  • Patent number: 9691073
Abstract: A social networking system provides relevant content objects at the request of social networking system users. Relevance scores are determined for content objects by matching user location, user interests, and other social information to the content, location, and timing associated with content objects. A ranked list of content objects can be provided to the user, where the content objects are relevant to them based on their interests, location, and other social information. The system provides a user interface that displays a map containing pins, where each pin represents a content object in actionable proximity to a user. The content objects selected to be presented as pins to the user are those content objects with sufficiently high relevance scores. Multiple pins for a nearby area can be clustered. The user can switch between zoom levels for the map, thereby showing pins at varying distances from the user's current location.

  • Patent number: 9615253
Abstract: A system, method, and computer readable medium that facilitates delivery of mobile-terminated short message service messages to a mobile station attached with a femtocell system are provided. A convergence server deployed in a core network receives a short message for short message service delivery to a mobile station attached with a femtocell system. If there is no active traffic channel with the mobile station, or if the short message is to be delivered to the mobile station via a paging channel, the femtocell system triggers an authentication process. The convergence server constructs a short message service delivery request message, transmits the short message service delivery request message to the femtocell system, and receives one of an acknowledgement and a negative acknowledgment regarding delivery of the short message to the mobile station. The convergence server thereafter notifies the message center of the acknowledgment or negative acknowledgement received thereby.

  • Patent number: 9554240
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for multiple connection management for Bluetooth (BT) devices, and more particularly for BT Low Energy (BLE) devices, to multiple different bonded BT peer devices. A BT device database within a non-volatile memory (NVM) stores identification and persistent information for each bonded BT peer device. At power-on reset (PoR), only device identification information (DII) data, such as an address (ADDR) and an IRK (identity resolving key), for each bonded BT peer device is copied from the NVM to a volatile memory that is used for run-time operation. When a bonded BT peer device forms an active connection, it is identified using the DII data, and its persistent data is copied from NVM to volatile memory as run-time data. The BT device then communicates with the actively connected BT peer device at least in part using the run-time data for the actively connected BT peer device.

  • Patent number: 9198155
Abstract: Methods, program products, and systems for task management based on travel distance are disclosed. In general, in one aspect, a method executed on a mobile device can include receiving a request to perform a task in a first subsystem (e.g., an application subsystem) of the mobile device. The request can indicate that the task is to be performed when the mobile device travels at least a threshold distance. The mobile device can determine a duration of silence. The mobile device can configure a second subsystem (e.g., a baseband operating system) of the mobile device to send a notification to the first subsystem notifying that the mobile device has traveled after at least the duration of silence. The first subsystem can receive the notification and determine that the threshold distance has been satisfied based on the received notification. The first subsystem can perform the task upon the determining.

  • Patent number: 9198088
Abstract: The present disclosure presents a method and an apparatus for searching for service when a multi-mode UE goes out of service (OOS). For example, the disclosure presents a method for receiving a request to scan frequencies of a RPLMN of a first RAT and scanning the frequencies of the first RAT based on an acquisition database (ACQ DB). In addition, such an example method, may include sending an available PLMN list to the NAS layer, switching to a second RAT based on a request from the NAS layer, scanning frequencies of the second RAT based on the ACQ DB, and camping on a frequency of the second RAT found during the scanning of the frequencies of the second RAT based on the ACQ DB. As such, a method and an apparatus for searching for service when a multi-mode UE goes OOS may be achieved.

  • Patent number: 9185212
Abstract: Devices, systems and methods are disclosed for selecting and sending one of a plurality of responses to a call on a communications device. A user may select a default response or a custom response. When the user receives a call to a communications device, a set of responses is displayed on the communications device to facilitate selection by the user. A response includes a message and a call processing command. A message is in the form of an audio clip, text message, webpage, picture, video, etc. A call processing command, such as “accept call”; “reject call with voicemail”; “reject call without voicemail”; “place caller on hold”; “forward call to 555-555-5555”; “I will call you back”; etc. is performed along with the message. This plurality of responses can be organized by the user in groups associated with classes of callers, such as friends, family, co-workers, etc. In this manner, the responses available to the user when a call is received changes depending on the caller.

Abstract: An apparatus for delaying a message includes a receiver module, a delay determination module, a storage module, and a display module. The receiver module receives an electronic message. The delay determination module determines if the message includes a request to delay displaying the message. The request includes a requested delay. The storage module stores the message prior to queuing for display in response to the delay determination module determining that the message includes a requested delay. The message is stored in a computer readable storage media accessible to a computing device receiving the message. The display module queues the message for display after the requested delay. In one embodiment, at least a portion of the receiver module, the delay determination module, the storage module, and the display module include hardware and/or executable code where the executable code is stored on one or more computer readable storage media.
