Abstract: When an image transmitter and a mobile phone are connected, it is determined whether or not a connection (communication) is established between a communication section and the mobile phone. If it is determined that the connection is established, the image transmitter transmits to the mobile phone a signal to request the mobile phone to obtain identification information given to the mobile phone. The image transmitter determines whether or not pre-stored identification information in the storage unit and the obtained identification information match. If it is determined that the identification information matches, the image transmitter reads image data stored in the storage unit and transmits the image data to the mobile phone.

Abstract: The pulse-shaping look-up table with transient suppression (530) avoids hard turn-on and turn-off transients by modifying word segments of initial and final digital words during transmission of a digital data sequence. A controller (570) sends a mode signal and a digital data sequence to the pulse-shaping look-up table with transient suppression (530). A mode buffer and command block (560) uses the mode signal to control the creation of initial and final digital words created by a data buffer and control block (550) from the digital data sequence. The digital words are used by a look-up table (540) to create a sampled digital output waveform sequence. The pulse-shaping look-up table with transient suppression (530) provides an accurate output waveform sequence with reduced spectral emissions even during start-up and shut-down of digital data transmissions.

Abstract: A portable FM stereo RF transmitter having an audio plug extending therefrom directly or via a cable and which mates with the earphone or output jack of an audio source such as a portable battery operated CD or tape player and having no external antenna. The portable RF transmitter modulates audio signals from the audio source onto an FM carrier and transmits them to an FM receiver mounted on a headset worn by a user. The RF transmitter uses its own ground circuit and the ground circuit of the audio source as two elements of a short dipole. The two ground circuits are electrically isolated at RF by an RF choke but connected together at audio frequencies by the low impedance of the choke at audio. The choke's leakage inductance also reduces the capacitive reactance of the dipole antenna for better power dissipation. A transformer coupling the RF output to the dipole transforms the impedance of the dipole to a value closer to the output impedance of the RF transmitter.

  • Patent number: 6530027
Abstract: A portable electronic device and method manage battery-produced power without lowering sound quality for music and other sound effects. In the present invention, an operation clock of the CPU of the portable electronic device and a processing wait time for image drawing are dynamically controlled. When there is no sound emission request, the CPU runs at a low clock rate. Where there is a sound emission request, the CPU runs at a high clock speed. When the sound emission ends, the CPU returns to the low clock rate. A user senses no apparent change, as the CPU slows screen drawing speed at high clock speed and increases screen drawing speed at low clock speed.

  • Patent number: 6526265
Abstract: A transmitter for a wireless handset having a modified translation loop architecture. The transmitter includes a VCO that generates a modulated transmit signal having a frequency fTx, and a modulated signal source that generates a modulated LO signal with a frequency fLO. A mixer mixes the transmit signal with the LO signal to produce an IF signal having a frequency fIF. A first divider divides the LO signal frequency fLO by an integer M to generate a first comparison signal having a frequency fCF. A second divider divides the IF signal frequency fIF, after it is multiplied by an integer K, by an integer N to generate a second comparison signal having a frequency fCF.

  • Patent number: 6516198
Abstract: An audio coupling is provided between a location reporting unit and the microphone of a wireless phone in which location information is provided either by synthesized voice and/or DTMF tones through the audio coupling to the microphone such that the location of the wireless phone can be broadcast on the normal voice channel to a dispatch operation such as a Public Safety Answering Point or to a location-based service provider. The subject interface makes possible the adaptation of any wireless phone to provide location-based information without change to the wireless phone and without any additional infrastructure for the wireless network. The utilization of synthesized speech and/or DTMF tones over the voice channel provides a universality for the system, which can be utilized anywhere where there is both wireless and GPS satellite coverage.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for conserving energy in a battery powered tag which comprises a battery, one or more sensors, and a transmitter. Preferably, the tag is used in a pneumatic tire monitoring system which senses and transmits tire pressure and temperature readings. The method fundamentally comprises: hibernating between transmissions by the transmitter; and reading at least one of the sensors after each of a plurality of sleep periods while hibernating. Additionally, the sensors, and an analog-to-digital converter if present, can be enabled after each sleep period but before reading the sensors, and disabled again after reading. Along with reading the sensors, the battery may be tested to determine battery energy level after a specified number of sleep periods.

  • Patent number: 6470197
Abstract: A headset control system for operating a microcontroller based device includes a microphone, a first and a second speaker, and a user operated switch. The switch selectively disables said first speaker in a first state or said microphone in a second state. A momentary switch creates patterns of momentary switching from one of a first, a second and a third state to at least one other state and back. A switch detector comprises a plurality of comparators to implement threshold logic and produces a signal indicating the respective states of said user-operated switch and said momentary switching means. A microcontroller responsive to said switch detector includes a means to differentiate between different switching patterns of said momentary switching means and initiates respective function as a function of a pattern of momentary switching and state of said user-operated switch and current operational mode.

  • Patent number: 6417780
Abstract: A radio control device is provided that has the D/R function wherein the rate can be switched by a simple operation without impairing the operability of a stick. The adjustment value (rate) determining a relationship between stick operation amount and servo motor operation amount is switched at the changeover point arbitrarily set within a range of stick operation amounts. The rate 1 is 100% while the rate 2 is 60%. The point 1 is set to the position corresponding to about 65% of the maximum value of the stick operation amount in the right direction (or down direction). The point 2 is set to the position corresponding to about 85% of the maximum value of the stick operation amount in the left direction (or up direction). In the rate 2, the rudder does not effectively work over the range where the operation amount of the stick is relatively small. When the adjustment value exceeds the point, the mode enters the rate 1, so that the rudder works effectively.

  • Patent number: 6337975
Abstract: A system and method for controlling transmitted output power of hand held wireless devices used with external antenna units. Transmit power of information signals is controlled in the hand held device by obtaining design specification parameters of the antenna unit, which includes an output power measurement of the information signal transmitting from the antenna unit, which may also be referred to as an outdoor unit. The output power measurement is used by the hand held device, to adjust the power of the transmitted information signal. The output power measurement is determined in the antenna unit by obtaining a digital output power measurement, modulating the power measurement, and transmitting the modulated measurement signal to the hand held device. The modulated measurement signal is received by a cradle supporting the hand held device, or the device itself and demodulated. The hand held device uses the measurement to adjust the transmit power of the information signal.
