset threshold, the current popularity value to a popularity information synchronizing node for synchronization, and clearing the current popularity value locally cached. The present invention saves a transmission bandwidth of an IUB interface.

Abstract: In a wireless communication device having a first and a second radio access interface for respectively communicating with a first and a second access network, a method for retrieving content comprises receiving a request for retrieval of content from a remote server and retrieving a first part of the requested content over a first radio access technology connection. When the retrieval of the first part is determined not to meet a required QoS threshold, the second radio access interface is activated. A next part of the requested content to be retrieved is divided into a first portion for retrieval over the first radio access technology connection and a second portion for retrieval over a second radio access technology connection such that retrieval of the first and second portions are estimated to meet the required QoS threshold, and are retrieved over the first and second radio access technology connections, respectively.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses to dynamically allocate location dependent telephone numbers to facilitate voice connections between people. One embodiment includes: responsive to a request from a user, selecting a telephone number from a plurality of telephone numbers of a connection server to match a location indicator of the request; embedding the telephone number in an advertisement, the telephone number to be used by the user to initiate a telephone call to the connection server for further connection to an advertiser of the advertisement; and providing the advertisement with the telephone number of the connection server as a response to the request. In one embodiment, responsive to receiving the telephone call at the telephone number of the connection server from the user, whether to play a prompt message to the user is determined based at least in part on statistic data about telephone calls collected at the connection server.

Abstract: A method of operating a wireless terminal communicating with a radio access network over a radio interface may include saving information in memory at the wireless terminal identifying locations associated with a wireless terminal location configuration. A configuration message may be received from a configuration management system over the radio interface at the wireless terminal, with the configuration message including information identifying a new location associated with the wireless terminal location configuration. Responsive to receiving the configuration message, the information identifying the new location associated with the wireless terminal location configuration may be saved in the memory at the wireless terminal thereby adding the new location to the locations associated with the wireless terminal location configuration.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for detecting associated devices. In accordance with one implementation, a method is provided for detecting associated devices. The method includes obtaining information about a target device and determining, based on the information about the target device, one or more target observations that include a target time and a target location. The method also includes identifying one or more second observations of one or more candidate devices, wherein the candidate observations include a second time and a second location that correspond with the target time and the target location. In addition, the method includes determining, from the one or more candidate devices, any associated devices that may correspond with the target device.

Abstract: An embodiment of a method for call management, performed by a processing unit of a UE (user equipment), is disclosed. The method is employed in a hardware configuration of at least two subscriber identity cards sharing a radio resource. A PS (packet-switched) service is first provided for the first subscriber identity card. Packet data transmission and reception is handed over to a second PS service with the second subscriber identity card from the first PS service after receiving a call request requesting a CS (circuit-switched) service with the second subscriber identity card.

Abstract: A method and system is presented for a mobile wireless communication device that may communicate information to a first network device for enabling authentication, authorization and/or management of accounting for the mobile wireless device for use within a first network that utilizes a first wireless communication standard. A communication session may be established with a second network that utilizes a second wireless standard based on data sent to the second network related to the first authentication, authorization and/or accounting management. The wireless mobile device is operable to establish simultaneous communication sessions with the first network and the second network without communicating authentication, authorization and/or accounting information to the second network. The first and/or second network may comprise and/or share a session control server.

Abstract: An apparatus for receiving audio from an audio source device, comprises a housing. The housing contains a receiver for receiving audio over a wireless connection, a microphone, a transmitter for transmitting audio from the microphone to the audio source device, and a processor capable of establishing the wireless connection. The apparatus further comprises a battery, a clip attached to the housing, for attaching the apparatus to a garment or an article of luggage, and a speaker adapted for placement on or in a human ear, coupled to the housing via a wire inside the housing and the speaker, such that the speaker, the clip and the housing appear as a single unit. The apparatus may also comprise a mechanical power switch, which powers on the apparatus, establishes the wireless connection, and answers an incoming call if present, upon the placement of the mechanical power switch in an on position.

