Abstract: Various aspects disclosed herein are directed to different types of automated personal assistant techniques for facilitating call event notation, tagging, calendaring, etc., particularly those implemented on mobile communication devices. Users of mobile devices are provided with a relatively easy way to record and organize personal notes relating to one or more selected telephone conversations conducted by the user. Users can also manage notes, tasks, and schedule items related to the user's contacts and social network(s). In at least one embodiment, a Mobile Application running on a user's mobile device may be configured or designed to automatically detect an end of phone call event at the mobile device, and to automatically display a “pop-up” dialog GUI prompting the user to record a personalized note or other content (if desired), to be associated with the phone call which just ended.

Abstract: The present invention is a method and apparatus to provide remote communication using network telephony. In a transmitter, an activation message is decoded to generate an activation command. The activation message is sent from an activator via a communication medium in response to a telephony call. An information message is transmitted, responsive to the activation command, to a receiver using a communication protocol. In a receiver, an activation message is decoded to generate an activation command. The activation message is sent in response to a telephone call. An information message is received, responsive to the activation command. The information message is sent from a transmitter according to a communication protocol via a communication medium.

Abstract: Disclosed is a technique to enable a communication node to acquire predetermined newer information (e.g., configuration information) held by another communication node while minimizing power consumption by communication nodes. According to the technique, when receiving a request for configuration information from a new MTC device 100, a MME 220 checks whether an existing MTC device 110 as a request target for configuration information connects or not. When the existing MTC device does not connect, the new MTC device is notified of time information (e.g., next connection time of the existing MTC device, a next connection time of a new MTC device or a next connection time zone of the new MTC device). This time information enables the new MTC device to specify a time after the MME acquires and holds the configuration information from the existing MTC device. The new MTC device reconnects based on this time information, whereby the new MTC device can acquire desired configuration information from the MME.

Abstract: A voicemail notification indicates a caller has recorded a voicemail. The voicemail notification may be sent to any destination, such as a caller's device. The voicemail notification may be displayed in a communication log to visually indicate that the voicemail was recorded. A different notification may be sent and displayed to indicats the recipient retrieved the voicemail.

Abstract: A group of wireless device users are notified of an event. A location data determination algorithm is provided to a wireless device, where the algorithm determines a frequency at which the device interacts with network elements to determine its location. The location data is stored in a notification server and used to identify a user at a specific location. When a governmental or commercial entity wishes to issue a notification, a message is provided to those users whose location is identified as being in an area defined by the entity.

Abstract: A mobile communication device provides a user with the ability to set up one or more profiles on the device. Each profile is configured to segment the user's data and applications and selectively restrict access from an active profile to user data and applications associated with other profiles on the device. The mobile communication device stores profile configuration data including profile selection criteria used to automatically associate items of user data with profiles on the device. When an item of user data is received on the device, the device automatically identifies a profile to associate with the received item based on the profile selection criteria, and the received item is stored in the device so as to be associated with the identified profile. Exemplary profile selection criteria include criteria based on a current time or location, a currently active profile, a data type of the received item, and a source of the received item.

Abstract: A short message processing method and apparatus in short message interactive communication is disclosed that allocates identification codes to each service instance and performs short message interaction with uses using numbers embedded with the identification codes. In the short message processing method and apparatus of the present invention, in response to receiving of a short message from a communication terminal, a service instance for the short message is determined based on a server-side communication number contained in the short message, and then a reply short message is sent to the communication terminal using the server-side communication number that is embedded with a service instance identification code corresponding to the determined service instance. The present invention is capable of accurately and conveniently correlating a plurality of short messages with corresponding service instances, thereby enhancing users' experience during an interactive process.

Abstract: A system comprises a processing device including a storage device. The system further comprises a wireless mobile device (“WMD”) in wireless communication with the processing device. The processing device registers the WMD and stores the registration in the system memory, receives a request for retrieval of data located in the WMD, authenticates the request based on the registration, and retrieves the data wirelessly based on the authentication.

Abstract: A voicemail receptionist system includes a memory and a processor. The memory can store data relating to one or more users. An incoming communication can be handled by the voicemail receptionist system and provided with functionality based upon a user's preferences, for example. The data stored by the voicemail receptionist system can be updated at any time, or automatically updated upon updating of the data, or upon occurrence of a trigger event. Voicemail receptionist functionality can include standard voicemail system functionality as well as functionality relating to email, text messaging, MMS messaging, calendar features, schedule announcements, location data, as well as other features.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus to route a communication session directly to a voicemail mailbox are disclosed. An example method includes receiving a communication session initiation message from a caller at a source telephone number, the communication session initiation message including a destination telephone number and a direct voicemail feature identifier, determining that the direct voicemail feature identifier indicates that the caller requests that the call be sent to a voicemail mailbox associated with the destination telephone number, and forwarding the call directly to the voicemail mailbox associated with the destination telephone number without ringing the destination telephone number.

Abstract: An improved system and method to provide important information either, as voice, text, picture, holographic image or video from the called party to a calling party before the called party answers a telephone. The information may be a recorded voice, text, image or video message. The called party may send a voice message, for example, and send it along with a call alerting message. The voice message may be recorded beforehand. Instead of the calling party's telephone playing a ringback signal, the recorded voice message is played or a data/bearer stream is heard. The calling party hears the voice message instead of the ringback tone normally heard when there is an incoming telephone call. If the calling and called party have telephones, such as mobile phones, IP phones, IP softphones, PDA with telephony capabilities, etc., which allow for multimedia messages such as text, images and video messages, the called party's recorded voice message may include text, images or video.

