Swing Patents (Class 472/118)
  • Patent number: 6123480
Abstract: A device (10) for preventing a swing from being wrapped over a crossbar (18) of a swing set includes a base (12) and a sleeve (14) rotatably carried by the base (12). The base (12) includes a pair of collars (20) that each have a seat portion (22) bounded by a shoulder (26) at one edge. The collars (20) are attached to the crossbar (18) so that the seat portions (22) abut and cooperate to form a seat (42) that is bounded by the shoulders (26). The sleeve (14) rides on the seat (42) between the shoulders (26). The sleeve (14) is non-concentric and includes a tab (60) that angularly extends radially outwardly from the sleeve (14). The tab (60) has a hole (62) that accepts a bolt (64) that connects a chain (16) of the swing to the device (10).

  • Patent number: 6086481
Abstract: A connector for a swing fixed on a frame rod and a swing arm of a swing includes a bearing, two protective covers and a connecting member which has a rectangular horizontal hollow portion for the frame rod to extend therein, and two vertical parallel ears extending down from the horizontal portion. The bearing is sandwiched within round portions of the two covers placed between the two ears and pivotally connected with a pivot pin passing through the ears, the round portions of the covers and the bearing. Each cover has a lower rectangular portion extending down from the round portion to fit around and secured with an upper end of a swing arm so that the swing arm may swing together about the covers with the pivot pin. Thus the connectors permit the swing arms to swing smoothly with little friction, thereby lessening wear of the components.

  • Patent number: 6027409
Abstract: A seat recline mechanism for an infant swing is shown that provides adjustment of the inclination of the seat with respect to a single swing arm. The seat recline mechanism includes a pivot pin that is mounted in the lower end of the swing arm. The seat is pivotally mounted on the swing arm by the pivot pin. The seat can be secured in the reclined or upright position by spring-biased locking pins or protrusions extending out from sides of the swing arm, with the locking pins snapping into apertures located in one of two or more angular positions on a U-shaped sleeve protruding from the seat back. The seat can be converted between an upright position and an inclined position by depressing the spring-biased locking pins or buttons in order to disengage the swing arm from one angular position relative to the seat, thus allowing the seat to rotate about its pivot axis relative to the swing arm until the spring-biased buttons snap into apertures corresponding to a different angular position.

A movable sitting board is coupled to the fixed board and has an arcuate slide bar, engaging with the guide pipe of the fixed board, and a support bar. The support bar is pivoted to the fixing pipe of the fixed board by a pivot pin. The length ratio of the opposed portions of the support bar about its moment action point is about 2:3.

Abstract: A passenger car sized pendulum is supported by a moving pivot point. The moving pivot point is forced horizontally by the angular movement of the pendulum. By resisting the horizontal force the angular movement of the pendulum is reduced. The preferred embodiment for resisting the horizontal force is a parallelogram assembly supporting a horizontal support platform. The parallelogram assembly has a damping cylinder resisting the horizontal force.

Abstract: An infant swing assembly has a stabilizer for immobilizing the seat during placement of a child therein and removal therefrom. The stabilizer has at least one connector, preferably a pair of collinearly spaced ring connectors, for pivotally attaching to the hanger of the swing assembly. The stabilizer has an engaging portion, preferably a hook which can be engaged with the leg of the swing assembly to immobilize the seat. The stabilizer can be pivoted downward and positioned adjacent the side of the seat where the stabilizer cannot engage with the leg thus permitting the seat to freely swing and laterally outwardly where the stabilizer is able to engage with the leg.
