  • Patent number: 12082088
Abstract: A mobile edge computing (MEC) service area can comprise radio cells/antennas connected to baseband units that are connected to service gateway (SGW) and/or packet data network gateway (PGW) user planes at a customer premises. The radio cells can be tagged with evolved universal mobile telecommunications system terrestrial radio access (E-UTRAN) cell global identifiers (EGCIs) offering traceability to user equipment (UE) that camp on them. The radio cells for MEC can be assigned tracking area codes (TACs) such that when a UE is registered and provisioned for a MEC service area based on an international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI) assigned to a subscriber identity module (SIM) of the UE, the UE can be determined to be at a geofenced area.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for determining the quality of a civic address produced by a reverse geocoder, utilizing the uncertainty of a geodetic location and a distance between the geodetic location and a geocoded location (i.e., a civic address) determined by the reverse geocoder. Upon receiving a request by a PSAP for a civic address corresponding to a UE initiating a call for emergency services, a node initially identifies a geodetic location of the UE and an uncertainty of the geodetic location. The node initiates an API call to a reverse geocoder API. The node receives a geocoded location corresponding to the geodetic location and compares the geocoded location to the geodetic location to determine a distance between them. Abstract: Various embodiments for controlling a state of an autonomous vehicle that is to meet a user are provided. A receiver receives location information indicating a current location of the user. A memory stores a plurality of states of the autonomous vehicle. Each of the states at least one of visually or audibly distinguishes the autonomous vehicle. A sensor senses an environment of the autonomous vehicle to obtain environment information. A distance from a place of meeting the user to the current location of the user is calculated based on the location information. A first state is selected in accordance with the environment information. The autonomous vehicle is caused to change from a second state to the first state when the distance from the place of meeting the user to the current location of the user becomes smaller than or equal to a predetermined distance.

  • Patent number: 11843988
Abstract: A wireless proximity detection system employs short-range wireless communication to detect the proximity of a user device within a strictly defined wireless zone and as a result trigger a desired action. The proximity detection system may utilize one or more leaky feeders to define the wireless zone and the associated received signal strength(s) detected by the user's wireless device. Alternatively, a compact planar antenna structure coupled with a highly shielded radio transceiver is used to allow a similar precise low-power radio beam to be emitted defining a small location to enable identification of a wireless device such as a smartphone in a given area in front of the device. The planar antenna structure allows a compact and low-cost fabrication method and the use of common printed circuit fabrication methods provide an integrated solution.

  • Patent number: 11838822
Abstract: This disclosure describes techniques for selecting network protocols using heatmaps. For instance, a system may receive radio frequency information from one or more sources located within an environment. The system may then generate heatmaps using the radio frequency information, where the heatmaps represent characteristics associated with different network protocols. The characteristics may include signal strengths, throughputs, data packet drop rates, data packet retry rates, and/or the like for various locations within the environment. A user device may then receive the heatmaps from the system. Using a location of the user device and the heatmaps, the user device may determine to communicate using a network protocol from the different network protocols. The user device may then establish a connection using the network protocol.

  • Patent number: 11825379
Abstract: This specification generally relates to a method and system for providing curbside pickup. In one example method, an order to be fulfilled via curbside delivery is received at a merchant, where the order is associated with a first entity. The merchant receives a notification of arrival of the first entity to or within a pre-determined area associated with the merchant, where the notification includes location information associated with the first entity. The merchant can then generate a set of directions for a second entity to travel to reach the first entity based on the location information associated with the first entity, and can present the generated set of directions to the second entity for completing the curbside delivery. The merchant can then receive a confirmation of the delivery after interactions between the second entity and the first entity at the first entity's location.

  • Patent number: 11810050
Abstract: A method for computing a quality location estimate of a delivery robot by creating an ad-hoc network that can include one or more autonomous delivery vehicles, nearby infrastructure such as 5th Generation signal transceivers, vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) enabled autonomous vehicles, and millimeter-wave device components in Line-Of-Sight (LOS) with any of the above communicating devices. The method can include estimating the quality for localization (e.g., dilution of precision), and steering the robot delivery vehicle via a vehicle-to-anything (V2X) antenna disposed on the robot delivery vehicle and/or repositioning the autonomous delivery vehicle itself to obtain maximum positioning accuracy. The location estimates computed by the vehicle are sent to the delivery robot which then fuses these estimates with its onboard sensor values. The method may assist localization based on a 2D occupancy map to enhance the positioning performance and provides robust localization mechanism without expensive 3D sensors.