Abstract: Methods, program products, and systems for multi-tier geofence detection are disclosed. In general, in one aspect, a mobile device can be configured to perform a task when the mobile device enters a geographic region. The mobile device can monitor a current location using a multi-tier approach. A baseband subsystem can monitor a coarse location of the mobile device using various course location parameters, such as a mobile country code (MCC), a location area code (LAC), or a cell identifier (cell ID), as the mobile device moves closer to the geographic region. Upon determining that the mobile device is in a cell that intersects the geographic region, the baseband subsystem can transfer the monitoring to the application subsystem. The task can be performed when the application subsystem determines that the mobile device is currently located in the geographic region.

Abstract: Techniques for paging terminals in a wireless (e.g., OFDMA) communication system to achieve both fast paging response and low power consumption for the terminals are described. A terminal receives paging indicator from a base station. If the paging indicator indicates that the terminal is potentially being paged, then the terminal receives at least one paging message from a paging channel. The terminal determines whether any one of the at least one paging message is for the terminal e.g., based on identification information included in each paging message. If a paging message indicates that the terminal is paged, then the terminal sends an acknowledgement for the paging message. The base station may estimate the timing of the terminal based on the acknowledgement and may send timing adjustment to the terminal. The terminal may adjust its timing based on the timing adjustment and may be able to quickly access the system with no contention.

Abstract: Embodiments described herein generally relate to a method and system of integrating a user's voice mail onto a single voice messaging service, e.g., a Unified Messaging (UM) service, such that a client may access this single source for voice mail retrieval, even where such voice mails are from a variety of sources, e.g., work, mobile phone, etc. A user, or the user's mobile operator, need only agree to accept the service, and the registration and configuration requirements for providing the service and forwarding calls to the service are automatically configured. Configurations may monitor the status of the service and update access and/or forwarding numbers. Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system for displaying, organizing, and prioritizing the incoming information on a wireless device. Using the present invention the wireless device can display the number of voice mails, e-mails, pages, and Internet information alerts that have been received by the wireless device during a specified time period. The invention also allows the incoming information to be separated by any number of user-specified criteria such as the originating sender, or divided by work related and personal messages. The present invention allows the wireless device user to see at a glance what kind of information has been received and is being stored on the wireless device.

Notification messages, each with an attached or embedded Trace ID, are sent by a message service to one or more mobile devices. The message content and timing is controlled by a modifiable ruleset maintained by the message service. User action in response to a notification message results in session data and an embedded or attached Trace ID being sent by the mobile device(s) to the message service. The message service analyzes the session data and, if appropriate, modifies the ruleset.

Abstract: A notification handling system determines a notification type for a notification received at a first device of a group of associated devices. The system determines at least a second device from the group that has a capability related to the notification type and accordingly routes the notification to the second device. The second device may be paired to the first device via a wireless link. The notification handling system also augments the notification with additional information for the second device based on the capability of the second device. The augmented information is obtained by extracting data from the notification and augmenting the notification based on the extracted data. The notification handling system may also send or receive a global notification dismissal that dismisses the notification from all associated devices that may have received the notification.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for providing a mobile personal assistant are provided. The method includes receiving a telephone call at a mobile terminal, determining whether a user of the mobile terminal is available to take the call based on a current context of the mobile terminal; and when the user of the mobile terminal is not available to take the call, handling the call by a mobile personal assistant on behalf of the user.

Abstract: A system and method are provided that enable a mobile device when out-of-coverage and thus unable to send or receive messages to rely on other mobile devices which are also out-of-coverage as “hosts” for their outgoing messages such that when one of the hosts comes back into coverage the host mobile device (HMD) can send the outgoing messages on behalf of the originating or “source” mobile device (SMD). The system and method may comprise a pairing procedure to determine the suitability of a mobile device being an HMD according to criteria such as battery power, memory availability and whether the device is also out of coverage. When coming back into coverage, information is obtained from the data communication system to determine whether others have already sent messages that have been provided to host mobile devices.

Abstract: The invention provides a method and a system of antivirus solution by using a SIM card combined with cloud antivirus. The method comprises that the signature data of a file of a present mobile device is sent to a cloud server; the cloud server receives the file the signature data and checks the received file the signature data by using a cloud virus database stored at the cloud server; and the cloud server sends the checking result back to the SIM card of the mobile device via OTA (Over-the-Air). Abstract: An integrated voicemail system is described that provides “visual voicemail” that overcomes the shortcomings associated with a user having to dial into a voicemail system and navigate through a menu of options using conventional voice and/or standard DTMF signaling-based browsing capabilities. The visual voicemail instead provides, via a client device of the user's choice, a visual presentation of a user's voicemails along with state information of the voicemails. The visual presentation of the voicemails includes a user interface that allows a user to control or manipulate voicemails from the client device, where the manipulation includes playing, pausing, rewinding, fast-forwarding, deleting, and changing a state of each voicemail. The visual voicemail also eliminates the need for a user to periodically call-in to the enterprise voicemail system in order to check for voicemail messages as the messages can be automatically delivered to the user's client device.

Abstract: Wireless communication terminals include a memory, a wireless communication module configured to communicate with other communication terminals over a wireless interface, and a controller that is configured to store a digital information signal in the memory and to receive a distribution command from a user of the wireless communication terminal. The controller is further configured, responsive to receiving the distribution command, to send a share notification signal through the wireless communication module to a remotely located other communication terminal, and, responsive to receiving an access request from the other communication terminal, to send the digital information signal to the other communication terminal.
