  • Patent number: 7584663
Abstract: A method of determining the content of a desired component in a stream of material including two or more types of component, includes causing or permitting a stream of a plurality of particles of material to impact a sensor member located in a path of the material thereby inducing vibration of the sensor member, analyzing vibrations of the sensor member and from the analysis determining whether individual impacts caused by the stream are one of any two or more types selected from three possible impact types, and performing an operation based on the result of the analysis.

  • Publication number: 20090137295
Abstract: A combine harvester for corn is adjusted so that the threshing system maintains the grain and cobs together and there is provided a first sieve to separate the grain and cobs from residue material which is discharged from a rear of the first sieve and a second sieve to separate the grain which passes through the second sieve from the cobs which are discharged from a rear end of the second sieve. The grain is transferred to a clean grain tank and the cobs are conveyed to a tank on a towed cart.

  • Patent number: 6463845
Abstract: A preferred device for making cream-style corn includes a corn-receiving member and a blade member. The corn-receiving member incorporates a first open end and defines an interior that is configured to receive at least a portion of an ear of corn. The blade member includes a blade that is movably mounted within the interior so as to be movable between a retracted position and an extended position. In the extended position, the blade is configured to engage an ear of corn inserted into the interior of the corn-receiving member so that, as the ear of corn is rotated about its longitudinal axis, the blade tears open individual kernels of the ear of corn and allows liquid and fibrous contents of the kernels to drain into the corn-receiving member. Systems and methods also are provided.

  • Patent number: 6458030
Abstract: A rotary threshing and separation unit, comprising a rotor housing with a feeding zone, a separation zone and a discharge zone, parts of the circumferential housing being closed and other parts having openings, a rotary driven threshing and separation rotor arranged in the rotor housing, beater plates fixed on the threshing and separation rotor, and sucking air flow stream generating device sucking an air flow stream from the discharge zone through the rotor housing. Guiding elements arranged in the discharge zone, which are projecting over the inner surface of the rotor housing to an extent to which they allow chaff to be sucked out of the rotor housing but retain grain kernels inside. Helical vanes in at least the first half of the length of the rotor housing are projecting over the inner surface of the rotor housing and are at an angle or inclined towards the feeding direction of the harvested crop to support the feeding action.

  • Patent number: 6305276
Abstract: An apparatus for cutting kernels of fresh corn from ears thereof and recovering kernels and cream therefrom for eating or preserving for future eating. The apparatus comprises a hand-held electric drill having a drill bit adapted to grip the ear at its stalk-end while the drill rotates the ear about the axis of the drill while pressing the ear into cutting tube having screw points projecting inwardly thereof causing said kernels to be ripped from the ear and discharged along with corn cream downwardly by gravity into a receiver for further processing.

  • Patent number: 6176778
Abstract: Harvested grain in the form of including ears, pods to be threshed are transported axially into an inclined threshing zone. Grain is liberated and falls through a sieve forming a bottom of the threshing zone. Most of the lightweight material or chaff is carried to an exit by a fan generated airflow stream. Grain and some chaff falling through the sieve are collected in a trough below the sieve. A fan generated auxiliary airflow stream carries most of the remaining chaff to the exit. The larger portion of the grain slides down the trough to exit. The balance of the grain with virtually no entrained chaff exits the trough via an auxiliary grain exit. Transverse baffles, in tandem, opposing relationship, cause airflow to be circuitous to promote grain in preference to chaff to enter the exit. A final cleaning step may be performed in a cleaning apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5839954
Abstract: A system for processing freshly picked ears of sweet corn in the field. In the preferred embodiment, a portable, towable processing machine having an on-board hydraulic power system includes a hopper for receiving whole ears, a husking bed for removing the husks, a bucket elevator for raising the husked ears to an upper level, a plurality of kernel cutting machines for cutting kernels from the ears, scalping beds for separating cut kernels from cutting debris, and a hopper for receiving and storing the cut corn and for delivering it to another vehicle or receptacle. The ears and kernels are moved through the machine by an integrated system of conveyors and bucket elevators. The conveyors and the cutting machines are so arranged that a stream of ears is recirculated past entrances to the machines, which are arranged in parallel flow so that any ear may be presented for kernel removal to any cutting machine. Ears enter the first available cutting machine they encounter.