Abstract: Providing a contextual reminder to a mobile station includes determining a locus of the mobile station based on the position of the mobile station in both time and space. A first entry is read, where the first entry can be at least a task or an event. Both tasks and events can include a time, a date, and/or a location. The locus and the first entry can be compared to determine if the contextual reminder should be provided to the mobile station. The contextual reminder can be provided to the mobile station based on the comparison. The reminder can be provided when at least one of the time, the date and the geographical position of the mobile station is proximate to at least one of the time, date, and location of the entry.

Abstract: A system and machine-implemented method for calculating a dynamic delay for an email message, the method including receiving an indication of an email message being created by a user, identifying one or more characteristics of the email message in response to receiving the indication, determining an impact associated with the email message based on one or more of the identified one or more characteristics of the email message or one or more behavioral information regarding the user sending the email message, determining a customized delay for the email message based on the determined impact, the delay comprising a length of time and delivering the email message to one or more recipients of the email message after the length of time has elapsed.

Abstract: A push notification delivery system includes a server system including a processor, a network interface, and memory storing program instructions having code segments for receiving a received push notification, code segments for determining at least one of a favorable push time and a favorable message format based upon a database of received push information developed from a plurality of prior sent push notifications, and code segments for pushing the message to the destination in accordance with the at least one of a favorable push time and a favorable message format. A method for delivering push notifications includes receiving a received push notification including a message and a destination, sending a sent push notification derived from the received push notification to the destination in accordance with at least one favorable condition, receiving received push information related to the sent push notification, and storing the received push information in a database.

The WTRU detects a format of control information in at least one control channel element (CCE) of a common area in a control portion of a downlink transmission. The control information indicates a resource allocation in a data portion of the downlink transmission. The WTRU recovers a random access response assigned to the WTRU from the indicated resource allocation of the data portion on a condition that the at least one CCE has a random access radio network terminal identifier (RA-RNTI) assigned to the WTRU.

An example of DVR usage data comprises data reflecting that a viewer is viewing a video program which is R-rated. Another example of DVR usage data comprises a viewer entering a password, such as a kids zone password, to exit kids zone operational mode.

Abstract: One embodiment of the method includes allocating, using a network management entity, at least one of a plurality of physical resource blocks (PRBs) of a first wireless access technology for utilization by a second wireless access technology. A spectrum of the first wireless access technology is embedded within a spectrum of the second wireless access technology. The method further includes communicating, using the network management entity, a message to a controller of the first wireless access technology identifying the PRBs not allocated for utilization by the second wireless access technology.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a machine type communication (MTC) device can receive registration associated with a new device upon the new device registration for a computer network. The MTC device can further determine a machine-to-machine (MTM) service class for the new device based on the registration data with the service class associated with at least one network route for messages destined for the new device. The MTC device can further receive a trigger message destined for the device and route the trigger message according to the network route associated with the determined MTM service class.

Abstract: There are provided methods, systems, devices and computer program products for reliable delivery of content packages to a client device. Push delivery of content packages is combined with pull delivery when a push delivery fails. When a client device participates in a push delivery but fails to complete, a recommendation for corrective action may be notified and, following such corrective action, the client device pulls delivery. Respective content listings are maintained by server and client device for reconciliation to prompt pull delivery by the client device.

Abstract: A computer based method for correlating conversations is provided, including the steps of providing a discussion interface at an interface device, receiving an indication that one of several messages displayed at the discussion interface is part of an active conversation, providing a message entry location for imputing new messages associated with the discussion interface, and receiving new messages at the message entry location. New messages received are automatically associated with the active conversation by displaying them with a visual cue shared by all messages associated with the active conversation.

Abstract: The present invention provides a mobile terminal and an access method for an E-RUCCH. The method comprises: when upload data authorization information has expired and the amount of buffer data in a logical channel of the mobile terminal is zero, starting a timer; judging whether or not the timer is timed out, and if upload data authorization information is received before the timer is timed out, resetting the timer and initiating an E-RUCCH access; if the upload data authorization information is not received before the timer is timed out, resetting the timer when the timer is timed out and judging whether there is any buffer data in the logical channel; and when the amount of the buffer data in the logical channel exceeds a threshold of the buffer data in the logical channel, initiating the E-RUCCH access. Through the above-mentioned method and the mobile terminal, it is able to control the E-RUCCH access time of the mobile terminal and prevent the mobile terminal from initiating unnecessary, frequent access.

