Wireless Private Branch Exchange (pbx) (i.e., Wireless Link To Extension Unit) Patents (Class 455/555)
  • Patent number: 11968575
Abstract: The disclosure provides data transmission methods and apparatuses. One example method includes when the terminal device needs to perform the cross-network movement, the terminal device sends a message to a network element of a network accessed by the terminal device, to notify that the terminal device is to perform the cross-network movement from a source network to a target network. Therefore, during the movement of the terminal device, a network side pauses transmission of user plane data of the terminal device, and buffers data that is not sent before the terminal device performs the cross-network movement. After accessing the target network, the network side sends the buffered data to the terminal device.

Abstract: Concepts and technologies provided herein can provide high-definition voice for fixed mobile convergence on mobile and wireline networks. A processor executing instructions can detect a call request associated with a called telephone number to setup a call session, where the call request is initiated from a calling device associated with an originating network. The processor can determine a call path for the call session from the originating network to a receiving network. The processor can create a fixed mobile convergence request to alert an electronic number mapping system of the call path for the call session from the originating network to the receiving network. The electronic number mapping system can provide a network presence map identifying a plurality of call receiving devices associated with the called telephone number that are available to participate in the call session via the receiving network.

  • Patent number: 8738076
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for originating a call to a wireless number by a contact center while enforcing various compliance requirements. In one embodiment, a compliance server and a PBX cooperate to originate the call to the wireless number. The agent logs into the compliance server and the compliance server provides the agent with a wireless number to dial. The agent manually enters the wireless number using a phone connected to the PBX. The PBX queries the compliance server regarding establishing the wireless call. Upon authorization, the PBX establishes a first call leg to the compliance server, and a second call leg to the called party that is joined with the call leg to the agent's phone. Upon completion of the call, the agent dispositions the call to the compliance server, which then releases the first call leg. In response, the PBX then releases the second call leg.

Abstract: Extending dual-mode phones using SMS messages. When operating in cellular mode, SMS messages originated by a mobility controller in the enterprise command features such as indicators on the dual-mode phone. SMS messages are received by an agent in the dual-mode phone. A mobility controller connected to the enterprise SIP PBX and voicemail system receives messages for example indicating voicemail status and sends specially formatted SMS messages to the cellular phone to operate indicators. Similarly, the dual-mode phone issues SMS messages to the enterprise mobility controller to request the enterprise PBX perform features such as call conferencing, call pickup, and call pull.

  • Patent number: 8693877
Abstract: Apparatuses and methods to detect and emit various infrared (IR) and ambient light signals using an integrated sensor and emitter device. Embodiments include a sensor to sense proximity, to sense IR data signals, and to sense ambient light; and an emitter of an IR proximity signal. The sensor detects the IR proximity signal from the emitter when the apparatus is sensing proximity, detects IR data signals when the apparatus is detecting IR data, and detects ambient light when the apparatus sensing light. The IR data signals may include IR remote control (IR RC) and/or IR data association (IRDA) signals. The signals may be detected simultaneously and may be in different frequency bands. According to embodiments, such an emitter may also emit an IR data signals, such as IR RC and/or IRDA signals. These signals may be emitted simultaneously and may be in different frequency bands.

  • Patent number: 8676259
Abstract: A wireless communications interface couples wireless service to conventional wireline phone appliances. In one embodiment, the wireless communications interface is connected to the phone appliances through existing phone jacks. This allows a user to place and receive calls over a wireless network using the existing wireline infrastructure in a building. By using the invention, users can consolidate their portable and fixed phone service with one of the multiple wireless service providers and bypass the wireline service provider entirely, if so desired. In a second embodiment, the wireless communications interface is directly connected to the phone appliances, bypassing the installed wireline infrastructure. In a third embodiment, both wireline and wireless service are operative, and the wireless communications interface may include logic arbitration to route multiple calls to multiple phone appliances.

  • Patent number: 8676179
Abstract: A system and method for providing identifying information about the source of an incoming communication to a mobile device is provided. An incoming communication is received by an enterprise network and a connection is established to the mobile device. A DTMF message is sent to the mobile device by the enterprise network. If the source of the incoming communication has an enterprise-assigned number then the DTMF message comprises an identifying key corresponding to the key field of a profile list comprising enterprise-assigned numbers and an identifying information entry for each enterprise-assigned number in the list. If the source of the incoming communication does not have an enterprise-assigned number, the DTMF message comprises an identifying number for the source of the incoming communication. If DTMF is not available on the mobile device, similar logic may be employed using, for example, ANI manipulation.

Abstract: A call placed by a mobile device may be routed to landline destinations using cost-sensitive routing techniques. The call may be routed based on whether it is an intra-MTA (major trade area) or inter-MTA call. In one implementation, a device may receive message initiating a call and determine the MTA of the calling party based on a cell/sector identifier in the message. The device may further determine the MTA of the called party based on the called telephone number. The device may route the call based on whether the MTA of the calling party matches the MTA of the called party.

  • Patent number: 8619956
Abstract: A telecommunications system is disclosed that enables a user to pair a desk set that is an extension of a private-branch exchange with a cell phone that is accessible via the Public Switched Telephone Network. One feature of the telecommunications system enables an active call that is between the desk set and another party, to be transferred to the user's cell phone, while in the presence of third-party call control. This is advantageous because a user who is initially on a call at her desk set, but needs to get somewhere else (e.g., a meeting, the airport, home, etc.), is able to continue the call by transferring it to her cell phone. The third-party call control can be part of a computer-telephony integration (CTI) application—for example, in a telephone telemarketing center, which concurrently handles many active telephone calls.

  • Patent number: 8605714
Abstract: Embodiments of a network element and method of establishing an internet-protocol communications session between a first device and a second device and generally described herein. In some embodiments, the network element is configured to receive a request from the first device to invite the second device to participate in an IP communications session. The second device may be identified in the request by a network identifier. The network element may relate the network identifier to a mobile IP (MIP) address of the second device and a second IP address. The network element may send an invitation to the MIP address of the second device. The invitation may include a MIP address of the first device and a first IP address. The first device establishes an IP connection for an IP communications session with the second device using the MIP address of the second device and the second IP address.

  • Patent number: 8606256
Abstract: In a method of processing an incoming sequence of one or more DTMF tones at a mobile device, the sequence is decoded to thereby identify any encoded message. Where the decoding does not identify a message, at least applying an error correction algorithm to the sequence to identify a message. Where the algorithm fails to correct the sequence, the sequence is compared to messages currently expected by the mobile device. If a message is not identified, a negative acknowledgement message may be sent. At a server, upon receipt of a negative acknowledgement message, it is determined if a message was sent to the mobile device in a previous pre-determined time window. If so, the message is re-sent. The server repeatedly sends certain messages to a mobile device until an acknowledgement message indicating receipt of the message by the mobile device is received.
