Abstract: Embodiments of golf club heads and methods to manufacture golf club heads are generally described herein. In one example, a golf club head may include a body portion having an interior cavity, a front portion, a back portion, a toe portion, a heel portion, a sole portion, and a top portion. A face portion is attached to the front portion to enclose the interior cavity. The golf club head may further include a port on the body portion that is connected to the interior cavity. A first mass portion may be coupled to the body portion such that the port is configured to receive the first mass portion to close the port. A second mass portion may be coupled to the body portion and include a different material than a material of the first mass portion. The maximum width of the interior cavity may be below a horizontal midplane of the body portion and above the port. The interior cavity may be at least partially filled with a filler material from the port.

Abstract: Examples of golf club heads and methods to manufacture golf club heads are generally described herein. In one example, a top portion of a golf club head includes an alignment aid having a first plurality of strip portions and a second plurality of strip portions bounded by a virtual outline. The first plurality of strip portions have different surface areas. The second plurality of strip portions have different surface areas. The first plurality of strip portions and the second plurality of strip portions touch or border upon the virtual outline. The first plurality of strip portions are spaced apart in a rear-to-front direction of the golf club head and are ordered by decreasing surface area. The second plurality of strip portions are spaced apart in the rear-to-front direction and are ordered by decreasing surface area. Other examples and examples may be described and claimed.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to an alignment aid for a golf club. The alignment aid provides a golf club with one or more markings on or adjacent the hosel of the golf club, and can be used by the golfer to achieve a proper alignment. In particular, the alignment aid may include at least two markings, each of which can be used by the golfer to assist the golfer in achieving the proper alignment corresponding to a desired type of golf shot. As an example, the golfer may use one marking to achieve a proper alignment for a pitch shot, and the golfer may use another marking to achieve a proper alignment for a bunker shot.

Abstract: Aspects of the invention are directed to golf club having a crown, a sole, a face, and a primary alignment feature hard tooled into the golf club head. In some embodiments the golf club has a primary alignment feature comprising a line delineating a transition between at least a portion of the crown having an area of contrasting shade or color with a shade or color of the face. The primary alignment feature is hard tooled into the golf club head with the face of the golf club body.

Abstract: Disclosed golf club heads include a body defining an interior cavity, a face, a sole, a crown, a skirt, and a hosel. Some embodiments include one or more of a split mass pad and/or one or more weight ports positioned in a sole portion of the body. Additionally or alternatively, one or more mass pads or weight ports may be positioned adjacent to the periphery of the sole portion. The weights can be located directly within the pocket and the pocket sealed or held within a satchel, the satchel removably disposed within the pocket.

Abstract: Golf club heads include white diffusing top surfaces to aid in club head alignment. Wood type club heads also include a dark diffusing club face so that a crown/face border is emphasized. Scorelines in wood type clubs can be provided with an intermediate contrast surface, and can be displaced from club face center to accommodate player perception when confronted with a white diffusing crown. Putter heads can include dark diffusing alignment lines, and iron-type club heads can include white diffusing surfaces at a sole portion of a club face, at a top line, or a top portion of a club face.

Abstract: A golf club set according to the present invention is constituted by a plurality of golf clubs having different loft angles, each of the golf clubs has a shaft and a golf club head, and each of the golf club heads have a crown part, a face part, a sole part, and a hosel part to which the shaft is attached. In the face part, an upper edge line that is a boundary with the crown part curves so as to protrude upward, and, out of the plurality of golf clubs, at least a pair of a first golf club having a lower loft angle and a second golf club having a higher loft angle are configured such that, in a reference state, an uppermost point of the upper edge line of the second golf club is located further on a toe side than in the first golf club.

The stiffening structure extends within the hollow interior from the crown section to the sole section to reduce stresses placed on the face section during impact with a golf ball. The stiffening structure is entirely located within 0.500 inch of a rear surface of the face section measured along a plane normal to the center of the face, and within 1 inch of the center of the face section along a horizontal axis parallel to the face section, and comprises heel and toe connectors connected to one another by a middle connector, such that the stiffening structure has an approximately X- or H-overall shape.

The flex support structures may have multiple profiles that contact the rear surface of the striking face at differing deflection depths.

Abstract: This invention provides a golf club with a club-head configured so as to decrease air resistance of the head by avoiding the air flows from retouching on the head surface. The club-head is provided with a ridge structure which contains a first ridge and a second ridge arranged at intervals in a downward direction of the air flows on at least the sole part of the head, wherein each of the ridges has the height of 0.2 mm to 3 mm and the breadth of 1 mm to 5 mm, the ridge structure being configured by plural ridges so as to displace the inclined angle of the ridges in a clockwise direction, resulting in generation of air vortex or whirls between the head surface and the surrounding air flows as shown in FIG. 2.

Abstract: Golf clubs and golf club head structures having an indicator providing a visual indication of a location of a center of gravity of a wood-type golf club are presented. The indicator may include a central portion or hub that is generally aligned with the center of gravity of the club. The indicator may also include a plurality of legs extending outward from the hub toward a perimeter of the golf club head. In some arrangements, the indicator may be formed to distribute a portion of the weight of the club head in order to adjust or move the center of gravity of the club head, in addition to providing a visual indication of the location of the center of gravity.