The method may include receiving user information in a notification database identifying a notification recipient. The method may further provide receiving synchronization information from a business entity configured to upload notifications intended for the at least one user recipient. A method includes indicating to a wireless communication device a temporary address number, receiving an instruction from a user of the wireless communication device to transfer a text message to a destination number using the temporary address number instead of a device number of the wireless communication device. The method also includes transferring the text message for delivery to the destination number, receiving a response text message from the destination number indicating the temporary address number as a response destination number, and transferring the response text message for delivery to the routing node associated with the temporary address number.

In one or more implementations, common sound data and uncommon sound data are identified from a plurality of sound data from a plurality of recordings of an audio source using a collaborative technique. The identification may include recognition of spectral and temporal aspects of the plurality of the sound data from the plurality of the recordings and sharing of the recognized spectral and temporal aspects to identify the common sound data as common to the plurality of recordings and the uncommon sound data as not common to the plurality of recordings.

Each gateway is associated with a zone and manages presence information only for mobile devices associated with that zone. Courier devices back-propagate presence information for the mobile devices to respective gateways based at least on the respective zone associated with each mobile device. The gateways and couriers are dynamically configured such that messages can be pushed from a provider application to a mobile device via any gateway and any courier.

Abstract: A method of operating a cellular telephone comprises presenting a user with an option of a first rule or a second rule, and accepting a selection of the first rule or the second rule. The first rule relates to a voice message, and the second rule relates to a text message. The method determines that reception is not sufficient to establish communication, and stores an address of an intended recipient. The method also stores the voice message if the first rule was selected or the text message if the second rule was selected. When reception is sufficient to establish communication, the stored message is sent to the address.

Abstract: A peer in a peer-to-peer network joins an advertisement room having an associated identifier. A joining peer identifies a peer closest to the advertisement room. In various embodiments, the peer that is closest to the advertising room is the peer having a discreet hash table ID closest to the advertisement room identifier. The joining peer requests from the closest peer information about peers that the closest peer knows to be part of the advertisement room. The closest peer provides the joining peer with connection information for those peers, and the joining peer establishes connections with the peers. Peers in the advertisement room provide advertisements for chat rooms. To join a chat room, a peer determines which of its peers in the advertisement room is the closest peer to the chat room, based on the chat room identifier, and informs that peer that it is now part of the chat room.

Abstract: Mobile communication devices, such as mobile phones, may be capable of recommending to a user various providers of one or more solicited services, e.g., by identifying a user location and identifying providers near the user location that provide the services, and by initiating a call between the user and a selected provider. However, the equipment and service costs of such devices may be prohibitive, particularly for mid-range mobile communication devices that may appeal to cost-conscious users. The prohibitive costs may be diminished by redirecting part or all of the cost of providing the recommendation service from the providers, e.g., by charging the provider a service cost upon initiating a call from the user to the provider, or upon representing the provider in a provider database. In one such embodiment, all service costs may be borne by providers, providing to the user a free recommendation service via the mobile communication device.

The transceiver receives a first packet broadcast from a second network device to multiple network devices via a channel. A bit in the first packet indicates a request for a condition of the channel. The controller, prior to the circuit determining the condition of the channel and in response to the bit in the first packet, transitions the circuit to an active state. The controller, subsequent to the circuit determining the condition of the channel, returns the circuit to an inactive state. The transceiver, subsequent to the circuit returning to the inactive state, transmits a second packet to the second network device. The second packet indicates the condition of the channel.

