  • Patent number: 9041513
Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for communicating with sensors/loggers in integrated radio frequency identification (RFID) tags. An RFID reader uses a Communicate With Data Logger Command to communicate with a data logger in an RFID tag. The RFID reader performs data access processes using an Index Register and a Data Register of the RFID tag. The RFID reader selects one of (1) Index Read access (2) Index Write access (3) Data Write access (4) Data Read access with parity and (5) Data Read access with cyclic redundancy check (CRC). The RFID tag performs the requested data access and then performs an error detection process.

Abstract: A mobile unit includes a handset and a removable storage module having a unique storage module identity, for storing information specific to a user, including an Internet Protocol (IP) address. Additional information regarding a Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) and International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) which uniquely identifies the subscriber is also stored in the removable storage module. Upon successfully camping on a cell of a mobile network, the IP address is forwarded to an IP-based network capable of communicating with the mobile unit. In an alternate embodiment, the mobile unit has multi-network capabilities which allow it to communicate with an IP-based network and a cellular network at the same time. In another embodiment, existing cellular network services for the mobile unit having multi-network capabilities are routed through the IP-based network.

  • Patent number: 9037193
Abstract: A method for switching between first and second logical UICCs in the same physical UICC. Each logical UICC has an area for storing overlapped volatile data and an area for storing overlapped persistent data. The physical UICC also has an OS area. When a switch order is received to switch from the first logical UICC to the second logical UICC. Overlapped volatile data from the OS area is backed up to the area for storing overlapped volatile data of the first logical UICC. Overlapped persistent data from the OS area is backed up to the area for storing overlapped persistent data of the first logical UICC. Volatile data from the area for storing overlapped volatile data from the second logical UICC is restored to the OS area. Persistent data from the area for storing overlapped persistent data from the second logical UICC is restored to the OS area.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to caching SIM files at a baseband processor to reduce cellular bootup time. According to one embodiment, a wireless device may read SIM files from a SIM and store a local copy of each file in a cache of the baseband processor of the wireless device. SIM identification information for the SIM from which the cached files were read may be associated with the cache. Indicator information usable for comparing file versions may also be generated and stored in the cache for each file. Upon a subsequent SIM initialization, the wireless device may read SIM files from the cache instead of from the initialized SIM if the cached version is identical to the SIM version, which may be determined based at least in part on the SIM identification information and the indicator information for such files.
