  • Patent number: 11968331
Abstract: Methods and devices for establishing a communication between a first and a second terminal are described. The disclosed technology can be implemented in or by a server or a terminal in communication with the server. The first terminal can to the server, using a first calling identity, a request including connection information and an identifier of the first terminal. Using the identifier, the server can obtain from a database a pair of calling identities including one certified and one non-certified, the pair comprising the first calling identity and a second calling identity. The server can determine, from one of the calling identities and from the connection information, a connectivity mode of the terminal, and determine a routable number on which the terminal can send a communication to the server. The server can route the communication towards the second terminal by presenting a calling identity of the pair and sending the routable number to the first terminal.

  • Patent number: 10524177
Abstract: Apparatus and methods to manage data connections to multiple wireless networks in a wireless communication device supporting multiple subscriber identities via multiple subscriber identity modules (SIMs) are disclosed. A representative method includes detecting an application request to establish a data connection; obtaining a preference for prioritization of data connections for the multiple SIMs; and based on the preference, establishing the data connection with a wireless network associated with one of the multiple SIMs. In representative embodiments, the preference is based on a user specified or default prioritization of the multiple SIMs, an order of radio access technologies (RATs), one or more quality metrics, data rates supported, and/or availability of wireless local area networks for the data connections.

Abstract: A system and method are presented for voicemail acceleration. A voicemail acceleration system, which functions to accelerate the experience of a user, is associated with at least one user device. A user may initiate an interaction with another user, wherein the device associated with the voicemail acceleration system detects that the interaction is being sent to voicemail through contact analysis. A pre-established message and/or a number of options may be presented to the user initiating the interaction, wherein the user may choose an option or elect to automatically leave a message and end the interaction on their end. The voicemail acceleration system provides the retrieved message to the other user and finishes the interaction.

  • Patent number: 10484846
Abstract: A network-based service is utilized to facilitate twinning of two or more communication devices associated with a subscriber account. Incoming communication is intercepted by a communication device and forwarded to a network server, which in turn transmits the incoming communication to the multiple twinned devices. In addition, identifier data associated with outgoing communication is replaced with a primary identifier (e.g., customer telephone number (CTN)) of a user's primary device or a common identifier (e.g., a mobile one number (MON)) assigned to devices associated with the user's subscriber account. Communication devices can be temporarily twinned for a defined time period, during which a common bill can be generated for the twinned devices.

  • Patent number: 10477512
Abstract: A method of paging in a wireless telecommunications system. A core network element selects a base station from plural base stations including a tracking area to have primary responsibility for paging a terminal device and conveys an indication of the terminal device to the selected base station. Each base station maintains a paging database identifying one or more terminal devices for which it has a responsibility for paging. When a terminal device is to be paged, the core network element transmits a paging request to the plural base stations including the tracking area. The respective base stations then determine whether to onward transmit a paging message for the terminal device based on a comparison between an identifier for the terminal device being paged with entries in their paging database, and if the comparison indicates it has responsibility for paging the terminal device, it will transmit a paging message accordingly.

  • Patent number: 10470016
Abstract: Some embodiments relate to methods for provisioning a secondary wireless device with an eSIM for wireless communication and activating multi-SIM functionality between the secondary wireless device and a primary wireless device having a subscribed SIM. The primary wireless device may act as a proxy in obtaining the eSIM for the secondary wireless device. The primary wireless device may then provide, to the cellular network, identifiers of the SIMs of the primary and secondary wireless devices. The primary wireless device may then request initiation of multi-SIM functionality for the two SIMs, and receive an indication that the multi-SIM functionality has been initiated. As an example, the multi-SIM functionality may be implemented by mapping the SIM of the primary wireless device and the SIM of the secondary wireless device (e.g., the provisioned eSIM) to the same Mobile Directory Number (MDN).

  • Patent number: 10448252
Abstract: A GSM, UMTS or LTE mobile telecommunications network includes a radio access network comprising base stations, and further includes one or more additional access points. An access point may be connected to the network core by an IP transport broadband connection. The access point is configured to appear to the mobile terminal as a base station. Arrangements are disclosed which allow the network to restrict access to the network via these access points whilst also minimizing signaling requirements. The access points may be excluded from traditional Tracking Areas, but associated therewith by a network controller in a mapping in order to notify authorized mobile terminals of the Access Point's existence.

  • Patent number: 10440530
Abstract: Embodiments selectively place or accept telephone calls based on recipient preference information, wherein processors are configured to determine whether a first telephone number of a different telephone numbers associated to an identified recipient is ranked highest relative to others of the telephone numbers within the ordered ranking for preferred use in calling the recipient at a local times and geographic locations of receiving mobile devices associated with the telephone numbers. In response to determining that the first number is not ranked highest, the embodiments stop execution of the initiated call to the first number and request authorization from the caller to place the call to another of the telephone numbers that is ranked highest within the ordered ranking. Embodiments further iteratively request authorization from the caller to place the call to others of the telephone numbers next-highest in rank, until placing the call to an authorized one.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for translating a non-playback command into a playback modification to encourage a recipient of the command to execute on the command. A media guidance application may determine a command from a first user to a second user. The media guidance application may compare the command to a set of playback operation commands for a media asset that is currently being played back. The media guidance application may determine that the command is not contained within the set of playback operation commands. In response to determining that the command is not contained within the set of commands, the media guidance application may determine whether the second user executes a desired outcome of the command. And in response to determining that the second user does not execute the desired outcome of the command, the media guidance application may determine whether to modify playback of the media asset.

  • Patent number: 10425867
Abstract: A network node in a communication network provides Automated Neighboring Relation (ANR) data to User Equipments (UEs). The network node collects information of ongoing end-to-end traffic sessions from other network nodes in the communication network, and determines service characteristics of Radio Base Stations (RBSs) based on the collected information. For each RBS, the network node creates an ANR record indicating the determined service characteristics of neighboring RBSs. The network node then transmits the ANR record to each RBS to cause the RBS to propagate the ANR record to attached UEs.

Abstract: Energy efficient roaming of a mobile device is described. The mobile device can include a sensor for sensing a motion of the mobile device to generate a sensor signal. A radio is capable of communicating with a wireless network. A processor activates the radio in the mobile device. The processor generates an environmental profile of the mobile device based at least on the sensor signal. A memory is coupled to the processor for storing the environmental profile. The processor deactivates the radio when the environmental profile indicates that the rate of motion of the mobile device is above a predetermined threshold for a first period of time. The processor reactivates the deactivated radio when the environmental profile indicates that the rate of motion of the mobile device is below the predetermined threshold for a second period of time.
