Including Particular Roll Construction Patents (Class 460/31)
  • Patent number: 11129332
Abstract: A corn harvester includes a first stalk roll having a plurality of first blades circumferentially spaced apart by a first angle. A second stalk roll has a plurality of second blades circumferentially spaced apart by a second angle. The first and second stalk rolls are rotatable about parallel first and second axes that are separated by a centerline therebetween. In an operational state when a tip of one first blade is aligned with the centerline, a tip of one second blade is angularly offset from the centerline by a third angle. The third angle is less than 45% of the second angle. The one first blade forms a cross section perpendicular to the first axis having an altitude extending from the tip toward the first axis along a first blade altitude. The cross section of the one first blade is asymmetric about the first blade altitude.

  • Patent number: 10820512
Abstract: A stalk roll mountable to a header of an agricultural combine for rotation about a rotation axis during processing of plant stalks has an annular drum with detachable blades. The stack roll has a plurality of circumferentially spaced flutes extending in an axial direction of the rotation axis of the drum and projecting radially outwardly from the drum. The flutes define mounting surfaces along lengths of the flutes. A plurality of blades are attachable to the drum with multiple of the plurality of blades being attachable to the mounting surface of a common one of the flutes. Mounting hardware is configured to removably connect the blades to the mounting surfaces of the flutes.

  • Patent number: 9788487
Abstract: A deck plate of a corn header row unit capable of reducing grain loss is provided. The deck plate includes forward and rear ends, a top surface, a medial side having a depending portion, and a mounting side opposite the medial side for connecting to a portion of the row unit. Structures are positioned about the top surface spaced from the medial side and configured to inhibit a flow of grain. The structures can be formed as one or more of a variety of shapes that include corrugations, ribs, recesses or protrusions.

  • Patent number: 5404699
Abstract: A stalk roll comprises a cylindrical shell having six integral flutes. Each flute is provided with a knife edge having a leading surface and a trailing surface. The leading surface has a forward slope of approximately 10.degree. from the plane formed by the central longitudinal axis of the cylindrical shell and the vertex of the respective knife edge. The trailing surface has a reverse slope of approximately 30.degree. from the plane formed by the central longitudinal axis of the cylindrical shell and the vertex of the respective knife edge. The cylindrical shell comprises two semi-cylindrical pieces that are clamped about a drive shaft of a corn harvesting head by associated bolts.