Abstract: An apparatus and methods of using the apparatus are included herein which apparatus includes a longitudinally extending bar body having an exterior surface and extending from a gripping end on a first bar section thereof to a second end comprising a hammer portion; wherein the hammer portion comprises a hammer head and the bar body comprises a second bar section extending from the hammer head at least partially along the bar body configured for receiving at least one weight positioned adjacent the hammer head. The crown portion is provided with a first region having a first thickness, a second region having a second thickness and a third region having a third thickness, wherein the third thickness is less than the second thickness which is less than the first thickness. The first region is disposed in a face portion side of the crown portion and extending in the toe-heel direction. The third region is disposed backward of the first region. The second region surrounds the third region.

The striking face includes a plurality of scorelines each having an average depth no less than about 0.10 mm, a plurality of first micro-grooves each having an average depth no greater than about 0.010 mm, and a plurality of second micro-grooves overlaid on the first micro-grooves, each of the second micro-grooves having an average depth greater than the average depth of the first micro-grooves. Some embodiments can also have a plurality of textured surface treatment regions superimposed on the overlaid first and second micro-grooves so as to at least partially intersect the micro-grooves.

Abstract: A golf club includes a tubular shaft, a golf club head affixed to a first end of the shaft, and a grip disposed about a second end of the shaft. The golf club head is a putter head having a loft angle of from about 0 degrees to about 6 degrees and a mass of from about 360 grams to about 400 grams. A movable weight is disposed within a hollow recess of the shaft and within a grip portion of the club. The movable weight is configured to be selectively repositionable within the grip portion by a user, and has a mass of from about 60 grams to about 80 grams.

Abstract: This invention provides a hollow golf club head including a metal plate portion provided with thin and thick portions. A medium thick portion having an intermediate thickness between the thicknesses of the thin and thick portions is formed at the boundary portion between the thin and thick portions. The thin and medium thick portions are formed by the steps of pressing the metal plate portion to form a recess in one surface of the metal plate portion and a projection on its other surface, performing chemical milling of the recess and a portion surrounding it, and removing the projection by grinding.

Abstract: When hitting a ball to a target with a putter, the ball often travels to a point which is deviated to the right from the target. When a golfer looks at the target just after taking his address, he turns his head to a target about a rotation axis which extends through the back of his head. When this rotation axis is not horizontal and an angle defined by the rotation axis and his sighting line to a putter head is not 90°, he has an optical illusion which tricks him into believing that he has to correct his address position. The putter of the present invention is provided with a thin-plate pendulum thereby allowing him to turn his head about the rotation axis while keeping the angle defined by the rotation axis and his sighting line at 90°.

Abstract: A golf club head having an adjustable hosel and a level is disclosed herein. The adjustable hosel is movable between a plurality of positions to adjust at least one feature of the golf club head, such as loft, lie, and/or face angle, and is held in place by an adjustment knob or adjustment lever. The level preferably is a bubble level that is disposed proximate a scale to indicate to a golfer an optimal loft, lie, and/or face angle of the golf club head.

Abstract: A ball striking device, such as a golf club head, includes a face having a ball striking surface configured for striking a ball and a body connected to the face and extending rearward from the face. The head further has an indicator associated therewith, the indicator identifying a golf ball based on a vibration mode of the golf ball, such that the club head is configured to be used to strike the golf ball on the ball striking surface. In one embodiment, the face and the identified golf ball(s) may have the same or substantially the same vibration mode at one or more different swing speeds. The indicator may be positioned on the body or elsewhere on the club head, or may be alternately be positioned on a shaft connected to the head or separately from the ball striking device, such as in a written manual associated with the head.

Abstract: Attachable systems and methods allow a golfer to ‘zero in’ on the desired striking zone or “sweet spot” of a club, including putters and non-putters. One or more guides are positionable relative to the desired striking zone, such that if a golf ball interacts with a guide during a swing, the guide provides aural or tactile feedback that the club has hit the ball outside of the desired striking zone. The device may include at least two guides, one positionable on one side of the desired striking zone and the other positionable on the other side of the desired striking zone. The device may comprise guides in the form of a tab or leaf pivotable from an up position when not in use to a down position for use. If the club head has a back side, a portion of the device may contact with the back side.

The perimeter of the top surface visible profile region may be complementary in shape to the perimeter of the top surface of the body and the varied top surface visible profile region and the actual top surface visible profile region may be distinct in shape, size, color, and/or finish etc. An associated golf club and a method for fitting a golf club are also provided.

Abstract: A golf club visual alignment system for effectively assisting a golfer with the alignment of a golf clubface with respect to an intended target. The golf club visual alignment system generally includes a top surface of a clubhead having a first section and a second section, wherein the intersection of the sections is ninety-degrees with respect to a clubface to assist a golfer in visually aligning the clubface. The first section has a different visual appearance from the second section to provide an alignment line for the golfer to visualize the alignment of the clubface with respect to a target.

Abstract: Embodiments of golf club heads and methods to manufacture such a golf club heads are generally described herein. In some embodiments, the golf club head may include a ball-striking face and a protective aluminum oxide layer coupled to the ball-striking face of the golf club head.
