  • Patent number: 8559926
Abstract: Subject matter described herein is directed to detecting unauthorized use, such as by a cloned mobile device, of wireless telecommunication services. Mobile-device locations are analyzed to detect outlying locations, such as locations that lack a call relationship with other locations or that are greater than a threshold distance away from other locations. Outlying locations might be detected when more than one discrete location cluster exists among a plurality of mobile-device locations, the discrete clusters having respective locations that are not related by way of a call and that fail to satisfy a threshold distance. Outlying locations or multiple discrete locations clusters suggest an unauthorized use of a mobile device's account.

Abstract: Gateway devices maintain presence information for various mobile devices. Each gateway is associated with a zone and manages presence information only for mobile devices associated with that zone. Courier devices back-propagate presence information for the mobile devices to respective gateways based at least on the respective zone associated with each mobile device. The gateways and couriers are dynamically configured such that messages can be pushed from a provider application to a mobile device via any gateway and any courier.

Abstract: A method for reducing the number of unsuccessful service change attempts of a first mobile terminal is presented. The mobile terminal (1, 1a, 1b, 420) is connectable via a mobile network to a further terminal by establishing a call connection for providing a first service or by establishing a call connection for providing a second service. The method comprises the following steps performed by the first mobile terminal (1, 1a, 1b, 420): receiving (S21) a first indication signal (202) indicating that a service change towards the second service is temporarily unavailable from a mobile network node (31, 310) administrating an established call connection for providing the first service, and in response to receiving the first indication signal (202) refraining (S22) from requesting a service change towards the second service until reception of a further indication signal (204) from the mobile network node (31, 310) indicating that a service change is available again.

Abstract: A solution for managing an asset, such as a movable asset, deployed to a fixed location, is provided. Location and/or power information is periodically acquired for the asset and assessed to determine whether the asset has moved from a desired physical area and/or the power is insufficient to continue with planned operations. In response to either condition, the operation of various devices on the asset can be adjusted to minimize an inferred risk caused by the asset moving outside of the physical area and/or maximize an inferred probability of recovering the asset.

Abstract: A method for communication to/from a multimode terminal operable to communicate via multiple alternative communication technologies. Each region definition indicates a region name and one or more of the communication technologies and/or operating modes plus an activation range and a deactivation range for the communication technologies and/or operating modes. The multimode terminal determines its position and retrieves a stored region definition relating to the region closest to the multimode terminal's determined position. It then compares its determined position with the activation range and a deactivation range of the retrieved region definition. Based on said comparison, the multimode terminal activates and deactivates the multiple alternative communication technologies and/or operating modes indicated by the retrieved region definition.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a radio communication apparatus and a radio communications method, a radio communication system, a recording medium, and a computer program in which a response signal to an inquiry is returned to a master only when instructions to perform radio communications are issued. A CPU 51 blinks LED 56 when an inquiry signal is received, and transmits a response to the inquiry signal when a user who has referred to lighting of the LED 56 operates a connection response button 53. The connection response button 53 is operated when the user issues radio communications instructions with respect to the inquiry signal. In other words, even when wireless headphones 2 are within an area capable of radio communications with the master, only if the connection response button 53 is operated by the user, it sends to the master a response to the inquiry, and establishes connection.

  • Patent number: RE44606
Abstract: Autoband's distributed networking intelligence provides a novel architecture capable of dynamically reconfiguring communications pathways consisting of links whose transmission media are opportunistically and dynamically selectable. At least one constituent node in such automatically configurable transient pathways is mobile, for example, information (source) server, intervening router node(s), gateway server and/or client device. Additionally, Autoband's ad hoc communications pathways may seamlessly and dynamically integrate (i.e., “graft”) into standard fixed node networks such as terrestrial networks, other wireless networks or combinations thereof. These communications may consist of point-to-point or multicast links. An economic market-based approach further assures allocation of available network resources (i.e., bandwidth and processing) needed to achieve the most optimally resource efficient communications pathway configurations for the totality of communications.
