Call Diversion Patents (Class 455/417)
  • Patent number: 8611879
Abstract: A vPBX server manages calls in a bridged line appearance (BLA) group. A BLA group can include extensions for location-aware mobile devices. The vPBX server contains location based forwarding rules that can be applied together with BLA redirection rules in managing incoming calls. A single extension can appear as a user interface element (e.g., an icon or button) on multiple mobile devices. Using the user interface element, a primary user can view a secondary user's status, including the secondary user's location information. The vPBX server allows the primary user to redirect the incoming calls to devices in accordance with the forwarding rules and the redirection rules.

  • Patent number: 8611519
Abstract: A disclosed application server and method are operable to enable a user to access and modify a remote user profile stored on or otherwise accessible to the application server. The user profile identifies the user's CPE devices and information indicative of priority based call handling rules defined by the user. The profile may also include priority levels assigned by the user to selected telephone numbers. The application server downloads a user's profile information to the CPE devices identified in the profile, which may include multiple CPE devices that operate on different telecommunications networks, for example, VoIP networks, wireless cellular networks, and/or traditional TDM networks. The application server communicates the profile information to the CPE devices defined in the profile. In the case of a TDM phone, the application server uses an intermediary, such as a central office or Service Node, to implement the service on behalf of a TDM telephone.

  • Patent number: 8600006
Abstract: The present invention moves service control, including call control, for a user element from any number of subsystems to a multimedia subsystem (MS). Call control for originating or terminating a call in any subsystem as well as transferring the call between user elements is anchored at a continuity control function (CCF) in the MS. A call may be transferred by the CCF from a first user element to a second user element in the same or different subsystems upon receiving a request from the second user element. A user may invoke a transfer from the first user element to the second user element by having the second user element send an appropriate request to the CCF. The request may be provided to the CCF by initiating a call from the second user element that is intended for the CCF, when the call with the first user element is active.

Abstract: A method for routing calls between a third party telecommunications device (“TD”) and a subscriber TD associated with a primary service and a second line service (“SLS”) involves associating the SLS number of the subscriber, the primary number of the subscriber and the primary number of a third party via a common relationship number. Calls directed from a third party to the SLS number of a subscriber are routed to an SLS platform and redirected to the subscriber TD. Calls directed from the subscriber TD to the third party use the relationship number to route the call to the SLS platform. The combination of the SLS number and the relationship number identifies the third party calling number for call completion. Calls can be directed to and from an SLS number of a subscriber TD without having to coordinate the provisioning of a call through the subscriber's primary service provider.

  • Patent number: 8554183
Abstract: A method of call control in which a first communications network, detecting calls directed to a destination in the first network; redirects at least some of the calls to a destination in a second network (e.g. on no answer from the destination in the first network). The first communications network obtains from a client on a terminal associated with the destination in the second network a value for the time delay before a call to the destination in the second network is redirected in the second network on no answer to an alternative destination and sets a delay period to a value less than the value of the time delay obtained from the client. When one of the plurality of calls redirected to the second network is not answered in the second network within the delay period, the first communications network redirects the call to an alternative destination associated with the first network.

  • Patent number: 8548447
Abstract: Methods and systems are described for processing call blocking instructions and for managing mobile messaging. A method of processing call blocking instructions is described. A call processing system receives a call from a caller intended for a first user. A notification regarding the call is transmitted to a mobile device associated with the first user. A message from the user is received via the mobile device, wherein the message is a text or multimedia type message. At least partly in response to the message, the caller is placed on a blacklist indicating that future calls from the caller to the user are to be blocked.

Abstract: Systems and methods for managing contact information on mobile devices is provided. When a telephone call is initiated or received, a contact record associated with the call is accessed to determine if it includes notes to be displayed during the call. If there are notes to be displayed, they are displayed for the user during the call. Notes may include display tags indicating they should be displayed as well as action tags specifying actions to take for calls with the contact. An option to dismiss the note(s) can be provided, as well as an option to edit the note. When calls complete, the system provides options to the user to create and save a new note for the contact record. In some embodiments, the system provides options for the user to record audio from telephone conversations. The recording is translated to text and optionally stored in a contact record.

  • Patent number: 8548454
Abstract: A method for reducing the number of unsuccessful service change attempts of a first mobile terminal is presented. The mobile terminal (1, 1a, 1b, 420) is connectable via a mobile network to a further terminal by establishing a call connection for providing a first service or by establishing a call connection for providing a second service. The method comprises the following steps performed by the first mobile terminal (1, 1a, 1b, 420): receiving (S21) a first indication signal (202) indicating that a service change towards the second service is temporarily unavailable from a mobile network node (31, 310) administrating an established call connection for providing the first service, and in response to receiving the first indication signal (202) refraining (S22) from requesting a service change towards the second service until reception of a further indication signal (204) from the mobile network node (31, 310) indicating that a service change is available again.

Abstract: The present invention generally relates to systems and methods for sharing information related to a location also referred to herein as a “spot,” such as spot alerts and/or spot comments (e.g., shared information, advertisements, etc.) received, displayed, played, and/or actuated, for example, on recipient mobile electronic devices proximately located to such location (e.g., spot). Users of the system can create spot alerts in which designated recipients can receive messages, such as spot alerts and/or spot comments (e.g., shared information, advertisements, etc.) received, displayed, played, and/or actuated, for example, on respective recipient mobile electronic devices, when located within a proximity of a defined location (e.g., spot).
