  • Patent number: 10187188
Abstract: A method and apparatus include scanning one or more frequencies within a predetermined spectrum space designated for use by the communication network. Synchronization signals are detected on a first frequency of the scanned one or more frequencies, and a first identity value is determined from the detected synchronization signals. The method further includes receiving a first reference signal based on the determined first identity value, and receiving a broadcast channel. The broadcast channel is then decoded based on the received first reference signal, and identifying from the decoded broadcast channel a second identity value. A second reference signal is then received, based upon the first identity value and the second identity value.

Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method for a communication network that includes a picocell range expansion configuration on authorized shared access. A method may include determining, in a controller, at least one allowable maximal range expansion bias value for at least one picocell within a coverage area of a macrocell. The method may also include sending the determined allowable maximal range expansion bias value for the at least one picocell from the controller to the macrocell. A further method may include receiving at least one allowable maximal range expansion bias value for at least one picocell from a controller. The method may also include updating, by a macrocell, a range expansion bias value for each picocell within a macrocell based on the received allowable maximal range expansion bias value.

Abstract: Disclosed is a large cell base station (100) that, in cases in which the interference from small cell base stations (300) experienced by a radio terminal (200) connected to said large cell base station (100) is at or above a prescribed value, estimates a non-interference PF evaluation value for assessing whether or not the allocation of resource blocks to the radio terminal (200) is suitable when said interference is assumed to not be present. Additionally, the large cell base station (100) transmits band-use restriction information, which indicates use restrictions for the frequency bands corresponding to the resource blocks, to the small cell base stations (300) in cases in which the non-interference PF evaluation value is at or above a prescribed value.

  • Patent number: 9014706
Abstract: Overlaying a Wireless Macro Cell architecture on a Micro Cell network. WLAN MAC Address Translation (WMAT) is used to translate BSSIDs from the BSSID used to initialize a radio in an access node and identify communications between the radio in the access node and a controller, and the BSSID used over the air for Macro Cell operation. WMAT is used for transmit operations, translating the BSSID of outgoing packets to the Macro Cell BSSID prior to wireless transmission. On the receive side, packets undergo WMAT and transmission to the controller if the STN MAC address of the sender is in an ACK table associated with the radio, or the packet is one of a predetermined type. The ACK table is managed by transmit operations, and by control commands from the controller.

  • Patent number: 9008670
Abstract: A graphical user interface displays a proposed site plan of one or more new base stations with respect to existing network infrastructure in a geographical region. While in the field, an installation specialist can perform an in-person survey of the geographical region to determine whether a proposed location is suitable for installation of a wireless base station. The installation specialist may identify an obstacle that would inhibit a newly proposed wireless base station from providing desired coverage if installed at the proposed location. Via input to the graphical user interface, the installation specialist proposes an alternative location in which to install the new base station. A processor performs a validity check and provides feedback indicating whether installation of the new base station at the alternative location is acceptable. The graphical user interface also can support collection of site survey data to monitor progress of the installation.

  • Patent number: 9003038
Abstract: Applications executed out of router memory may acquire additional bandwidth that is not being used by other applications, in order to speed up network traffic. Scavenging may occur up to a point where current congestion is detected, at which point any scavenged bandwidth is relinquished and the application returns to its prescribed limit. After current congestion is mitigated, scavenging may occur up to a limit below the point where congestion was detected. After a predetermined interval, additional scavenging may occur beyond this limit until a preset bandwidth limit is reached.

  • Patent number: 8996003
Abstract: A method, terminal, system and computer readable medium for cell reselection are disclosed. When in a cell of a Long Term Evolution (LTE) system, the terminal receives a message from the LTE system. The message includes a dedicated priority list for the cell reselection. When the terminal camps on a cell of a non-LTE system, the terminal performs inter-system cell reselection in accordance with the dedicated priority list before a valid time of the dedicated priority list expires. With the discloses method, terminal and system, the problems of establishing a dedicated priority list causes too much increased signaling and too high costs for network update in the prior art when perform inter-system cell (re)selection are effectively resolved.