Abstract: The present invention includes a method and software application for providing a promotion to a user on a phone. The software application resides on a user's phone and “listens” for phone numbers dialed by a user. In response to the user dialing a phone number, the software determines whether a promotion or an offer for a promotion should be provided to the user. In response to determining to play or offer to play a promotion to the user, the software application on the phone effectively “intercepts” the call and plays to the user either a promotion or an offer to hear about a promotion prior to placing an outbound voice call. The software application may retrieve the promotion from local memory or may connect with a remote server to download an applicable promotion.

Abstract: Various aspects disclosed herein are directed to different types of automated personal assistant techniques for facilitating call event notation, tagging, calendaring, etc., particularly those implemented on mobile communication devices. Users of mobile devices are provided with a relatively easy way to record and organize personal notes relating to one or more selected telephone conversations conducted by the user. Users can also manage notes, tasks, and schedule items related to the user's contacts and social network(s). In at least one embodiment, a Mobile Application running on a user's mobile device may be configured or designed to automatically detect an end of phone call event at the mobile device, and to automatically display a “pop-up” dialog GUI prompting the user to record a personalized note or other content (if desired), to be associated with the phone call which just ended.

Abstract: Methods and systems for providing current email addresses or contact information to members within a social network are described. In one described method, an email program application requests an email address for a member within a social network. Using profile information associated with the member, the email address is provided to the email program application which sent the request. The email address is then entered into the send-to parameter field of an email message. In another described method, contact information associated with a first member of a social can be provided to a second member of the social network. The contact information is provided if the relationship between the first and second members is an authorized relationship. The contact information associated with the first member can be used to update the contact information for the first member in an electronic address book associated with the second member.

Abstract: In response to determining that a Bluetooth inquiry phase or a Bluetooth paging phase is beginning, a power save (PS) mode signal is sent from a first device to a second device via a wireless local area network (WLAN) communication link, wherein the PS mode signal indicates that the first device is in a WLAN PS mode. A PS poll signal is sent from the first device to the second device via the WLAN communication link in a gap between Bluetooth inquiry phase message transmissions during the Bluetooth inquiry phase or between Bluetooth paging phase message transmissions during the Bluetooth paging phase.

Abstract: In a method for providing a content service to a recipient (20) in communications, a service center (14) receives information on a recipient identification and on service terminals (16) assigned, in a sender device (38), for the content. The service center (14) uploads the content to the assigned service terminals (16). The service terminal (16) receives information on a location of a transmitter device (34) of the recipient (20). The service terminal (16) compares the received location information with location information on the service terminal (16). Based on the comparing, if the service terminal is in a close proximity of the transmitter device (34) of the recipient (20) the service terminal (16) activates a first display content for inviting the service terminal (16) to display the uploaded content on a monitor of the service terminal (16). When the recipient acknowledges the first display content, the service terminal may take actions related to a second display content.

Abstract: A method of commencement of operation of a communication system such as an Ethernet OAM system enables an endpoint (A) to transmit and receive repetitive connectivity check messages on a link between the endpoint and a remote endpoint (B). A loss of connectivity with the remote endpoint is determined by the absence of received connectivity check messages within a monitoring interval. The commencement of the monitoring interval is delayed until a predetermined number of valid connectivity check messages has been received. The method may be implemented by use of a counter for received connectivity check messages and an additional waiting state in a state machine.

Abstract: A method includes a wireless mobile device communicating with a wireless network via an evolved high rate packet data (eHRPD) interface. The wireless mobile device may receive a vendor specific network control protocol (VSNCP) packet such as a terminate-request packet, for example, that indicates the wireless network has requested a PDN disconnection. The VSNCP packet includes a cause code that indicates a reason for the PDN disconnection request. The wireless device may use the cause code to determine the reason for the PDN disconnection request. Accordingly, in response to receiving the VSNCP packet, the wireless mobile device may perform one or more operations in an effort to resolve any issues that may have caused the PDN disconnection request.

Abstract: A method for providing a voice call using text data and an electronic device thereof are provided. The method includes converting the detected text data into audio data when an input of the text data is detected during call connection, and converting the converted audio data into a digital signal to transmit the converted digital signal to another party.
