  • Patent number: 10098072
Abstract: A signal processing system, a digital signal processing device (or a digital unit), and a method of controlling transmission power in the system are provided. The digital unit allocates relatively high transmission power to a terminal located in a boundary area of adjacent cells served by two radio units, which is higher than transmission power for transmitting data to a terminal located at about a central area of each cell, rather than the boundary cell of adjacent cells.

  • Patent number: 9686164
Abstract: Methods and systems that facilitate allocating a transmission of data over multiple wireless links using an allocation server is provided. An indication of a first and second endpoint is received. An indication of a plurality of wireless links between the first and second endpoints is also received. The plurality of wireless links transmit data via an information network that includes an allocation server that monitors the packets of data transmitted via the plurality of wireless links. Such monitoring reveals whether one or more of the wireless links satisfies a threshold based on one or more of an amount of latency, jitter, and dropped packets between the first and second endpoints. Based on satisfying a threshold, one or more packets of data are allocated by the allocation server.

  • Patent number: 9585069
Abstract: Confusion resulting from assigning the same node identifier to multiple nodes is resolved through the use of confusion detection techniques and the use of unique identifiers for the nodes. In some aspects a network may provide a time gap (e.g., an asynchronous time gap) during which an access terminal may temporarily cease monitoring transmissions from a source node so that the access terminal may acquire a unique identifier from a target node. In some aspects an access terminal may commence handover operations at a target node after determining whether the access terminal is allowed to access the target node. In some aspects a source node may prepare several target nodes for potential handover in the event confusion is detected or likely. Here, the source node may send information relating to the preparation of the potential target nodes to the access terminal whereby the access terminal uses the handover preparation information to initiate a handover at that target node.

  • Patent number: 9369915
Abstract: An inter-system interference estimation method is disclosed for both primary and secondary radio systems. In the case of a primary system (such as a GSM system), inter-system interference estimation is based on a comparison of cell level measurement statistics before and after secondary spectrum usage in neighboring cells. In the case of a secondary system (such as an LTE system), inter-system interference estimation is based on a measurement on secondary spectrum before starting transmission on the secondary spectrum. Based on both of the above mentioned inter-system inter-cell interference estimations, a cell-level decision on the secondary spectrum usage is made, and optimization of radio resource allocation inside the systems may be carried out.

  • Patent number: 9326255
Abstract: Disclosed in the present invention are a method, an apparatus and a system for interference management. In the embodiments of the present invention, a Home NodeB (HNB) registers in a macro cell in advance, so that a NodeB Controller (NBC) knows the information of a potential interference source HNB beforehand. Thus simply through a normal measurement and a report subsequently performed by a terminal, an interference source HNB can be found easily, and an interference management of the interference source HNB also can be performed. The solution can avoid the situation in the prior art that the interference management is performed necessarily with a cell identity of the interference source HNB obtained by the terminal. With the application of the solution, the interference management to the HNB can be performed timely and effectively and the interference experienced by the terminal from the HNB is reduced.

Abstract: The cognitive radio system and method uses a wideband chirp signal for characterization of the spectra that a mobile radio may use. A cognitive radio base station broadcasts the low power reference wideband chirp signal with bandwidth covering the sensed spectrum. At the receiver, spectral resolution in the presence of white noise is achieved by cross-correlating the chirp signal with a locally generated copy of itself (i.e., matched filtering). A Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) is applied to the output of this matched filtering. The FFT output is fed to a decision circuitry, where a threshold value is set to decide the minimum amplitude of utilized frequencies. This process eases sensing computational complexity and improves the quality of sensing, thereby offering enhanced cognition at the cognitive radio receiver.

Abstract: A measurement reporting method for a Closed Subscriber Group (CSG) cell and a corresponding User Equipment (UE) are provided in the present invention. The method comprises the following steps that: after detecting a neighboring accessible CSG cell which is not on a frequency in a measurement configuration, a UE in a connected state requests a network for a measurement configuration by reporting indication information which contains the frequency information of the accessible CSG cell and/or the bandwidth information of the accessible CSG cell. The present invention solves the problem about the measurement and reporting of a CSG cell by a UE, so that a network is able to make a decision in time according to a measurement report, satisfying the requirement of the UE on mobility.

  • Patent number: 8948770
Abstract: The present invention discloses a cluster head assisted method for converting a user terminal from device-to-device (D2D) communication to cellular communication. When quality of a D2D link between a user terminal and a cluster head is lower than a predetermined threshold, if the user terminal has to leave the cluster but still expects to continue an original the service, the user terminal performs cell search and random access, and establishes a radio resource control (RRC) connection with a target base station of a cellular network. Switching from D2D communication to cellular communication is implemented with the assistance of the cluster head, and a communication manner after the switching is provided. The present invention implements mobile switching from D2D communication in distributed cluster communication to cellular communication, which can reduce route search delay and save wireless resources.

Abstract: Cell relocation procedures to address handover between a macro radio network controller (RNC) and a home base station in a wireless communication network, while accounting for access control or membership verification procedures needed to support a Closed Subscriber Group (CSG) at the home base station. An example method begins with the receiving of a request for handover of the mobile terminal from an RNC of the macro wireless network. A closed subscriber group (CSG) identifier for the home base station and a cell access mode for the home base station are then sent, to a core network node associated with the macro wireless network, for use by the core network node in membership verification or access control for the mobile terminal. In response, the home base station receives a CSG membership status for the mobile terminal from the core network node.

Abstract: A graphical user interface displays a proposed site plan of one or more new base stations with respect to existing network infrastructure in a geographical region. While in the field, an installation specialist can perform an in-person survey of the geographical region to determine whether a proposed location is suitable for installation of a wireless base station. The installation specialist may identify an obstacle that would inhibit a newly proposed wireless base station from providing desired coverage if installed at the proposed location. Via input to the graphical user interface, the installation specialist proposes an alternative location in which to install the new base station. A processor performs a validity check and provides feedback indicating whether installation of the new base station at the alternative location is acceptable. The graphical user interface also can support collection of site survey data to monitor progress of the installation.
