In one configuration the wireless network adopts a packet based communication protocol with transmit and receive processing layers. To achieve improved communication performance and reliability the transmitter may operate at about 2.4 GHz transmit frequency and adopt FSK type coding. In one embodiment a concentrator connects via a wireless or hardwired connection to a main server or hardwired LAN to thereby serve as a main hub to facilitate communication between a plurality of gaming devices and the server.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 2000Date of Patent: October 28, 2003Assignee: IGTInventor: Hardy Lee Crumby

Patent number: 6634947Abstract: A video game system includes a video game machine and a controller connected thereto, wherein the game machine is further connected with a display device. A video-game memory medium, detachably attached to the game machine, generates image data for displaying a player object, a plurality of courses, and objects other than the player object. A player chooses a course of play by operating the controller. A score-giving condition is detected according to a relation of the player object to another object. Depending on the detection, a first score is counted for the course. When the player object comes under a condition satisfying a course clear, the first score is memorized in a score-register area of a RAM. If the user chooses to play a same course, an initial value is written to the score-register area.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2000Date of Patent: October 21, 2003Assignee: Nintendo Co., Ltd.Inventors: Shigeru Miyamoto, Takao Shimizu, Takaya Imamura, Kazuaki Morita, Tsuyoshi Kihara

Publication number: 20030171147Abstract: A system and a method for providing an interface to and customizing an interactive application for one or more players. The interactive game of the presently preferred embodiment is played in a wireless environment using a mobile station as a user interface. The game is tracked and controlled using a game center and a game server. The game server is typically at a location remote from the mobile station. Moreover, communication between the game server and the mobile station is typically performed using a base station connected to a telecommunications network. The game server executes a software application which runs a game center. Individual games are managed within the context of this application. In the presently preferred embodiment, the games are text based. A command set is provided for each state of the within the game. The choice of a command from the command set changes the game state.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 13, 2003Publication date: September 11, 2003Inventors: Matthew Frazer Sinclair, Paul David Schulz, Kenneth Bo Larsen

Publication number: 20030162593Abstract: A gaming machine may be activated by an individual player for subsequent play by displaying to the gaming machine, without physical contact with the gaming machine, a card carried by the player. The card carries indicia which may include suitable electronic memory, to be sensed by apparatus associated with the gaming machine, to cause the wireless transfer of individualized data concerning the player from the card to the gaming machine or to a computer network that is associated with the gaming machine. The data is evaluated against a stored database, which database may include identification of the card holder. The data is then evaluated against the stored database, and the gaming machine is activated for subsequent play upon favorable evaluation of the data.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 27, 2002Publication date: August 28, 2003Inventor: Chauncey W.
