  • Patent number: 8817683
Abstract: In a network relay router 10, a multicast routing protocol processing module 11A sequentially sends a join request message (CP1) to a router 30a functioning as a rendezvous point via an interface 101, based on the settings of a multicast group address or destination address and a sender VRF name. The network relay router 10 receives a multicast packet (DP1) from the router 30a via the interface 101 and acquires a sender address or source address of a transmission device SE from the received multicast packet. The network relay router 10 sends a join request message (CP2) via an interface 102 on the side of the transmission device SE and receives a multicast packet via the interface 102. This establishes an optimum multicast route (MR) between the transmission device SE and the network relay router 10.

  • Patent number: 8811586
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for arranging a conference call with mobile terminals operating in a cellular network. At first, a group of the participants of the conference call is formed either by selecting the participants from a list saved in the memory of the mobile terminal in by inputting the contract information of the participants manually. In the next step, a summons to the conference call is drawn up in standard form. An application loaded into the memory of the convener's mobile terminal forms the summons, and sends the summons to the particulars via the cellular network. When a participant wants to join a conference call, he/she makes a call with the mobile terminal to the telephone number mentioned in the summons. An application in the mobile terminal of the convener receives the incoming calls and joins them to the conference call automatically.

  • Publication number: 20140228068
Abstract: A system and method for a server to provide an early notification to a target group devices when paging a wireless device during a push-to-talk (PTT) communication. When a wireless device is ready to transmit a PTT communication, a message is sent from the wireless device to a server that then sends an early PING message to a base station while processing a call request message from the wireless device. After processing the call request message, the server sends an announce message to the base station. On receipt of the PING message, the base station sends a paging message to all targeted devices while processing the announce message. The early PING message causes a communication channel to be established between a targeted device and the base station, and the communication channel can then be used by the announce message with less set-up time.

  • Patent number: 8787357
Abstract: A system provides push-to-talk (PTT) or similar communication service via a radio access network providing wireless mobile packet data communications for mobile stations. A server distributes packets of digitized audio received from a broadcasting mobile station to one or more client devices of other parties. The called client device(s), however, may not all have the same communications capabilities as the broadcasting mobile station. Signaling procedures are adapted to inform the broadcasting station of the capabilities of the other client device(s). This enables the broadcasting mobile station to configure its transmissions of digitized audio through the network for compatibility with the capabilities of the other client device(s). Proper configuration avoids loss of data at the destination, particularly at the start of a PTT transmission, due to transmission in a form or configuration that may be incompatible with one or more of the receiving stations.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for transmitting push-to-talk (PTT) communications through multicast channels to a plurality of wireless devices. The PTT server uses the unicast approach to deliver the PTT communication to a group of PTT clients when it does not have the location information of the PTT clients in the group. In one embodiment, the wireless devices report their location to a PTT server after receiving a PTT communication for a group and a timer is started. The wireless devices continue to report their location when moving from an area served by one base station to an area served by another before the timer expires. The PTT server also starts the timer for that PTT group with the same value after initiating the PTT group communication. The PTT server uses the location information to determine if multicast channels can be used when transmitting PTT communications to the wireless devices.
