  • Patent number: 8744465
Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate resolving resource assignment conflicts between access terminals in a wireless communication environment. A first access terminal may receive a persistent, or “sticky” assignment of a set of resources, such as subcarriers. In the event that a second access terminal requires a brief resource assignment, a time-limited, or “non-sticky” resource assignment may be granted to the second access terminal. If a resource in the non-sticky assignment is already assigned to the first access terminal via the sticky assignment, the first access terminal may receive an indication of the conflict along with information related to a duration of the non-sticky assignment, may surrender the conflicted resource, and may resume control over the conflicted resource after the termination of the non-sticky assignment.

Abstract: Sensing wireless transmissions from a licensed user of a licensed spectral resource includes obtaining information indicating a number of adjacent sensors that are concurrently sensing wireless transmissions from the licensed user of the licensed spectral resource. Such information can be obtained from a main node controlling the sensor and its adjacent sensors, or by the sensor itself (e.g., by means of short-range communication equipment targeting any such adjacent sensors). A sensing rate is then determined as a function, at least in part, of the information indicating the number of adjacent sensors that are concurrently sensing wireless transmissions from the licensed user of the licensed spectral resource. Abstract: A service providing apparatus, a service consuming apparatus, and a service transmitting method are provided. The service providing apparatus is adapted to connect with the service consuming apparatus via a wireless network. Within a control channel period, the service providing apparatus schedules the services with the service consuming apparatus. Within a service channel period, the service providing apparatus provides a service resource to the service consuming apparatus according to the result of scheduling the services. If the service consuming apparatus does not send a service request signal to the service providing apparatus within the control channel period, the service consuming apparatus has to remain silent within the service control channel. By the arrangement, the problems caused from the characteristic of the link asymmetry of the wireless network can be solved.

  • Patent number: 8611941
Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate efficient power control command management in a wireless communication environment. As described herein, techniques can be utilized by a Node B and/or other network access point to compensate for differences between uplink slot boundaries and a power control command combining period associated with the uplink slot. For example, the timing of Transmitter Power Control (TPC) bit transmission can be altered as described herein such that, if a given cell or cell sector is associated with a radio link set of size 2 or greater and a TPC timing offset of size 2 or less, TPC command information can be buffered and/or otherwise delayed to a slot following the slot in which corresponding channel measurements are obtained in order to prevent efficiency loss associated with combining TPC bits of inverse polarity corresponding to multiple disparate slots.

Abstract: On the mobile communication terminal 100 side, when the VOIP communication application stored in the storage unit 104 is activated in accordance with an instruction from the user (step S101), the application activation judging unit 107a judges that the VOIP communication application has been activated. Upon the judgment, the control unit 107 selects a cycle (for example, 1.152 seconds: code F10) that is shorter than 5.152 seconds, generates an EISP signal based on the selection, and transmits the generated EISP signal to the base station 200 via the transmission unit 102 (step S102). After this, upon receiving an ACK signal, the control unit 107 starts to activate the reception unit 103 at the cycle of 1.152 seconds to receive the report signal at the cycle of 1.152 seconds (step S105).

  • Patent number: 8599764
Abstract: Techniques for transmitting overhead information to facilitate efficient reception of individual data streams are described. A base station may transmit multiple data streams on multiple data channels (or MLCs). The MLCs may be transmitted at different times and on different frequency subbands. The time-frequency location of each MLC may change over time. The overhead information indicates the time-frequency location of each MLC and may be sent as “composite” and “embedded” overhead information. The composite overhead information indicates the time-frequency locations of all MLCs and is sent periodically in each super-frame. A wireless device receives the composite overhead information, determines the time-frequency location of each MLC of interest, and receives each MLC at the indicated time-frequency location.

Abstract: A base station device is provided with a receiver, an interference comparator, an allocation unit, and a transmitter. The receiver receives an interference parameter indicating a level of interference of the first mobile station with the second mobile station. The interference comparator compares the interference parameter with a predetermined interference threshold value. The allocation unit allocates a communication band to the first mobile station such that the probability that the first band will be allocated to the first mobile station becomes larger than the probability that the second band will be allocated to the first mobile station when a level of interference represented by the interference parameter is larger than a level of interference represented by the interference threshold value. The transmitter transmits information of an allocated band to the first mobile station.

  • Patent number: 8588152
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for using the EV-DO Reverse Activity Bit (RAB) to dynamically configure parameters of the EV-DO DRC channel. In an embodiment, an access terminal maintains at least two different DRCLength values in data storage. The access terminal periodically transmits DRC data to an access network on the DRC channel. The DRC data comprises a DRC cover and a DRC value. The access terminal uses the DRC cover to select a serving sector, and the access terminal uses the DRC value to request a forward-link data rate. The access terminal periodically receives from an access node in the access network a RAB having a state that is either set or cleared. The access terminal selects one of the maintained DRCLength values based at least in part on the state of the RAB, and subsequently transmits DRC data according to the selected DRCLength value.

Abstract: Reducing power consumption and interference in wireless communication is provided. For example, in one embodiment, a method is provided that listens for radio frequency (“RF”) activity on a receiver utilizing a first receiver antenna. When no RF activity is detected the receiver is switched “on” and a command is transmitted. If a reply to the transmission is not received the receiver is turned “off.” After an expiration of time, the receiver is again switched “on” and another command is transmitted on a second antenna coupled to the receiver. Thereafter, if a reply is not received the receiver is again turned “off.” Embodiments of the invention also include other methods, computer-readable mediums, apparatuses, and systems that contain features similar to the features in the above described method.
